One thing to consider in the garage area would be a dehumidifier. That would help with mildew prevention, and you can focus on directing more heat to the living area.
I love how you faced your kitchen this way!!! It's a gorgeous retro style as well but I've never seen it faced against the seats and not on a door side!!
It’s Gingy’s house...We’ve realized that we, are our cat (Andy) butler; he tells us what he wants & as Freddy said, I want it all, I want it now.... our whole apartment is really his scratching post! Looking forward to seeing your future endeavors. Thank you!
This is the first time I have found one of your videos and I have to say Im very impressed. The craftsmanship on your van is fantastic. It is functional and esthetically pleasing. I am in the east coast of the United States so I will be following your progress. But the reason why I feel the need to write you is that I really appreciate the way you had a section for your sponsor. Your infomercial was short informative and well made, but most of all it was honest So you gave me the information then went back to what made me pick your video in the first place.. I truly hate you tubers that are making infomercials and are pretending they are not sponsored. Well done.
Have to say great Vid Guys, I will start by saying i don't have a van or a Van Life but i do Truck Camping and find the information in your vids so useful and you guys always have so much great information. I want to thank you both for sharing your information and your life that you share with us watching and following you, You guys are awesome. Thank you so much for letting us in to your life and your travels along with you 😀
Heat will be the most important thing if you are heading for Canada. Especially the east coast, and possibly a set of chains if you plan to do any back country. 💜
My most obvious was picking the wrong kind of fridge - (thermoelectric instead of a compressor fridge) and then building it into the kitchen area, so I'd have to completely redo the kitchen design if I wanted to switch it.
This is the first video of yours I've seen, and I love it. You two are obviously knowledgeable as can be and just as cute. And Gingey's little hidey hole is the most precious thing ever. Looking forward to more!
So glad to hear nothing major needs to change! :) About halfway through my first vanbuild and it's a lot of work. So many of these type of videos list off major changes they wish they had done. I'm hoping to not have to change much once I'm finished. I'm trying to incorporate some old furniture pieces kinda like your kitchen piece. Love the character pieces like that add!
If you are going to be in the states and have an opportunity to hit the thrift stores and/or goodwill check for copper pieces to replace your sink. Check with the good neighbors of Canada as well! I know I see copper items in thrift stores in Indiana! Good luck, safe travels I am looking forward to your adventures in North America!!
I love your van guys. The corner sofa is fab. Some of the van builds don't have a slobbing area which makes it to uncomfortable for my head lol. It really is one of my favourite builds. If I ever get the chance to do one I would model it on yours. Also an oven is a must. And your are always so lovely and happy. Love your videos, so interesting
I use warm rechargeable led lights in my home. They attach via sticky pads and metal. You could stick one on the ceiling. There's at least one brand that allows for 3 different strengths of the light.
What about a tension rod for your curtain? And some stitch witch or other fabric glue to close the stitching? That way you have time to make the curtains you want but still have the curtain you need at the moment?
Make a wooden frame for around your light switch. Couple of swivel spot lights at the front. You can use domestic ones using lamp adapters from bedazzled led lighting. Beauty with swivel spots is you can completely change the feel of the van by turning them.
Hi Guys, I'd be happy to take the levelling blocks off your hands. How much do you want for them? Would your five things be any different if you had a much smaller or a larger van? Would your five things be any different if you didn't live in the van full time or only remained in warmer climates? I love your self made sink. My Son, when he was 13 (he's 15 now) made me a sink for my Kangoo from a stainless steel salad bowl from Asda. He got all the correct stuff from the plumbing shop for the plug/plug hole. Amazing! Take care guys xx
You can get flat scratching pads that you attach to vertical (or any) surfaces, made of sisal like the post. They prefer to be able to really stretch out, so you could always put one where she’s scratched the carpet and maybe even get rid of the post. I got mine for £7 from Lidl. All the best.
You gotta come to Vancouver Island, I hope you get a chance to get here. We could have a meetup with others. I would love to see your house. I LOVE your van and if I ever did a van build, it would be of similar design as yours. There are beautiful places on the island that you would love and photograph. So many hidden gems. We have beaches, forests, mountains, creeks, rivers etc. Great video, I enjoyed your 5 things you'd change. :) I hope to watch your Alaska adventures, if our tv stations pick it up. Stay safe out there and give that kitty a scritch under the chin.
Cat scratch advice!!! Your scratching post doesn't seem to be tall/sturdy enough. If Ginger is stretching out to scratch the walls/drawers up high, she needs a higher scratching spot where she can fully stretch out. Can you mount sturdier carpet on the wall where she likes to scratch? Maybe you could do velcro type thing that could be replaced? Also you can easily get Ginger used to having her nails clipped. You can use regular people nail clippers. If you squeeze her feet gently from top to bottom, her nails will stick out. Just clip the points off, stay well away from the quicks!
Can you maybe put some sisal and glue pieces on the spots Gingey scratches? I love your van by the way. It’s so cozy. Be good to see ya in North America. Love ya guys. Safe travels. 💕❤️💜💗
It's interesting how different peoples experiences are so different. I have the same leveling blocks and there's rarely a time I stop without using them! It's going to feel very good after this round of optimisations, good luck with the trip across the pond 👍🏻
If these are the only mistakes you made when building your van then you’ve done really well! All easy fixes! When I saw the title of your video I thought it was going to be something major, bed or kitchen in the wrong place maybe? Thankfully not 😀! Look forward to your trip to the colonies, good luck 👍
there are also small scratching boards that you could mount to the wall. that way she cant reach some of these spots anymore and it doenst take up that much space :)
Sure hope you will be doing a Meetup in Halifax. I for one would love to meet you. My husband and I have driven across Canada numerous times. We might have an idea or 2 to pass along!!
Hi I see your point in regard to the sink rusting. You could treat it antitrust and paint it with White gel coat and it will be preserved forever. I hope this idea helps
Love you guys and your videos. Your van floor plan is one that I really like. I think in the middle of your kitchen, backed up to the front seats, I'd have to really make sure I could get thru Ginjeys' opening to get to the front to drive away, for safety reasons. Bahahaha, I was thinking of a roll-out cabinet there also. We'll see what happens. I have a year to get one finished and on the road. Awesome you're coming to North America. Be Safe and Enjoy your Travels
Hi Theo & Bee - Thanks for sharing - and good tips there. We use our chocks all the time but I think because our bed is across the van so harder to level and keep in parking areas. Few tweaks for your big trip - going to be awesome Marianne and Chris x 🙏🚐🌎
Hey guys, would you say the thermal benefits of a bulkhead wall separating the cab outweighs the benefits of using the passenger seating as part of the living area?
Some right good hints & tips Thanks .following your World Tour well thats what it looks like its turned into you go guys well done x good luck with the shipping
Loving your content guys. Where you from in U.K. ? Just bought an unusual vehicle to convert so I’m trying to get as much info as possible. It’s overwhelming tbf but exciting too. Following your travel journey Jojo & Jason
Guys, pull out a map and look up York, Pennsylvania, USA. While we live in the center of a small urban city, we have a parking space and hookups for you here. (200 miles to NYC, 100 miles to Philadelphia, 90 miles to Washington, DC, & 50 miles to Baltimore- plus we have assorted fun local attractions like Amish people). You are welcome!
Sounds like you did a great build. Not too many problems and nothing that can't be easily sorted. The carpet can be shaved and reglued, but Ginjey will probably just do it all again. 😉
Thanks Bea and Theo, I cant say it enough... you both are so adorabke together👍🤗💗 so lovely to see 2 young people truely in love 💞💞💞💞 plus your gorgeous fur baby, Gingie bear 😊💗 Thanks for sharing your little changes to get ready for your next grand adventure.👍☺️🥰🥰
Hi...I truly love the design of the van!!!...especially, the space for ginjey. But, as we all know, once living in a space/home, we see changes which are a little better. Theo, you are one very talented dude!!! Bea, love how you've decorated!!! can tell how very excited you both are for the trip 😁😁 so looking forward to the future adventures 🙂 w/ you three. Blessings for success in all the improvements & traveling 🙋♀️ going to be such fun 🖖
Ummm ok ...only watched your compost dunny and this one ..vid but liked how u complied it like listening to you and the tips 🤟🏽 Geoff Perth Australia stay safe
Thank you for sharing...we are in the process of down sizing from an A class motorhome to a B class. We are trying to decide if we want to buy a Dodge ProMaster and do the conversation. We have compiled a list of things that have worked best in van conversions for other folks. We have watched a lot of utube channels gathering information on products and details in case we decide to go that route. Appreciate your video...all the best to you both as you prepare for your trip to Canada. 🤗🇨🇦
I think the things that you found that you would change are similar to anything that any homeowner would have even if it was a Sticks and Bricks house. You have to live in a location for a while before you do find out what works and what does not work for you. It sounds as if you all have some healthy solutions to the situation. I think that mirror that be got from New York but it's supposed to be from Mexico would look cute in your born that you're going to be converting into a shepherd's Croft even if it's just used for decoration instead of purposes for which you would use a regular mirror. Take care and safe travels. S ritch Gingey behind the ears from her Auntie in Texas.
That’s it??? The ducting is the major one I can imagine. It’s good to see you have same thermostat control box like we have. How is that working out for you guys. Did you program it or do you just turn the knob.
Hi there! I wonder if you could help me clear up few things about Van Life in UK. Does your van need to be registered under RV license plate or it’s ok as commercial vehicle plate? Another question is, can you just park and sleep on the street or Tesco Parking lot or where are the places are safe to spend a night ? Cheers!
What kind of carpeting did you use on the walls of your van? I am currently looking for something to cover the bare metal in my build, and considering I am not currently traveling with a cat, I LOVE the smooth blend of your guys' carpeting with the cedar. Thanks!
Good morning kids from frigid Ohio ...great little video! Just one short question...will we in the US be able to see the Win the Wilderness on BBC TWO? All my searching seems to point to I will have to use iPlayer? I don't want to so do you have any info? Also what I have seen says the premier is January 26? Wish you were able to see Ohio in the spring or summer! We have a beautiful state! Cheers! Have a great day!
Awesome video, as usual! I just have a quick question cause I've watched your building series a MILLON times... does it affect the reflectix (acting as a moisture barrier) that you nailed through it for the cladding? If ANYONE KNOWS, thank you in advance! Love from Argentina, I'll be waiting for your South American adventure! :)
I really thought one of the points would be the placement of the kitchen. Having to climb through the hutch if you needed to leave without going outside, must be a real pain. Don't get me wrong - I absolutely love that adorable little kitchen - I would just prefer having access to the driving area.
hey i just started watching your videos today on youtube im living in tennessee usa ive moved here 3 years ago and thinking of doing a van conversion to tour usa ...... i thought your accent sounded close to mine as i lived in hinckley near nuneaton where you had your van electrics done lol ..keep up the good videos
Thanks for the tips. Regarding the sink and expoxy resin.. are you worried about it leching BPA? Or will you be using something different. - Cananda is great!
I love your copper sink (we have loads copper at home). Was there any reason you didn't sink it below counter surface? Was it to see its shape? Also don't forget you can buy vertical scratchpads to put on walls for Gingey's fave scratch locations! Buy spare coir rope too as those single stands come apart in only a few months.
So only the duct and the sink are not well build? Well then hou guys did an amazing build and a beautiful one as well! When i can start my build i will defenitly look at your building vids again for tips...and as always a nice video today...you are such a nice couple to follow that i’m happy we’ve got BBC2🙂
What mistakes did you make in your van build?
None, got my small van done, being a novice, nearly set Ringwood campsite to Firewood, 🔥forgot camping ring, it burnt ,table. 🙈😲😂
I didn't tell everyone about squarespace whilst doing it
None. :)
You may need a scratch board for the wall for your cat to fix the carpet problem
Non
Despite the "mistakes" it needs to be said that you guys still have the most gorgeous kitchen I've ever seen in a van! Good luck in North America! 👍🏼😉
the carpet on the walls actually sounds like a great thing to me, better to have that scratched as it's easy to replace or reglue, and the cat likes it
Put double-sided sticky tape on it. Stops the scratching.
@@rogerhoughton5809 Not when you have a cat that likes to lick the glue on tape.
One of mine loves to lick tape.
One thing to consider in the garage area would be a dehumidifier. That would help with mildew prevention, and you can focus on directing more heat to the living area.
I love how you faced your kitchen this way!!! It's a gorgeous retro style as well but I've never seen it faced against the seats and not on a door side!!
The layer of epoxy resin on the basin ! Genius! Cheers for the inspiration! My dream then can come true! Hoorah! Thank you!
It’s Gingy’s house...We’ve realized that we, are our cat (Andy) butler; he tells us what he wants & as Freddy said, I want it all, I want it now.... our whole apartment is really his scratching post! Looking forward to seeing your future endeavors. Thank you!

The Mexican mirror would look great in the outhouse!
Have to say great Vid Guys, I will start by saying i don't have a van or a Van Life but i do Truck Camping and find the information in your vids so useful and you guys always have so much great information. I want to thank you both for sharing your information and your life that you share with us watching and following you, You guys are awesome. Ah that’s perfect! Good luck with the build 😊

The old furniture piece is still our favourite part of the build!! Nothing major to change but a few things nonetheless ☺️

Love the thrift stores in North America we will for sure be checking them out!! Thanks ❤️
Keep the leveling blocks. They can help you get out of stuck places too. Happy Trails
I love your van guys. The corner sofa is fab. Some of the van builds don't have a slobbing area which makes it to uncomfortable for my head lol. It really is one of my favourite builds. Really good advice it’s amazing how much crap you can carry with you without realising it 👍🤓👍
Honestly it’s madness! We have things we’ve been carrying around that we forgot we even own 🙈
Or even your backpack....we just decided today, we need to have a backpack clean out!
That is a really nice looking build. Will look for your build video and potentially take some inspiration from it
What about a tension rod for your curtain? And some stitch witch or other fabric glue to close the stitching? That way you have time to make the curtains you want but still have the curtain you need at the moment?
I miss the cup scooping water clip. The levelers may come in handy in the states, especially if youre going to boondock.
lionhiker that’s what I was thinking
We boondock 99.9% of the time for 7 years and have only used the levellers once!
we recently used our leveling blocks to get someone's car out of a snow ditch - but I will admit we've never actually used them for sleeping haha
So helpful - Thankyou. Just about to buy a van.....the task ahead is daunting, particularly as this will be a solo project. 🤞
Make a wooden frame for around your light switch. Couple of swivel spot lights at the front. You can use domestic ones using lamp adapters from bedazzled led lighting. Beauty with swivel spots is you can completely change the feel of the van by turning them.
Hadn’t thought of swivel lights!
Just found this video today and I really enjoyed it. These two are really lovely. I’ve subscribed and will enjoy binging on all their other videos ♥️👍
Great video. Love your kitchen so much
Hi Guys,
I'd be happy to take the levelling blocks off your hands. How much do you want for them?
Would your five things be any different if you had a much smaller or a larger van?

Living in your van (the longer the better), gives you a real insight to your next build! Were loving our Luton build series 👍🚐😀

Love you guys! Such minor things and all (except perhaps the ducting for the heat), pretty easily fixable!
It's interesting how different peoples experiences are so different. I have the same leveling blocks and there's rarely a time I stop without using them!
It's going to feel very good after this round of optimisations, good luck with the trip across the pond 👍🏻
Yours is my favourite van build. I love the layout!! Your calendar arrived --- it is just wonderful! Thanks!
Hi there ♡ I've never watched any videos from your channel but now I'm hooked! You are both so lovely and I love everything about this!
If these are the only mistakes you made when building your van then you’ve done really well! All easy fixes! I use my leveling blocks. Not often but maybe once a month, if ground very uneven.
I feel like all of these would be hard to foresee!! But at least they seem like pretty easy fixes!
Sure hope you will be doing a Meetup in Halifax. I for one would love to meet you. My husband and I have driven across Canada numerous times. We might have an idea or 2 to pass along!!
Thank you that would be lovely! Yes maybe we could do a meet up in Halifax ☺️
Hi
I see your point in regard to the sink rusting. You could treat it antitrust and paint it with White gel coat and it will be preserved forever. I hope this idea helps
Ive just been though my van too, love chucking stuff out!
I’m super excited to see you in Canada! Thanks for sharing these great tips.
It's tomorrow! At 9; really excited.
So glad I found your video, looking at converting our van soon 🤗
The curtain above the Hob looks like a fire in the making B! Don't you have screens for the cab area? Keep up the good work and be safe.
Thank you, very informative. Safe travels to Canada, can't wait to see you there! Sooo looking forward to the Alaska adventure. ✌
I should have my van in a few months! Excited you guys are coming to Canada’s! We’ll see you on the road :)
Yeah! Canada! What places are you planning to see? Which coast are you starting on?
🇨🇦🌸So excited for you to come to Canada!!! Welcome, welcome, welcome!!! 🇨🇦🌸

Guys, pull out a map and look up York, Pennsylvania, USA. While we live in the center of a small urban city, we have a parking space and hookups for you here. Sounds like you did a great build. Not too many problems and nothing that can't be easily sorted. The carpet can be shaved and reglued, but Ginjey will probably just do it all again. 😉
She does it when she wants attention, like a true cat haha
LED's are your best friend in a van :)
I am so excited to see you in Canada. I live in the heart of the prairies and would love to bring my conversion to a meet up!
where are you based please. I in Canterbury U.K.
Great vlog poor old gingie took the brunt of the carpet lol 👍🏴👍
Another great video, shorter than some which is better as I had time to watch all of it
Cheers Billy!
Love tour set up!!!
Hey girl, I loved your hair do. You two are my favorite vanlifers by far. Keep it real! Safe travels and God speed.

levelling blocks. You need them in your life! Essential sleep accessories
hey guys!!! can you give some more info about the shipping van to Canada? thanks (money, time...)

I've seen speaker carpet that looks amazing.
But what if you need the leveling blocks in N. America?
Northern vancouver island here, just fyi we have had 3 cats taken by eagles last summer in my area.
Nice build !!!! What is the final weight of the van ?

id LOVE the leveling blocks!!! i live back in the uk though 😬😬😬
cheap diesel heaters for vans seem a good deal off ebay or amazon lots of van lifers use them

We have 2 cats onboard, all fun when the going gets rough
Gingey has you two well trained. Hehehe.
Cover the torn up carpet with a diy and replenishable sisal scratch pad.
The problem is the scratch pad will just get ripped off the wall too, she’s too strong!
I think you should come to the Ottawa area. :D I am about 45 minutes west of Ottawa and it would be really cool to see the van and meet you guys. :)
The counter was so incredibly difficult to cut through that it was easier to have it on the surface 😂
@@theindieprojects get Theo weightlifting so he can give it some welly!
So only the duct and the sink are not well build? Well then hou guys did an amazing build and a beautiful one as well! When i can start my build i will defenitly look at your building vids again for tips...and as always a nice video today...you are such a nice couple to follow that i’m happy we’ve got BBC2🙂
Thank you!
Nice info and Good luck in Canada
Haha my cats have figured out scratching the walls in my room wakes me up so fast! 😂
you can also get a scratching post that you mount on the wall. But that needs to be screwed in though >_
Hi Theo, David from Cruising the Cut said in his last video that he needs some levelling blocks for his van 👍
