In the army, they occasionally made us to go cringy events like this to "boost morale". Soldiers sarcastically referred to the events as "mandatory fun". Absolutely fucking nobody wanted to go to them. The army already consumed so much of everybody's lives (much like toxic corporate workplaces do) that everyone would prefer just having the day off.
The funniest part is when some of the events "banned" drinking to keep us from getting too rowdy or whatever. Those events usually involved my platoon getting together in the parking lot to shotgun beers at 9am before the event started. Being wasted was about the only way to tolerate them.
In terms of "team building" or "camaraderie", I'm a grown fucking adult and can decide when and if to do that myself. First off, team building is what you do every god damn day at work. If your job involves being part of a team, I assure you that you will learn to function with your team or you will fail and be fired. It's pretty simple. Some dumb pie eating contest isn't gonna help with that. That's on you as a professional.
Know what built camaraderie for me? Hanging out with my work buddies outside of work of my own free will, because I actually want/wanted to, when I want to, not being forced to. You can't force camaraderie. That will always backfire, be totally ineffective at best, and cause resentment at worst (because you're wasting people's time with some dumb ass event rather than just respecting their time and letting thing go home).

People judge too much nowadays without having the slightest insight about what others' lives are or what they are going through, and even if they know, trust me being in a situation, living it, and seeing it from the outside are two very different things. You're brave to put yourself out in the public like this and freely state your opinions. The less people you have around you, the smarter you are. That's all I can say.

That’s just business 101...nothing political about it. Unfortunately when the economy is bad, employers will take advantage of it because people get desperate. In normal times... if the pay is not market rate for the work those positions just don’t get filled. In bad times people will take what they can get because of desperation. If an employer cares about retention they won’t do that. Unpaid internships are a scam, decent internships will pay an hourly rate.

    • @jazzmann1984
      @jazzmann1984 3 года назад +13

@@charliedallachie3539 Unfortunately employers take advantage of employees regardless of there being in some form of an economic or financial crisis. The way in which society is organized is that a small group of people exploit the mass of people for profit. The goal of an employer is to hire an employee for the least amount of cost possible. This is why we have seen our degrees being devalued, and hourly wages devalued over the past 50 years. If workers demand more income for a particular position the employer either looks to other countries or in your words, "those positions do not get filled." This is not the employees' fault for demanding a living wage to pay bills. As long as there are labour markets in other countries that are cheaper than the same jobs here in the US, employers will not care about retention. They will just outsource. As long as employees do not have direct control over the decision-making process within a workplace, jobs will continually be devalued, and move to other (cheaper) sectors of the labour market. I would also go a bit further than your unpaid internships assertion. While they are a scam, they are also illegal under the Fair Labour Standards Act. If an intern provides the value of any kind to an employer, that intern must be paid at least the federal minimum wage. If the intern is not to be paid, then they cannot add value to the company what so ever, and the employer must add to the education and experience of the intern of what they would have got from their university, not simply doing coffee runs or doing some work that a Manager or Director doesn't want to do. However, the enforcement of this regulation is nonexistent and we see the sorts of things that take place in internships. Also, unpaid interns are not considered employees and therefore not protected against sexual harassment in the workplace. This is why you see women and Black and and Brown women specifically in these positions where they experience sexual assault and even rape where the boss gets away with it.

Hi Joshua, I wanted to thank you.
My father is a toxic person. For years me, my sisters and mother suffered from the slurs and abuses from him.
Until I finish college I had no option but bear with him.
Then I finished college joined a tech company and started earning. When the pandemic started it was hell to put up with him in the house sleepless nights and so on. Then me and my sister decided that we should get away from him and we did. We took our mom with us.
We moved to a city far away from him.
But I was feeling kind of guilty and no one to talk or share it with. It was a struggle because I couldn't even share it with any of my friends. That's when I you put out the videos like "disowned by my family".
I got a big relief that I did the right thing for me and my family both physically and mentally by distancing from my toxic father. And we are happy now.

I started a handmade-only pop-up market in 2019 and I got a lot of hate email and hate posts on social media. Instead of people making their own vision with their money, they wanted to criticize mine. I earned money from working a job to make my profit-loss event because I was tired of going to pop-events with MLMs. The first years were great in attendance and everyone loved it.
This year was not good. I think I let all the hate get to me and did not do as good as a job in promoting the event, because I did not want to get more hate mail again this year. The people I let down the most are the handmade-only vendors.

Honestly, your opinions never disappointed me josh, I think most of us (the viewers) agree with it and that's why we love you. we all been in a toxic job where we can relate to your story, there are jobs out there sooo toxic that I had to leave and stop going to them because they're toxic AF.
I like to share this one with you
I worked for "automotive oil change specialty shop" and the job listening was 17-19/CAD, I applied and got a call to come in for an interview on Friday and by the end of the interview I was asked when can I start and I said next week should be enough time to put my affairs in order. he said ok we'll let you know if you have been selected. I got a call around 9pm and he said can you start tomorrow I said no that's too early I need time to let my employer know, and the man had the audacity to say why and I was shocked because I have to tell them I'm leaving the company and going somewhere else?
then he said well the job offer won't be here by next Monday, if you want it then come tomorrow by 8 am with safety boots and the dress code is all black.
I was put into a situation where I was forced to pick in such a short time. so I told my boss the situation and she got mad because I was only one in night shift doing receiving and the other 2
employees were on days and afternoons so I kinda fucked their logistics for an extra 4-5$ an hour. she and I were good friends and since then we didn't talk.
the next day I show on time he put my name on the computer system and I asked what will be my hourly rate and he responded with I don't know, I was like then who knows??? he talked me into it and said this guy will be your handler and he will tell everything you need to know and he left. Throughout the whole day, I was not giving safety glasses, gloves, nor TOOLS. I was like wtf is this in the interview they told me they have everything and I don't need to grab my own tools. they said they ran out of safety supplies and I can share tools with this person. so in the first 30 min of work, I already got into a heated argument with the coworker because I was gonna use the tools the company supplied ( keep in mind it cost less than a 100$ for a complete socket set) the argument went about that should bring the sockets after each use, which I replied with I didn't take it from you, our handler did and he gave it to me to work with. and he already has a different set of tools but he wants this. then I realized he just wanted to establish his dominance in his bay and threatened me if I ever came near his bay, I didn't stay quiet about it ofc so I replied back with threats of my own and went back to my work. I realized they also were scamming people for unnecessary fluids(trans and differ) changes and some work that needed a licensed mechanic work so at lunch I went to talk to my handler about my work hours and my whats my pay gonna be like and these sales guys are scamming people. but he said he doesn't know either he will have to ask and he will let me know by the end of my shift. by the end of our shift, we had to close and clean the place and not get paid for it, and I thought he was joking and he said he is not. the other coworker told me stories when it gets busy they stay for an hour or 2 to clean everything which is then my head clicked and I said to myself alright time to cut this crap and I need to talk to my handler while everyone was cleaning.
i asked him for the time whats my hours and whats my hourly rate and which he replied I don't know. and he said he will let me know tomorrow if I have to come in.
that day when I left home I'm pretty sure that the company could've shut down for all the unsafe and scamming practices.
so the next day i get a call at 7:40 from my handler and he told me to came in by 8 I was you should've told me in advance and he replied he didn't have a phone and he starts work at 7:30. so i got dressed and ready as quick I can and by the time I got there it was 8:05 and when I walked in he told me to stop where I am and not sign until the owner who was in the office is done with his phone call.
so by 8:30 he called me into the office in front of the owner and the manager and said you're half an hour late and he was speaking with a tone that I didn't like, in short, I described to him that he didn't tell me if I'm working the next day or not and he should've called me earlier to let me know which he then replied with "ok, I will allow this time, go to your bay and start working" at this point since everyone in management is here I told them but I'm not done talking to you. which they got shocked by the response and he looked at his mangers "is he talking to me? i hope he is not talking to me" and he looked and I said "do you know who you're talking to right now" which I replied with "you're someone who's supposed to be my handler that doesn't know anything about my schedule or and pay"
which the man got close to my face and started yelling do you want to fight bro, you want to fight, come outside, come outside. I literally laughed out loud so hard and saying to my head this can't be real. unbelievable.
which I replied with "I don't know a fucking shit about my schedule or my pay if I wanted to beat your ass I would've done it yesterday you fucking skinny noddle" which then the other manager stepped in between us and he said "if all you wanted to talk then you could've asked me to talk, you cant come up to me say stuff like that"
I said well we're here now, so what is my schedule and pay.
he said your pay is minimum wage (13.50) and you work Monday To Friday at this point I argued with them about the listing and the pay is not what was advertised, which they replied with that was probably a mistake at this point I go to my bay grab the gloves that I bought and left with my middle fingers up.
it was such a mess and now I can avoid these companies I see any similar practices. I will never work for any company like this ever again, for such scamming owners and fucking toxic people which I think they get from their managers. Garbage, I cannot believe such waste men existed.

Really Like your content Man #lovefromIndia. Also, thanks for all the reality videos got saved as one of the companies you mentioned reached out for a contract and they demanded demo after demo for they Recommendation System until finally they just offered 100 dollars. Saw your video a couple days after and then cancelled that and made that my college final year project and got a decent job.
Thanks, man keep up the good work.

When people's opening move in their counter argument is to insult you (an hominem attack), you know you're dealing with a manipulator who has no interest in understanding truth. Haters will be haters.
