- IT'S BACK! An amazing Fifth Element-style trailer for the new Beyond Good and Evil, which is a prequel to the venerable and much-loved original. It's once being lead by Michel Ancel - well, he's allegedly been leading it since the first announce, which was something like eight years ago. We're going to assume it's changed quite a bit since then.

The old guard tried saving this game but Yves, the CEO, wanted the company to change towards fully live service games. Then in august 2018, the live service games model crashed and the share price started falling, and it keeps on falling to this day.

I was in middle school when I first saw this, I wanted to play this game and hopefully “it will come out next year”. I graduated and going to college soon and this game is still not released nor any gameplay footage has been released..
There was actually gameplay footage released quite some time ago. But assuming it ever comes out, expect the gameplay to be nothing like any of that footage. This is ubisoft after all, every gameplay trailer they ever released in the past decade is different from the actual game. I mean, just look at the first watch dogs....

It doesn't need to be added to literally every piece of media though. It's cringey to hear and pulls you out of the experience. It's like a forced meme.

I'll never get over this trailer I think, I remember watching it when it was just released and I literally sobbed because I've been waiting for this since 2003.
Now 5 years later I know it's never going to see the light of day, and if it does it will not be anything like the first installment. But this trailer, specifically the last part on the ship with Dakini and the swell of music as the title fades in, will forever have my heart.

It's been over 5 years, and though this game is NEVER coming out, I still get chills for the last few seconds of this trailer. When the theme music blasts out from a choir and the ship slowly warms up and then blasts into the unknown. But we can't go with the ship. We're still here. They're gone.

@@lightup6751 development hell basically. Ancel despite his genius was apparently a massive asshole who kept changing ideas and creating a toxic environment for work. Development restarted endlessly over the years. Ancel was given a pass because he was lifelong buddies with the CEO.

It's been confirmed that photography is part of the game in the recent in-engine video. However the footage is very early and there's no telling how much will change by the end product

For the people who are angry over the lack of story connections to the original so far, you have the right to be disappointed, but this is giving the creator of Beyond Good and Evil a chance to develop their universe. I think a world as interesting as the one this series proposes would be amazing with the level of world building this game will provide. I don't think they should have called it Beyond Good and Evil 2 as it is a prequel, but I'm sure this will set up for the next narrative chapter. Really sucks that there will be more wait for the continuation of Jade's story, but the approach they are taking for this game is allowing for the series creator to display the universe he has created around the original. From what I read, the creator had planned to make a trilogy because of how massive his universe was, so I am looking forward to this.
tldr; Really does suck to wait longer for Jade's story for all the original fans, but this game has so much potential for the Beyond Good and Evil universe as a whole.

At least let us have the chance to play her character we want her and I hope they make her part of the game and story as played in the trailer because as i recall from the last part she had a gift an amazing power so that must be continued they can't just put her story on hold and make a new one!
Myre what if the game only starts as a prequel but maybe further into the story we catch up with the original games events
The original came out about 15 years ago, if they made a continuation, they'd only be reaching the audience that played the original. This way, they can raise interest for the universe. This was the only way they could even dream of bringing it back after 15 years. No one's going to remember the original right off the bat, hell, I know I didn't.

It's incredible to me that they could release a bunch of amazing trailers for this game only for it to basically go nowhere over the next half-decade and then probably get cancelled.

Everything about this trailer is so beautiful.. From the whimsical yet mature nature and somber wrap off at the end. I wish Ubisoft would get this game out of development hell and continue this series..

Having never played BGE I find this trailer to be really well put together. The trailer was refreshingly "grown up", though I can see how some might cringe at the language. Great animation and an interesting story hook.

BG&E was the first game I ever bought in 2003. 21 years later, still waiting for the sequel (yes, still a little bit hopeful because I WANT it to happen). The first game was my introduction to gaming, so it holds a special place in me and I will not fully give up on the sequel until there’s an official announcement. Even if it’s in 2050 or whatever. 😭

A few days ago, Grand Theft Auto 6, the sequel to the universally beloved GTA 5, was announced.
By this point, Beyond Good and Evil 2 should've been released yesterday.
They spent the entire games budget on this single trailer that’s why it’s never coming out.

it’s not that the swearing isn’t realistic, but there’s a massive tonal shift from the original BGE. you could argue that the fanbase has grown older, but that doesn’t mean you make the franchise super edgy in response. it’s just such a sharp change from the first BGE.
for example, if this was the language used in a GTA trailer, no one would be surprised because that’s part of what we’ve come to know from GTA. BGE never had that kind of reputation
