The difference is the 503 has the Eotech style ring reticle and the 403 does not. I have 2 503 and one 403. The blue tint is on older Holosun red dots. My 2019 503 has this bluish color my 2021 and 2023 403 and 503 are both verry clean. The dot is far more crisp than on my 2019 aimpoint Pro.
I’ve got the gold dot elite 403 R.I got it thinking holosun was just a budget brand,I thought it would be good enough.Almost two years later it’s my favorite sight.No tint.Really clear.The battery stays on all year round I change the battery on New Years.Great sight. I’ve found a setting that works both in doors and outdoors.So I can just leave it be.
Are both sights built in the same year, or one is newer? Could be the improvments in lens coatings. Every manufacturer improves their products to stay competitive. Or maybe is it that the 503 has a bigger reticle to project and needs a darker coating because of more light emissions?
I'm not too sure if they're built in the same year. But I'm thinking it's the last option. The 503R has a stronger noche filter because of the larger reticle it supports.
Thank you! I'm torn between both of these and the Primary Arms MD25 with ACSS. I'll be running a magnifier so I'm leaning towards the MD25 but the housing/body of the MD25 is chunky/wide. Other option is the Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 with the 403 on an Arisaka offset mount. Thank you again for this information/video!
I don’t think so. This is the second one I’ve had with that typo. Plus, who would make fakes of Holosun red dots when they’re already inexpensive vs a Trijicon red dot.

Yeah the circle dot draws more juice so to try to compensate a but they probably made that filter stronger.

No, but it could just be too faint to see. If this is still the case in the dark, send it to Holosun and they'll fix/replace

If it was a fake, I ended up returning the 503R to keep the 403R anyways. So now that's someone else's problem lol
The real ones say “circle dot” trust me, I called holosun and they confirmed this, and I have seen real ones in the store with the correct spelling
