What I like about matchie is he isn't afraid to change the dynamic of the deck. Instead of playing dm as pure deck with a few branded cards, now it dm is just a engine alone. Also the way his videos are done with editing is insane.
@@D.AblosFamilia I don't agree. The DM engine is pretty substantial, and it is so because it still needs to feel like you're playing a DM deck. Is branded on it's own better? Maybe. But Branded is a better deck than DM overall. So is Tear, so is Purrly, etc. I'm not playing DM because it's the most meta deck. I'm playing it cause it's fun and I like the cards. This deck still feels like playing DM, but with a lot more gas.
Machie does have a pretty solid DM deck. Edit: Duality is also great because in the ED you run a lot of light and darks but mostly 1 copy of cards, so being able to use duality to shuffle them back into the ED, draw 1 then go off is pretty wild. Also pro tip, You can run the dark magician the magical knight as a duality target as well and he works great with Borroload Furious dragons pop to SS out a DM and Gaia. It makes for great OTK's. I'd take out Despian Lululwilith (the synchro) and Albion the Sactifier Dragon, as those are "win more cards" and you'd be adding in "win more cards".
Idk that I agree with cutting Luluwalilith. It's a free negate. If you don't draw Duality, your Grangangol is just kind of sitting there not doing anything. Being able to swap him for Lulu for an extra negate for FREE is pretty useful.
@@JoshxDarnxIt that tag out Lulu is not that great because then you banish Dusk and you really don't want to banish him as you want to recycle him for the send to GY effect. Plus once you SS Lulu your opponent has to play into Lulu's eff for you to get the negate. It's cool, but doesn't come up as often as people would think. It's better to use Dusk dragon as the tribute foder for Timeaus than banish him for Lulu.
I've been following Matchie since his first video and I'm a big fan of what he's been doing with DM. So it pains me to say: my #1 issue with this particular build is that it bricks like crazy. Arguably the two most important factors in modern deck building are consistency and the ability to play through interruptions. And those are precisely this list's two biggest weaknesses. The Branded package does so much for DM potentially, but running a truncated package with no ability to search Branded Fusion (outside Thrust) is asking for dead hands and underwhelming boards. Your ideal turn 1 board is a Dragoon + Winda + Secret Village. Even if you aren't interrupted at all, you're almost never achieving that board and, sadly, even checking 2 of those 3 boxes happens too infrequently to be competitive. I'm glad to hear you mention Dogmatika. After testing this deck at my locals and identifying my main concerns with it, my immediate idea was to incorporate Dogmatika. Increased consistency? Check. Greater ability to play through interruptions? Check. Plus, Dogmatika Maximus and Fleurdelis are Level 8 Light Spellcasters: that's a free Dragoon if you're running Duality. The ability to pitch Garura off Nadir Servant also helps massively with fixing your hand, especially if you've got The Dark Magicians out at the same time. I know Matchie mentioned Dogmatika once as an engine he tried and found lackluster, but I hope he goes back to it for further exploration. You want to build an engine you can trust rather than rely on hard drawing non-engine tech cards and board breakers. Dogmatika helps with that tremendously.
That's really interesting. I too have been having some issues with bricking. I think the biggest weakness of the deck is that there's no way to search for Duality. Getting either Dragoon or Winda on board is easy. Getting both requires either Duality or Branded Fusion, and sometimes you just don't get either. Dragoon + Village isn't bad, but sometimes you don't get the village either. Then it's rough. I'd be really intrested to see what a Dogmatika engine does for this deck.
@@JoshxDarnxIt looking at the Vancouver list, you've got a deck divided into 3 parts: 1) DM core 2) Branded core 3) generic tech cards The idea of having access to all these things sounds awesome, but anybody who buys the cards and plays with the deck (or tries it out on a simulator or even runs test hands in Neuron) will quickly discover the major obstacle of the deck: it's broken into 3 silos that don't bridge into each other. You're going into each game hoping to hard draw into a perfect mix of cards from all 3 silos. It's a recipe for brick city. None of the DM cards search your Branded Cards or generics, none of the Branded cards search your DM cards or generics, and none of the generics search anything apart from Fusion Deployment. So you often run into the problem of opening too much of one engine and not going far with it. This also makes the deck extremely vulnerable to interruptions. A deck like Spright or Purrely can afford to run a bunch of generic staples because their core engines are so consistent at building their end boards off a single card. DM relies on 2- and 3-card combos, so it inherently has a lot less room for main decking generic cards like Nibiru. The Dogmatika engine helps address these problems in two ways: 1) it supports the Winda play, so now you've got multiple components of your deck working towards a single end (which let's you play through interruptions), and 2) it does substantial deck thinning while also drawing, which isn't as powerful as directly searching, but it's still an improvement over relying purely on what you opened with. Plus, it gives you an added non-targeting negate in Fleurdelis that doubles back into material for Dragoon.
If we got a fusion spell or a Link 1 with a great effect, but 0 ATK, my god, the deck's ceiling level would rise up so much. Also, telling people to get back in the cave was gold XD
It really isn't possible with Branded Fusion at 1. You could do something like trade 2 of the banned Branded Fusions with Aluber and Branded Opening, but that substantially changes how the deck plays compared to the TCG version, plus going -2 via Branded Opening for Branded Fusion in a Dark Magician deck feels horrible.
I would like to see a new Master Duel build. I've been running the same DPE deck or branded deck for a long time and just want something refreshing for DM. You cooking anything up @LOZA ?
Second winda is definitely the play. If you hard draw schism you can use it for magician's souls effect then instead of send apkolone you can send the other copy, add back schism without having to discard.
It can search literally any card in the game. There are over 500 better cards your thrust can grab instead of eye. For example, branded fusion would be a better add.

Can someone explain how the shaddoll fusions would be summoned? Duality needs to tribute the same level as the fusion monster right? And schism needs to banish the materials from field or GY, so how are winda and apkallone being summoned in this deck? There are no level 5 or 6 monsters being played except for dmg but she's a dark so that wouldn't work with duality since the attribute needs to be different and both shaddoll fusion are dark. And then both fusions mention shaddoll monsters as fusion materials so how does schism work then if there are no shaddoll monsters in the main deck?
He’s using Granguignol the Dusk Dragon’s effect to send Apkallone to the GY which searches Schism and Apkallone acts as the Shaddoll part of the fusion material. All he has to do is provide an additional DARK monster material which the deck is full of. (Magician’s Souls + Apkallone for example) So to reiterate 1. Open Fusion Deployment or Cartesia 2. Fuse Catersia + another LIGHT or DARK monster 3. Summon Granguignol the Dusk Dragon 4. Use Granguignol’s effect to send Apkallone from Extra Deck to the GY 5. Search Schism 6. Use Schism on opponents turn to fuse Apkallone in GY + DARK monster 7. Winda summoned.

I know you have ash, but you'd have to normal summon it, while e tele special summons..
How would you summon the Baronne in this deck? I agree that D Barrier is a pretty significant shutdown for this deck. As-is, your only option is to try to save your Dragoon negate for stuff like that, but you only get 1, so it's hard. Having an option like Baronne would definitely make the deck more versatile.

Sanctifier is good if you have lock cards like jowgen. You special to your opponent side and your side. Good card if you want to lock your opponent out of special summoning.
The fact DM doesn't have or banned cards really sucks. I took his list and added bystial line up. Allows me to get into chaos angel with full effect. Also you can get into it with DMG.
OCG PTSD. Dragoon terrorised the OCG for so long with no easy outs for it. Master Duel just copied the OCG ban list when it first started up. Konami Japan will probably keep it banned tho just cause of how strong it was over a year ago

I feel like in branded DM you'd play at least 1-2 aluber but I haven't messed with it in a year. Especially since if you do the lubellion play and keep albaz in the grave you can just special cartesia and your only on 2 normal summons anyway. But I could be wrong
Duality is absolutely cracked! Loza, I think what you're missing is that Duality on Grangangol gets you Dragoon! There's nothing like seeing someone try to Imperm your Gran, then dodging it with Duality, and suddenly you have both Dragoon and Winda on board. Nobody sees it coming! Then Duality activates in the grave, guaranteeing you have a card in hand for a Dragoon negate! It's literally a perfect card. How many decks can out an opening board of Dragoon, Winda, and Village?

Duality + Blazing Cartesia (which you have 6 copies of thanks to Fusion Deployment) + ANY monster in the deck = Dragoon + Winda + a free draw, AND it can be used to get around interrupts. It's one of the best cards in the deck. Mandatory 3 copies. You'll use them. What are you using Shadow's Light for? I cut it a while back and it's definitely been the right call for me.

@@Naxamus Sure! Step 1) Summon Blazing Cartesia. Step 2) Use her effect to fuse with any Dark monster on your field or hand to summon Granguignol the Dusk Dragon. (*Note: You can also use a Light monster, but Winda will require you to also have a Dark monster on either the field or in the GY. Very doable in this deck with cards like Magicians' Souls and Fusion Deployment, but just a heads up.) Step 3) On summon, Granguignol's effect attempts to activate, to send a Level 6 or higher Light or Dark monster from your Extra Deck to the graveyard. If your opponent tries to Imperm or Veiler you, you can chain Duality from your hand, targeting Granguignol. This sends him to the Graveyard, avoiding the hand-trap and allowing his effect to resolve. You can then continue the combo without change. For the sake of this example, assume there's no interrupt. Step 4) Grangignol's effect resolves, sending El Shaddoll Apkallone to the graveyard. This triggers Apkallone's effect, letting you discard any card in your hand to search for Shaddoll Schism from your deck. Set the schism. Step 5) If you still haven't played your Duality, play it now, targeting Granguinol. He's a Level 8 Light Spellcaster. You can now special summon any Level 8 Dark Spellcaster from your Extra Deck. Congratulations, you just summoned Dragoon! Step 6) During your opponents turn, wait for them to have a card on the field so you don't get Impermed, and then activate Schism, fusing El Shaddoll Apkalone with the other Dark monster in your graveyard. ---- You now have both Winda and Dragoon on the field! ---- (Also Schism stays on the field, so if they out the Winda, next turn you can summon a second one using the Winda in your GY and any Dark Monster.) ** Bonus Step 5.5) If you have another Dark monster in the GY besides Apkallone, activate Duality from the GY to shuffle back 1 Light and 1 Dark monster, then draw a card. This second Dark monster is easy if you started with Magician's Souls or a way to get to Magicians' Souls (i.e. you used Souls to send DM to the grave, summoned either it or DM to the field, and THEN fused it with Cartesia in Step 2) If this is extra card is Secret Village, we ballin. If it's Branded Fusion, get yourself a second Dragoon! If it's useless, congrats, you have extra Dragoon negate fodder. Just make sure not to shuffle back the Cartesia as your Light monster, because her effect will activate during the end phase, adding her back to your hand. You can either save her for next turn or, again, use her as your Dragoon discard. And remember, in this scenario, you still have 1 other card in your hand which could be another extender or a hand-trap to strengthen your board.

At that point it should just be a Branded Deck. The DM Engine is just bricks harder if it's not the majority of the deck as is.

I was wrong on this one. You have to send a lvl 6 or higher fusion so you cannot send the copy of winda.
I need an explanation as to why triple tactics thrust searching for the timaeus is bad?

To this day i just dont know why MD banned dragoon. there are stronger more annoying easier to play cards out there now.

Duality is pretty bad. Even Shadows Light is better.
@@jobejacobs62 no way man. Duality + Blazing Cartesia (which you have 6 copies of thanks to Fusion Deployment) + ANY monster in the deck = Dragoon + Winda + a free draw, AND it can be used to get around interrupts. It's one of the best cards in the deck. Mandatory 3 copies. You'll use them.
What are you using Shadow's Light for? I cut it a while back and it's definitely been the right call for me.
Can you explain how you would get both dragoon and winda on board with that duality play? I don't see it and I've never played duality before so pardon me if it's an obvious answer

Step 1) Summon Blazing Cartesia.
Step 2) Use her effect to fuse with any Dark monster on your field or hand to summon Granguignol the Dusk Dragon. (*Note: You can also use a Light monster, but Winda will require you to also have a Dark monster on either the field or in the GY. Very doable in this deck with cards like Magicians' Souls and Fusion Deployment, but just a heads up.)
Step 3) On summon, Granguignol's effect attempts to activate, to send a Level 6 or higher Light or Dark monster from your Extra Deck to the graveyard. If your opponent tries to Imperm or Veiler you, you can chain Duality from your hand, targeting Granguignol. This sends him to the Graveyard, avoiding the hand-trap and allowing his effect to resolve. You can then continue the combo without change. For the sake of this example, assume there's no interrupt.
Step 4) Grangignol's effect resolves, sending El Shaddoll Apkallone to the graveyard. This triggers Apkallone's effect, letting you discard any card in your hand to search for Shaddoll Schism from your deck. Set the schism.
Step 5) If you still haven't played your Duality, play it now, targeting Granguinol. He's a Level 8 Light Spellcaster. You can now special summon any Level 8 Dark Spellcaster from your Extra Deck. Congratulations, you just summoned Dragoon!
Step 6) During your opponents turn, wait for them to have a card on the field so you don't get Impermed, and then activate Schism, fusing El Shaddoll Apkalone with the other Dark monster in your graveyard.
---- You now have both Winda and Dragoon on the field! ----
(Also Schism stays on the field, so if they out the Winda, next turn you can summon a second one using the Winda in your GY and any Dark Monster.)
** Bonus Step 5.5) If you have another Dark monster in the GY besides Apkallone, activate Duality from the GY to shuffle back 1 Light and 1 Dark monster, then draw a card. This second Dark monster is easy if you started with Magician's Souls or a way to get to Magicians' Souls (i.e. you used Souls to send DM to the grave, summoned either it or DM to the field, and THEN fused it with Cartesia in Step 2)
If this is extra card is Secret Village, we ballin. If it's Branded Fusion, get yourself a second Dragoon! If it's useless, congrats, you have extra Dragoon negate fodder. Just make sure not to shuffle back the Cartesia as your Light monster, because her effect will activate during the end phase, adding her back to your hand. You can either save her for next turn or, again, use her as your Dragoon discard.
And remember, in this scenario, you still have 1 other card in your hand which could be another extender or a hand-trap to strengthen your board.
