I have 7 Omegas and the white dial 300 was my latest purchase. I bought it on rubber and now have it on Omega mesh. Just a great watch…no fails. Glad you saw the light and did a re-buy. Enjoy…and thanks for all of the great videos.
I need to look into a mesh bracelet now that you mention it! It really is a great watch it's just effortlessly on my wrist and it continuously amazes me even after all these years. I have this since December 2019. Still love it. Gets more wrist time than my sub, so much so that I sold the sub. Then I bought the Sub again, but the SMP still gets worn more.
The Seamaster is very polarizing with its non tapering bracelet, skeleton hands, and helium escape valve, but those are all the elements that make it so charming and love able. I personally wear the blue model on the bracelet, and it is my favorite watch in my 3 watch collection. I like larger dive watches so the Seamaster is my daily driver, the Black Pelagos FXD is my second most worn watch, and the Seiko PADI Turtle is my beater. I wouldn’t trade any of them.
I traded in my 20 year old Seamaster 300m…I wanted a Planet Ocean. I missed the watch for months… so finally I went to the dealer and asked if they still had it? They did…but it was in back because the salesman was gunna buy it. So, I asked if he would be too disappointed if I bought it back? Glad to have it back home. I’ve only had to service it twice….its really a great daily wear.
If they release 40mm version with slimmer case and 8900 caliber. It s going to be game changer. They need to update the bracelet as well or they might have alternative steel bracelet beside the current one
Sheeples are only interested in the 300. Not sure how anyone could call the SMP300 modern? It looks more Art Deco to me. 1980's at best. The PO is a stunning watch.

Can't go wrong with an SMP. Mine is the prepredecessor of the one shown here, the 2220.80 and I never thought about selling it. Owning another two Seamasters, a black 42mm Planet Ocean first gen and an orange Planet Ocean Chronograph first gen, I think I have enough Seamasters now. But if I were after one of the current SMPs it would be most likely the one with black bezel and white dial.
Congratulations! Looks great. My favorite SMP300 is the blue and chrome on the blue rubber strap. I keep fighting the temptation as I don’t need another diver especially in that price range. It is so beautiful and cool looking. I don’t sell many of my watches though I probably should. But I when do I never rebuy and don’t really think about those watches.
Great video as always! You show one version with oem rubber and deployant and another version with an after market rubber strap. Which is the one you purchased?
I’ve the white dial version on a red rubber strap and this watch is just awesome. As much as I like wearing my sea dweller 4000, the SMP is just my “gada” everyday timepiece.

But watching this video and seeing how much you love this watch I'm going to give it a much closer look! No idea which color to get though
40-41mm would have been ideal but the 42mm size feels well proportioned and not 42mm just for the sake of it which is nice. But definitely try it on in person if you havent done so already bc so much of its charm and experience is seeing what its like in different lights. When the latest version was released in 2018 it disappointed me because I felt that it was too flashy and one dimensional. In my mind I never considered buying one especially the silver dial with the blue bezel. I friend of mine has a jewelry store and got his hands on a pre-owned silver Seamaster. He offered the Seamaster to me for a very good price but I didn't accept the offer. About six months ago I took my Speedmaster in for a repair and while there I was again offered the silver SM for an absolute bargain. I accepted the offer half hearted and wore it occasionally until one day I put it on a Melanese mesh bracelet and now wear it more then what used to be my favorite pieces which are a Tudor reverse panda and a classic 20 year old 41mm Navitimer. How things have changed. We just never really know 😂
I just got into watch collecting. I've loved watches since I was young but I never had anyone teach me or bring deeper into the world. MAMACOO brought closer to a community and hobby I always wanted to get into more and that is incredibly meaningful to me !
I have this exact black dial SMP300 and it’s probably my favorite watch. It’s on a tropic strap right now. Is the OEM Omega black rubber strap worth the money?
No. I have mine on the tropic strap also and it's great. Tropic doesn't have the red color strap so I tried the Straphabit red tropic they have and it looks great on the watch.
I havent tried it on a tropic strap yet i should dig mine out and give it a go! Great to hear its a favorite of yours. As for the oem black rubber strap its easily the best rubber strap ive experienced however before you get one id suggest you try it on to make sure you're not in between strap holes. Im in between holes at the moment so i cant wear the strap which is sad but it came with the watch so i dont feel as bad. Also check out Uncle Straps he made a fitted rubber strap with the same design as the oem strap and its 40 or 50 dollars although i havent tried it myself so i dont know what its like but given his track record I'm sure it'll be good
a while ago when i wanted the SMP back but i couldnt justify rebuying the exact same color so i really wanted to get the the blue dial bc it looks great but none of the other colors quite had the same ceramic dial light effect that the black dial has. Now that I have the black dial i have zero regrets!
The 8800 is the better movement despite people saying its the 8900. The 8900 still has issues with the jumping hour hand. There is room to slim down the smp. 11mm should be doable. Omega needs to so this to their entire line
Selling Omegas would seem to produce considerable financial loss. Do you consider your purchase more of a rent/lease program? I'm wondering because I wanto sell a SM300 but have trouble with the offering price.
This watch is an 8/10. No one mentions ever using this in a pool or sea. Try turning that smooth and overly polished bezel without teeth with wet fingers! Can't believe this oversight.
My baby would slap her palm down on my smp300 and twist the bezel. Somehow it loosened it up and it is super or too easy to turn. Before that, I rarely used the bezel because it was so hard to turn.
I find the lack of grip on the bezel totally disappears when its wet. I can turn the bezel so easily when in the water. Ironically, I rarely use the bezel when wet...
But thats the beauty of the smp 300ms - the bezel shape - bcs is not a coin edge bezel it makes it more versatile. I can turn mine dry or wet no problem.
I feel like I spend too much time thinking about this watch and not knowing what to do about it. I own this black dial and the polished bezel electric blue neo vintage one in 36mm. I love omega and the ceramic bezel, the case, the lugs, the versatility for like every strap imaginable and the movement. For ages I spent all day every day wearing it, totally in love with it but I got to the point that in the evening I wanted to take it off cos it was just feeling a bit too heavy and cumbersome! And I genuinely feel on a 6.75 inch wrist it just looks a bit too big. I’m really enjoying wearing slimmer smaller watches now but I can’t quite decide what to do about it. I believe if it was 40mm and 1 mm thinner it would be the perfect watch! I’m just not sure I’m ready to give it up yet.
Yeah, I've got this exact watch brand new, except mine is 40-41mm... Paid $100 US shipped with box and boutique bag. Looks identical to yours...and keeps perfect time. I love it!!!
Watches came with 40h to 48h of power reserve for decades and nobody ever had a problem. Fast forward to now and people can't survive orless a watch has 70h power reserve LOL hilarious this hobby
It’s an improvement on the technology and its capacity, you’re saying you rather have old standards in modern watches? Well you can keep your 38 hours lol I’ll take my 70-120 hours of power reserve 🤣
Glad you asked bc i see the SPB383 as the seiko equivalent to the SMP! clean modern divers that are very different from each other but close in spirit. The SMP has so much to love in terms of visual elements as does the 383 but the SPB383 holds its own bc of its fantastic case design and the gmt function so I dont see the SMP replacing the 383 in that way. I'll plan on doing a comparison video btwn these two watches at some point bc theres quite a bit more to explore here
If that happened my wallet would be very happy lol! but no theres still so much out there to enjoy and experience in terms of watches so I'm here to stay!😀
The best watch you've ever owned? I thought you were a huge Titanium fan. This watch is not Titanium. I have personally never been a fan of this watch. To me that huge wart of a helium escape valve sticking out is hideous. If you like it though, that's all that matters. Congratulations!
@sinjinadams2862 I definitely love titanium and if this exact SMP was titanium id love it even more! But just bc I love titanium watches doesnt mean that i dont love watches of other materials it just means theres more to love😁

After 12 years in the hobby, meaning I have been lucky enough to purchase watches at pre Covid prices (Rolex Explorer, Speedmaster 357050, Breitling Premier, Omega Seamaster 300), I have seen the « new watch » excitement decline.

Thankfully its easy to get excited about this SMP considering my love for it but for me each watch has something unique to offer and get excited about so I'm glad that it comes through in my videos. Yeah, I've got this exact watch brand new, except mine is 40-41mm... Paid $100 US shipped with box and boutique bag. Looks identical to yours...and keeps perfect time. I love it!!!
Needs higher power reserve. 70 hours at least
How does it compare to your spb383?
Glad you asked bc i see the SPB383 as the seiko equivalent to the SMP! clean modern divers that are very different from each other but close in spirit. The SMP has so much to love in terms of visual elements as does the 383 but the SPB383 holds its own bc of its fantastic case design and the gmt function so I dont see the SMP replacing the 383 in that way.
I'll plan on doing a comparison video btwn these two watches at some point bc theres quite a bit more to explore here
As a broke boy and actual enthusiast who wants watch’s prices to crater, AMZWATCH is a good choice.
Tissot SeaStar 600M is better value hands down.
El mejor diver si lo hicieran en 38 mm automático
Just got my seaweed full set and bracelet for 3700$. Crazy value for the money. Shop around and buy CHEAP
just sold mine. it's not for me
Does this mean no more watches? No more reviews? One and done?
If that happened my wallet would be very happy lol! but no theres still so much out there to enjoy and experience in terms of watches so I'm here to stay!😀
5:55 It's not the movement that's METAS certified, the entire watch is. That's the whole point of METAS.
Do you like it more than your black Pelagos?
I absolutely love my pelagos but now that I've got this smp back i think this takes the top spot which is still weird for me to say!
@ And if we go further and had to chose one watch between Pelagos and SMP. You would pick SMP?
Man don't cheapen out and buy the original rubber strap with the curved end and folding clasp
Great watch, but it will be gone in 18 months or less.
Such an ugly watch
Pelagos all day long over this. Ymmv.
The best watch you've ever owned? I thought you were a huge Titanium fan. This watch is not Titanium. I have personally never been a fan of this watch. To me that huge wart of a helium escape valve sticking out is hideous. If you like it though, that's all that matters. Congratulations!
Yeah… I give it a few months until there is another best watch 😂
@sinjinadams2862 I definitely love titanium and if this exact SMP was titanium id love it even more! But just bc I love titanium watches doesnt mean that i dont love watches of other materials it just means theres more to love😁
Meh...
I’ve had to shut the video half way through - so much waffle I can’t take it………
Get out more. You're caught in an unhealthy snare of consumeristic neurosis. seriously.
Minimalism can also be toxic. Ahem ^ 🙄😕
I admire how the « watch fire » still burns in you, despite having seen so many pieces over the years.
After 12 years in the hobby, meaning I have been lucky enough to purchase watches at pre Covid prices (Rolex Explorer, Speedmaster 357050, Breitling Premier, Omega Seamaster 300), I have seen the « new watch » excitement decline.
I really appreciate your comment! Thankfully its easy to get excited about this SMP considering my love for it but for me each watch has something unique to offer and get excited about so I'm glad that it comes through in my videos. Looks like youve got yourself a pretty awesome collection but who knows maybe a future release will have that extra spark!
