- Hey everyone! We're Eric Lagerstrom and Paula Findlay. We're professional triathletes and normally, we're racing and training full-time, earning a living.
Nothing is "normal" these days, but one of the silver linings is that we have a little extra time to do things that we've always wanted to.. I've put more time into honing my video creation skills, we've done some epic rides, and now.. we got a dog. We've always wanted one and believed that we could manage it with our schedule, but the process of finding the right one, picking him up, training him properly... we just couldn't fit THAT into our hectic routine. This is a lot different than our normal videos, but it was the most insane week of our lives.

Flynn is now the headline guys!! woop woop! We have 2 black labs and they come on the road with us everywhere and to race events in the Van. Camping and events are even more fun as there is something else to discuss or point at and laugh pre race! I have to agree with some of the comments below though Eric, Paula is away now, puppy brain and speak has arrived. ENJOY!!!

I'm sorry for your troubles. Remember, how we handle these yucky stressful situations is what will decide how the two of you will react to other situations down the road. Be patient, be kind, and let life happen. The other stuff doesn't matter.
I'm divorced and took the wrong path one two many times.
Paula: “Flynn slept all night, it was super cool”.
Eric: “Good boy!”....”We praise him when he’s in the crate. Oh, now he’s out of the crate”.
Paula: “Noooo, oh no. That’s bad. Noooo”.

What a week. Welcome Flynn! When he is older then you can run with him, it is one of the most fun and relaxing ways to exercise/train! You need to wait until he’s a bit older and his bones and joints are fully developed first though.
Congratulations, you guys are entering another phase of your lives, vehicle trouble and a new puppy, happens to the best of people!

Great stuff I had a germain short hair pointer for 14 years he was a big part of our family. That’s the perfect dog for you guys he loves exercising all day you’ll never burn him out. Good luck lol

Search out: Little and Big Cottonwood canyons, Emigration canyon (you were close to it at the university), City Creek canyon (right downtown and closed to cars). there's great flat riding too. Antelope Island and back from downtown could net you 100miles with almost no climbing. You can also ride out to the old "Great Saltair" with no climbing. Plenty of trails and hiking right downtown as well for you and Flynn. You don't really need a car in SLC unless the train doesn't go where you want it to go. I wouldn't leave your bikes unlocked or even lock up your nice bikes, petty theft is pretty common in SLC. Everything else is safe and great. Enjoy!

I feel bad for many reasons.... I feel bad for you two and the van, I cannot imagine how frustrating it is. I also feel bad because I’m pretty sure Flynn took a piss at the end of the video and the look on Eric’s face was priceless. Flynn makes everything tolerable though! I wish I could help 😔

Massive kudos on completing the video while being on the road and having to deal with SO MUCH! I enjoyed watching it. So happy to see the new addition of the puppy into your lives, this is going to be super exciting, I can see the excitement & gleam in Paula's eyes already. Tough luck with the Van, hope the fuel pump situation gets resolved and that you don't have to shell out too much to get it back in shape.

As a ASE certified mechanic if u can’t find the leak put dye in the fuel system and u will find the leak by looking for the dye with a light . Didn’t want to be one of those guys that comments on here like I know everything but it works and have fixed a lot of leaks that other mechanics could not find . Do what u want wth the info .
I think* the second time was the charm and it’s resolved now, but thank you, that’s an awesome tip! I’m sure we haven’t experienced the end of leaks with this van.. plan on keeping it for the long haul

7:32 to 7:35 awesome drone shot! I don't know how you pulled this one together with the van troubles and getting a new dog. You both handled the situation well.
Despite all the stress, still some awesome footage of Utah's natural beauty. I can't figure how you got that drone shot @ 7:30 into the vid. The Sprinter is a white spect in this massive canyon and the music is right on. Sheer genius Eric - massive cngrats!

Hi Paula and Eric, love the vblog. I maybe wrong on this, but I think Flynn is a wire haired pointed griffon, better known as a "griff". Level 5 on the 0-5 active scale. Suits you guy's to a tee.
Yes he is! He's a 50/50 mix of a wire-haired and shorthaired pointer

well it was an up and down week and Flynn is a definite +.........sorry about the van woes but life seems to be a sh@t show now anyway. So one of my ups is your vlog and my training . As always.....great vlog. Not sure if i mentioned but my first name is Eric and my middle name is Paul and when was was young I had red highlights in my beard (now everything grey...UGH) so maybe I'm related to flynn too.

If you think unexpected van repair bills suck, wait till Flynn tears a ligament or gets sick :( . If you haven't already looked into pet insurance I highly highly recommend it.

Yeah a lot of people do, but standing next to a griffon he’s significantly taller and lankier.

When we take the van, we take it to places where we don’t have to ride the trainer ;) but if we do, we’re renting/borrowing someone’s house with a garage

Sorry to hear that :( Flynn is a german wirehair pointer. He's VERY VERY high energy, so I honestly wouldn't recommend a pointer unless you're ready to do 2hrs of off-leash walking each day or have an acre+ property to roam. They're fun if you can though :)
