That's what I was thinking, too. It's really interesting to us to watch the conversation on social media. I guess it's easy to point to the people who aren't spending as much and say that if we would spend more then the problem would go away. I'm not mad. I'm just keep trying to figure out their line of reasoning. It seems flawed to me.
The older I get the more things I get rid of…..I don’t buy for each season anymore…..I don’t keep up with what’s in style …I only buy what my needs are which are getting less due to the economy ! God Bless America ❤
The people who don't appreciate your message can move on to a different channel . Those of us that want ideas of how we can keep more of our money or spend in a smarter way are the ones that you should focus on. Forget the haters. You guys are great ❤❤❤❤
There’s NO WAY . For example, my parents & 2 of his brothers ( & their families) are frugal & have been all their life ( since kids ). BUT the other brothers & sisters , refuse to be frugal ; they have to buy name brand & always say “why should I do without ? That’s why I work ; to buy everything I want & not do without “.
i have been studying how people survived the great depression urs. esp food wise. i have been trying to implement the various recipes. that people ate to eat. my one goal is to double on the vegis. eat way less meat and carbs. more beans. and looking at recipes where i can season the beans that will make them taste like meat (beef and or chicken). ihave cut my electric down. my internet is down too. im asking all my bills companies how i can get lower prices. i dont ear out anymore. i cook much much more. i look at you tube channels like urs. or southern frugal momma or prepper princess or living on a fime to grow rich. and. just taking one moment at a time to be as frugal as possible. ty for all u do for us. i know i appreciate it
I think overconsumerism has caused the debt economy we have. People opting out of that mentality is not only good for their personal finances, but it’s also better for the planet.
The economy has to do with policies the Administration makes - frugality has nothing to do with it. Frugality is often the result of a bad economy/ high inflation- You two are providing great advice. So, keep up the great work! 😊💰👍
Frugality or sustainability as a pure lifestyle in the US is very small. Many people use bits and pieces but not as a lifestyle. I don't think they make up much of the economy. Many people aren't ready for it. It makes me laugh when they say to me that it's unAmerican. I would have to say how I live is very different from most Americans. My payoff was early retirement! Keep the videos coming.
Frugality doesn’t mean not spending it just means being more mindful of what you spend etc. hopefully it would get rid of all the cheap/bad for the environment plastic tat that show up in our shops close to Halloween here in the uk. Also buying quality over anything rather than buying cheap shoes for £30 get quality shoes for £90 🥰
I am no economist either. But it is said that the government depends 75% on taxes and our spending as consumers. Well, we have all noticed that our government has managed to get us into over 35 trillion dollars worth of debt. Our nation is now not able to completely cover just the INTEREST on this debt. Our government has squandered our taxpayer dollars and the money we have put into Social Security, having borrowed against that. As a nation, we are finding it harder to keep up with what the economy and inflation is doing to us. While it has increased taxes on goods and food massively as costs for virtually everything has skyrocketed, our government has sent a lot of it to other countries while taking on the burden of 160 countries' migrants flooding our shores. I believe that the more frugal we get, the higher the prices for everything go, because the government and big business are going to get their money one way or another. We are being forced into frugality, with the exception of those who have planned ahead and have made a good life for themselves without having to worry. But for the biggest part of society, it is a struggle. It is beyond a struggle. It is the demise of the middle and lower classes. But since they are the foundation of everything above them, they will bring down the whole system. It must reboot. What that looks like is anyone's guess. So, no, being frugal is just surviving, and most have no choice. Some don't have enough money to even BE frugal. How is one frugal when they have zero money, little hope for a job, no hope for a place to live, and no or very little government help? These are just my thoughts.💗
Hi Both, I watch your channel because you make me smile, You are Two lovely people. I have looked at the Kwh. Form you talked about, and i am going to have a go at it. I've always been frugal, i would never blame you. ❤ . Great channel, kind and gentle people. X Sandra. North Wales Britain 🇬🇧
Millionaire next door is the book that turned me on to frugally. The final chapter is telling. I've been debt Free since 2009. 9/11/24 changed my life. The tree took out the power pole the city will not allow power to be turned on until I put something permanent on the property. Ok I'll do my best but I'm not going into debt to please them. I'll sell learn to live from my car. I'm not interested in debt. I've come up with solutions they shoot them down. Sorry but I'm not going to extreme debt.
I do kind of feel guilty that my husband works for a beverage distributor and that our livelihood depends on the industry- but we never support the industry because we don’t drink beer or wine and hardly ever even buy any bottled beverages whatsoever.
When you are concerned about the keeping afloat by not throwing money out of the window. Listen I have been getting by with food banks but often canned food is salty and I rinse it four times to make it edible. Please never give up❤
I quess frugality will increase the demand of custom-made products, local production, mending, repairing, customizing. This most likely increase local work. When instead of buing new (chinese) mass-producted items, by utilizing old products and materials frugal people also save valuable new raw materials which is an essential factor for economy in the long run.
Great video as we are paying down debt and having to replace items as they wear out we are buying better quality. For example we replaced our washer with a speed queen washer. This is has saved us in continuous repairs. Which is freeing up money. To pay down more debt and save for quality items as needed. This has been a game changer for us.
I replaced a vehicle with a newer used vehicle that is wider than my older one. I do pay about a $1000 a year more for a vehicle that is 16 years newer.. Many things about my driving experience are more pleasant now... For instance at a click of a button I can see the air pressure on my tires as opposed to getting out with the tire gauge to check it... Because the vehicle is wider and because I am not too tall, I can sleep in the back seat..on a mattress crafted to the right size by a mattress factory company. I save on motel costs in the early and late summer . I saved $300 for the week on a recent work required trip... Probably on an annual basis I will save more than the $1000 a year added expense.
I have to buy a new stove I didn't realize I left a glass Pyrex dish in my oven while cooking something else it shattered im glad I have the cash to purchase this without using credit cards
It's very interesting topic but I honestly don't believe for one minute that there's going to be enough frugal people to highly impact economy. The sad truth is people are getting poorer and poorer and they have to spend less, that doesn't mean they are frugal. They are looking for the ways to cut their spending so frugal content is trending but it doesn't mean that would have a lasting effect on them once they have more money. The whole conversation makes me think of the interview I saw with author Fumio Sasaki, who is extreme minimalist. He wasn't really talking about being frugal but minimalist but these 2 things often overlap, he said that only because others work hard (on innovations and getting capitalism rolling) he is able to lead this wonderful life and he promised never to forget about them. I feel a little bit the same. Just because others overspend often, I can go to hairdresser twice a year or go out with a friend every couple of months. But I am not a type of client to keep the buissness rolling.
Yes--nailed it...prior to 2019-there was so much growth with stores being built that in many areas one did not even have to go two city blocks to find a drug store, a coffee outlet or two and fast food of some sort. I couldn't help but think of the overreach in many areas that there would be two major drug stores (pharmacies) build right across the street from each other or next to each other. So ownership for an unsustaining economy also goes to the greedy companies who poorly planned.
I do not feel a need to further enrich mega corporations and their rich major shareholders through buying over-priced stuff -- on credit -- that I do not need. I prefer to live debt-free in an older home my spouse and I own outright and to continue to drive older vehicles we also own outright. We pay our credit card statement in full each month because we hate paying interest on borrowed money. And we frugally cook at home most of our meals and usually brew our coffee and tea at home too. If we spurge on a small luxury, you can bet we shopped around first to find the best price. Any fool can get themselves deeply in debt with impulsive or unwise purchases. It takes wisdom and self-discipline to live within one's means, to resist temptation and to build wealth instead of debt.
Since having some heart issues this year I have driven only once or twice- short distances- since then. I told my Cardiologist that was ok- I have spent w a y less $$. ( He said, I wish you would get my wife on board with that ! 😂
I don't feel guilty when a store that offers expensive fluff items closed down or a bad tv show get cancelled - it just wasn't for me, and probably others too. That's ok.
The Economy Is Destroyed already. Thus the need to be as Frugal as possible. 🏪With so many stores closing, it is wise to buy our essentials now at best deal possible before they become: a) unavailable or... b) prices sky rocket.
I do kind of feel guilty that my husband works for a beverage distributor and that our livelihood depends on the industry- but we never support the industry because we don’t drink beer or wine and hardly ever even buy any bottled beverages whatsoever.
Right now, credit and debt payments probably have a bigger impact on the economy than frugality.
That's what I was thinking, too. It's really interesting to us to watch the conversation on social media. Frugality takes away the power from banks and corporations, and gives it to the consumer.
That “everyone” would become frugal is not something I would worry about- ever😂

What a kind comment. Thank you, redlove!
Responding to your headline before the show begins. We can not spend our way to economic prosperity either on a personal or national level.
So true!
Yes! There is a time to spend and a time to save. There has to be balance and a view toward the future.
It really depends on what our government spends money on and the long-term effect of those expenditures.
People are going to blame everyone except themselves....
I was brought up to be frugal and it has served me well. I am now ready for retirement and in good shape🤗
Any economic system that faces collapse because people decide to save in order to improve their individual situation deserves to fail.
Hi Hope and Larry. Economics change and shift and there’s always ways for businesses to make a profit. We don’t need to worry about them.😊
I've always been frugal. And now, in this economy, I need to be even more careful with my money.
Frugality will cause prices to come down. Frugality makes you spend money with purpose.
you guys are great, always refreshing

Way more people are not going to be frugile. People want what they want. Period.
Until they run out of money and they will. Not sustainable.

I am labeled by family and friends as being stingy. They even called me Scrooge McDuck. I think they do not understand what is being frugal.
That is me I’m the one that said it! Impulse buying spending of the money keeps everything going round and round
LOLS ;0
Frugally might not be mainstream bankruptcy will. Starvation too.
Frugality brings down price, companies have gouged us for the past few years.
So true. Everyone should be frugal then retailers would have to adjust their prices. ❤

So well said! Thank you for a great dosage of common sense ❤️
I can't tell you how much I appreciate you both NOT ever bringing politics onto your channel.
Yes, be frugal but when you buy choose quality. When you eat and drink choose less but healthy rather than much with nothing of worth for your body.
Upcycling is fantastic - financially and environmentally
Thanks for this video.
So much of what people buy is useless ‘plastic’ junk.
The one thing I never buy are holiday decorations (except for Christmas). To me it’s just a waste of money.
Ever notice that when people are spending all their money and using credit, this is called a “strong economy?”
I believe you are right on with your frugal philosophy! I feel our economy would be better if like our ancestors we were more frugal and more saving .
Excellent video 😊

It is more likely that frugality will save the economy.
Sometimes you must destroy to create something better. Inflation, shrinkflation, greed, need to be quelled.
Hello, from GA
Make a plan and pay off credit cards. It will hurt for a moment, but your life will be so much better.

Also what people forget is that by being frugal/less wasteful you are also be being good stewards of the environment
Then save. Buy what you need. Keep spending below your income including your savings amount

So everyone needs to over spend to save America?? I don’t think so.
