My favorite Jackie Chan film and one of my all time favorite action film. I still need to see Hong Kong version however. That’s killing me inside. Hopefully it will get a blu ray release one day.
Jackie was such a badass in this. The great thing about Jackie is not just the martial arts, stunts, and comedy but the ability to use the environment as a weapon. And that hovercraft injury though. I remember the The Lawnmower Man and Mortal Kombat on the VHS of the movie.
Love this movie and this was also one of the first films to introduce me to Jackie Chan along with Police Story, Police Story 2, Mr. Nice Guy, Strike Force and of course Rush Hour.
This I believe was the first Jackie Chan movie I saw on network TV, my brother and I already knew Jackie from watching Fearless Hyena and Police Story 2 as we were big Kung-Fu and Martial Arts movie fans. But when we saw Rumble in the Bronx we immediately made it a regular rental at the video store. The glass bottle scene was edited on the DVD which bothered me. Speaking of the glass bottles, the plausibility of wether or not the bottles would break from a bat strike. It seems possible. I do know that Empty glass bottles are harder to break than full ones and in the movie they also wrapped the bats with towels to soften the impact as I recall.
A 90s classic, I love Rumble In The Bronx. 20:29 The gang members I think wrapped up the bats with some kind of clothing in that scene, I think steel bats would for sure break those bottles but like you said some glass bottles are thick as well. This film Definitely in my Top 3 of Jackie Chan films. Great review!

The Sega Game Gear game used in the movie by Danny is of course called nothing !

Hey Matt, great review,i think the thing with the bats they wrap rags around them to stop them from shattering.
Correct, the gang is seen wrapping rags around their baseball bats prior to using them to hit the bottles at Jackie's character.
