It doesn't matter when it was "set" because it never existed - it's a video game, no video game will ever be 100% accurate to a time period. To whomever is nit-picking over a setting, congratulations you're officially an idiot.
my opinion: I wouldn't say this is "medieval" times. Its literally set in the early 1700's colonial era. When settlers came to the "new world" this is a town that was developed in that age of exploration.
Super cute game! I loooove the look of it. I'll admit, it's not for me since I'm not into farming sims, but it looks really cool and I love that it isn't modern!
I'm actually somewhat on edge about buying the game, while it's cute, it's just not really my style, but watching your review, it really looks like fun
The devs were not kidding when they said that the game is cozy with consequences! Thank you for the video, Miss Bubbles! I am ready to fight the villagers if they take Rowland away from me hahaha! The death cake is ready, jk haha! 😈😱🍄
It's so weird to me that everyone else has had such bad tragedies happen in their game. I only have fishing, decay and durability turned off and the worst my character got was the common cold, disease hasn't swept through the town, nobody stole my wife, it was easy to have kids both biologically and adopted...and I'm in Summer of Year 2! I haven't even died of old age yet, though that could happen at any moment. I'm disgustingly rich and have 2 pillars done, the rest are almost there.
I haven't had disease spread yet and I have gotten married so I'm assuming it's all random. I've only turned off tool durability so far and I'm glad those options are available to toggle on/off. I'm excited for controller support though.
I decided I wanted to marry an NPC who was already married, so I bided my time until her husband had an "accident" and then I swooped in like the scumbag I am.
I was waiting for this video!! Thank you so much for reviewing this for all of us, and also for the tips! This game looks even more fun and chaotic now 😍🤣
The elements of death, danger, loss and sickness made this game not really for me, which is sad because I really wanted to love it after liking a very early demo. All the stuff that isn't my jam is of course what makes this game unique, and I respect that. Also loved the paper mario like design. Thanks for the fair review, I'm glad this game has found a strong audience though filled with those looking for something different in farming games.
100% the charm is the survival mechanics which is why I don't recommend turning them off so the best thing I can think of is for the devs to balance diseases for now. But I don't know how that impacts the coding of the game
@@MissBubbles agreed, and I think it's good to have games that push the norms. Not sure how if any changes might play out, may get buggy, it seems to be running pretty good atm so not sure if they will do it. But if enough players ask maybe they might tweak it some more
I played the demo on Steam Deck way before launch and it worked really well. The only issue was keyboard input during character design, iirc, I had to go with the autogenerated name. Actual gameplay worked fine, though I never got the witch or caves so idk if there might be issues there. I'd guess it's perfectly playable on the Deck, though, based on my experience. I haven't played the full game yet, but I definitely will at some point. It's got a lot of potential, for sure.
This game looks pretty good thoufh personally I'd probably have to turn off at least one of the chaotic features in order to keep some sanity lol. I think this game is really creative.
It reminds me of Paper Mario as well its sequel (The Thousand-Year Door) because of the paper-style graphics combining 2D characters with 3D worlds except Echoes of the Plum Grove being a farming sim rather than an RPG.
So nice video! I agree it is a very ASMR experience with the background noises. One question: if you sell a medicine to a sick character will it make them better?
I loved the demo and bought it right away. And really struggled. Came back to it after palia, and got into it more. Then i died 😂 i got a rare steam achievement of dying?!?! After two in game weeks hahaha 😂😂😂
I know a lot of people won’t like what I’m about to say but I don’t like games with tragedy. Especially when your best friend dies at the start. It’s dad and depressing. Yes some games do make me depressed and sad (don’t get me started on the ending of Dust: An Elysian Tale and Plague Tale Requiem). I didn’t like how much death is in the game. Also didn’t like how they did the community center like feature in this game. Helping the ghosts of those who had died. That just made me more depressed. I ended up getting a refund cuz I just didn’t enjoy it. Ty for your honest review!
That's totally okay and I appreciate you sharing. Not everyone will like this game but you gotta play what is pleasant to you. If something makes you miserable, skipping it is best (even if it seems like everyone else is loving it)
@@MissBubbles Oh yeah! Defeats the purpose of playing if you’re not enjoying it 😅. There’s lots of games that lots of people enjoy that I just don’t and there’s nothing wrong with that. The important thing is that we all enjoy gaming. 😁
I've got the game, cdkeys had a great price for the game. I don't play the game much is cause I don't want to start over if something goes wrong. Can I play with the kids that survive if the parents die? And not play from scratch.
Yes you can :) Everything transfers to you except skills, relationships, and the clothes on your back. You can also turn off player aging or all aging and all diseases
I love it. But its a little too shallow.... Ut i was disappointed to get another community center..that doesnt have to be part of every game. So tedious, especially as things rot.
This would be a game perfect for me if it wasn't for the art style. I love the consequences and lively town. But I reeeeally dont like 2D 3D, especially the paper mario feel. Maybe one day when it's already a bit older and cheaper I might get it so that I don't feel bad if I'm only playing for a few hours haha.
I'll be fair, I didn't like the graphics. Not really a fan of the "paper" style. I didn't like how the developers were being shifty about the game mechanics either, it's like they were trying to rope the "cosy crowd" into a survival game. I did like how it was well written though.
It's definitely not a cozy game unless you turn off all the survival mechanics. However, I'm not sure it will keep you hooked for long if non of the mechanics are present.
The facts there are so many deaths alone around me make me feel depressed which is way l play cozy games so i can forget my depression and at this way I'll only be more stressed sooooo...no thanks not gonna play it..... Thanks for the warning 😔
This is why I genuinely think this is not for everyone and I had to make sure you know about the issues as it's not comforting to deal with all this chaos for some

You can always kill the person who stole your partner by giving them a death cake LOL

I hope so too! Doesn't seem too graphically intensive so fingers crossed 🤞🏻

It's very different from typical farming games indeed!

I actually have no idea, I do know that the devs are planning to let you inoculate your whole family and cure them but not sure about other NPCs
It's planned that sick NPCs will request potions through quests in a future update soon😊
Great review! I love the medieval theme also. Thanks for warning its a bit grindy
