After several videos, I finally found my riddle explaination: understanding which part to go Counter ClockWise, and which Clockwise. Servicing and Installation is a bonus. Thank You a Bunch!!!
My freewheel was so incredibly tight on the hub that I wasn't able to loosen it without it spinning in the vise. I ended up putting a pipe wrench on the smooth area between the pawl slots, and after some huffing and puffing, managed to free it. The pipe wrench left some teeth marks in the freewheel, but those surfaces don't interact with anything, so it didn't affect the function.
So weird, I'm used to watching Cars & Cameras. Genuinely needed to know this and I come across you. Haha caught me off guard for a second. Year's and Year's ago I needed to know something about a small engine and I came across your brother and his friend in a garage. Thank you, you explain things alot better😂 All jokes aside thanks for the tips and tricks!
Great tips on getting that "non-removable" freewheel off, Jason! 😎 However, I don't know why on earth you'd ever bother to reassemble it (I assume this was purely for demonstration purposes)... Dicta freewheels are junk! Lol. Stick with ACS, Shimano, etc. Definitely something that you can remove, if need be. 👍
It was just for demonstration. That is why I was saying that it was best to just buy a good one. If you look in the video again you'll notice that the black freewheel is a BMX SunTour freewheel. Those go for over $50. Thanks for commenting.👍
Helpful and well done. Sometimes they just pug them on backwards too. I got one off and the back side had the tool interface, but mostly its exactly like you show. Great job.
Those things drive me mad! Why the manufacturer doesn't at least put a couple of slots for a simple bar to go in I don't know! But when you go to all the trouble to put it back together you'll find out if you've mis-counted the bearings as the darn thing will lock up!
It depends on your flip flop hub. Some hubs handle different sized freewheels with no problem. It depends on what size freewheel you want. I don't know the hub you have so I will try to make it easy. If you have the bmx style flip flop with a lager diameter thead on one side that accepts 15t(AC freewheel only) 16t-22 tooth is the most common. You have a smaller diameter side that works with 13t-15 tooth freewheels. There are some Chinese freewheels that are 13 tooth and 14 tooth that will work with the larger thead but are a poor quality and don't last long. There are the step down thread hubs that are used for fixed gear as well. Where the smaller thead is reversed to accommodate a lockring to keep the gear from coming off. Some people use a freewheel on this at the risk of the theads stripping due to less material. There is also the different threads themselves. You have English thead(1.29x24) or Italian thead(1.32x24) or old French (33x1mm). If your not sure you can take it to your local bike shop. Any seasoned technician will know how to help you. Goodluck.👍
The other way you can remove it is if you know someone with a welder. You can have them tack weld the freewheel and remove it that way. I will try to make a video on it. You might have to take it to your local bike shop. They shouldn't charge more then $5-$10. Goodluck.👍
You should be able to get them at your local bike shop. There are several sizes and go between $2-$8. If they want more then $8 just walk away. Some barrels can be expensive but I'm sure it should not be more than $4. Goodluck.👍
Why not start wrenching? You get to understand the mechanical engineering of the machine you like to ride. Then, after a while of doing crazy repairs, you have a massive parts bin you can make funky builds with
I'm sorry your rim is messed up. Everything I showed is straight forward and does not damage anything except the freewheel. Freewheels are not expensive and its a perfect opportunity to put a better one on that uses a tool. This video was to show you how to be able to remove a bad non removable freewheel. It is very difficult to put a freewheel back together but if your putting a new one on it doesn't matter. You are welcome to come by if possible and I would be happy to help. I have used this method a hundred times over the years and it has worked every single time. I wish you Goodluck and I'm serious about helping out if I can.👍

this video is exactly what I was lookin for a whole day!
I'm glad it helped.👍

You gotta do what you gotta do.👍

thx for the vid, needed it in order to service a freewheel on a kids bike. they tend to use a lot of BMX components for those.

Wow super great information 👏 💯
I have the exact same freewheel on a wheel I have kicking around. Looks like I have some work ahead of me :)
Goodluck!👍
Thanks for your help
Thank you.👍
Excellent video! I want to add 2 different sprockets to a flip flop freewheel. What do I need to do this ?

hey what punch were you using
Great video! I had to get one of these cheap freewheels off a WeeHoo trailer wheel, and it was NOT fun!
sir, if i remove the free wheel i can now attach an a fixed gear?
please answer me
Yes you have to use a lockring but even then it's not made for a fixed gear. So in other words Yes but it's not the best idea. I hope that helps.👍
@@alloutbikes oh okay thx, that the same answer i found online
Thank you !
my freewheel got stuck it cant disassembly

I need barrels for a huffy bake

Oh this should be a good one guys 😉 👍
Thanks.👍
rest assured i will not be changing anything on a bike except the seat. stay well
I hope you don't need to.👍

I know that voice anywhere!
👍
I recognize his brother voice. It'll be fine
U messed my rim up nice rim I thought I was taking it off so I can use it mf now I got 2 rims that needs freewheels

Helped a lot, was thinking about disassembly, and found your video. Will just buy new one🫣👍
Glad it helped.👍
