great video thank you. I am just curious as to how you got all those appliances (refer, micro, etc.) all plugged into One surge protector? I am trying to visualize how you would do that. Some extension cords all running to one surge protector? Thanks.
Uhm… that’s a 12 awg Wire, should not feeding more than 20 amps per leg. That fact that it got to 30 is means there is too much being hooked up on 1 leg, you need to balance your loads
Uhm... The video title says: How to Check Amperage on Breaker. That's exactly what he did. This video is about using an amp probe; not wire gauge, nor acceptable circuit loads. At the 50-second mark... he says that he tied them all into one circuit, for the sake of showing you the actual amp draw. Pretty sure he knows what he's doing.
What causes a white buildup on a circuit breaker ? My dryer breaker(220v dbl pole) has been developing a whiteish buildup in recent months, it tripped for no apparent reason. I reset, it runs , but I can hear breaker arcing, after a few minutes it stopped arcing (dryer still running ok it seems) is there underlying problem with dryer or breaker ?
I would absolutely suggest turning the main off, disconnecting the breaker in question, tightening everything up,reconnect, and see if it still makes that noise,if so replace the noisy breaker. Also ensure that nothing else besides the dryer is being ran on that breaker. There are 3 places on a dryer where they place the label that has the specifications for that dryer. Find that, see how many amps it uses, and make sure its no more that 80% of the breaker you are using,so if it uses 60amps,your breaker should be atleast 75amps "I know that they don't have that size, just using it as an example". Be careful with the white wire as it may be a hot in your scenario and can hurt or kill ya. If it is a hot white, make sure to wrap black tape around the white wire at the plug in and at the breaker,so that people in the future will know that white wire is a hot. Long story short, ensure it's all tight, and a independent line for dryer,if so and it still makes noise, ensure it is a strong enough breaker "but not too strong" and replace the breaker to be safe. 28$ and 20mins of your life is worth not losing your home and/or life. Best of luck to ya. I do not intend on stepping on anyone's toes by answering, but if you would like any other advice or info for your situation, just holla,I'll gladly help if I can.
You should never hook your refrigerator into a surge protector outlet you should have a dedicated line to your refrigerator because if the surge protector pops due to all the other appliances you could lose all your food.
You may have already found out. I was going to ask,are you testing right at the main breaker switch? If so it could be just the small residual effect of the electricity meter current detection system. The way the wheel turns and the speed of which is dependent upon how much electricity you are using, and that's how they keep track of you consumption. That wheel may be causing the drawl of one amp. Hope this helps.
finally I found a video on how to use the main purpose of this clamp. wasn't easy to find.
Great Tips Good Stuff Very Clear Understanding 👍 Thanks!
This video kicks ass.Helped me out big time.Thank you sir.
Thank you very much for your information you’re video is helpful I will do it to make sure my Gfci is protected

This was great info
What up Sam? Great video
VERY helpful. Thanks.
Thanks buddy. Spot on
Thanks bro great video
Good video
Thank you!
Was the surge protector got damaged ?

Same question
I'm late, but same here.

This is why code says all appliances need to be on separate breakers
What code? Lol It’s just states that you have at least 2 appliances loads

Too many variables to give you an answer, Wire size? Amp rating of dryer? Loose Terminal connections?

Amps should not exceed 80% of breaker amp rating
But it can handle %100 so it might not trip long as he cuts it off and turn back on quickly
What does this have to do with using an amp probe?
I turn all my breakers off and leave the main on and I still have 1 amp draw from one leg. How is that possible?

Drawl?
Why is it showing a 30.5 amp draw and the 20 amp breaker didn't trip?
Greg must be federal pacific
I think heat building up in wire trips breaker, takes time
The Surge suppressor should have tripped after 15 amps.
@@joecapes5211 so what will happen if it doesn't ? Fire? Should one consider new breakers? (Of course, After balancing the load)
@@MrsBuddevil Yes, possibly fire.
Don't you need to replace a 20 amp breaker that doesn't trip at 30 amps???
Yes, if a breaker exceeds those limits it should be replaced immediately.
Have u ever heard of dedicated circuits?? Some appliances by code should be dedicated.. your showing people wrong
Clearly, you didn't read the description of the video.
