Well it finally happened....a McNeilus ZR doing a route in Henderson! I heard that 8 of these units were purchased for the Henderson yard, but they were supposed to be running in Las Vegas. It looks like they're using them here as well, although no Python units have been scrapped or sent off yet so these trucks are probably just extra trucks or are being given to some drivers in exchange for their Python trucks.
I like how this truck is diesel so that means no annoying loud whine which normally comes from the CNG ZRs. Looks like the yard isn't planning to go CNG anytime soon. The bad thing is that the ZR's hopper is kind of enclosed so you really can't see materials falling out of the carts. With the Pythons you can clearly see everything fall in which made things more fun. I also don't like the squeaking grabbers, it gets kind of annoying after a while. The driver flipped lids which was a plus! Turns out he used to run manual in my neighborhood before they switched to automated trucks. He also does some commercial work as well. Glad Republic went with Peterbilts for these trucks instead of ACX, it sure is a nice change. Can't believe this division has been getting so many ZRs that we are in the 1600s numbering now. Soon we'll be in the 1700s lol. Anyways, what do guys think about these trucks compared to the Pythons?
Big thank you goes out to Marcel for making this video possible! Thanks for watching and enjoy!!! Watch in HD! Also thanks for the 700+ plus subscribers everybody!

I remember pulling up to one of these when I was in Vegas back in May, and thinking to myself how much better this design looks compared to the ones in California with the flat tail gate. It makes the truck look much longer and heavier. You got some good shots in there and great camera quality. Always enjoy watching your videos of Republic out in the 702 👌🏻

Cool, yeah I like the bubble tailgate a lot better. My route driver now drives a ZR in my neighborhood. Thanks for the feedback and the kind words! Really appreciate it! I enjoy filming these trucks! Look out for more videos of these trucks next year as well as more Python uploads!

I've been waiting to see a video of one of these from you ever since I knew that Henderson received them. Great to see these on Diesel and not CNG, although I still find the CNG's my yard has entertaining. Some of the new ZR's have pretty fast arms. Great video!

Lol I'm glad you wanted these trucks, they are alright. Yup diesel sounds better than CNGs. I would agree they are pretty fast. Thank you!

Excellent video! I’m gonna miss those pythons once they’re phased out though. At least we have some pretty entertaining diesel 520’s!!

Thank you! Me too! I heard we will still have them until 2020, but I also heard a rumor about keeping them longer and just painting them blue.

Awesome!!! My Republic yard says that it’s to expensive to run CNG and Harder to fix the trucks when they break down plus also take forever to refuel.

Nice job! Sure neat to see something other than Pythons but I think I like the Pythons just a bit more. I was hoping you got some 32s in the video! Looks like the truck works well with them. Congrats on 700 subscribers too!!

Thanks Zack! Yeah, you'll probably see more of these from me in the future as I run into them more often or when my route drivers get a ZR assigned to them. Yeah I like the Pythons more. They're a lot faster and more nostalgic. I know a lot of drivers who will probably miss their Python lol. Yeah they're cool to watch on the tiny carts! Thanks again!

Nice action!! I looked on google maps and Cheyenne still has one Amrep sitting in the yard as of April this year. No guarantees though. They still have their manual trucks sitting there. I will say it’s sitting in the same parking space it was sitting at in March 2017 so, it could be in storage and/or awaiting a salvage.

Thanks! I think youre right. All of las vegas is automated now so it probably just sitting there untim they take it away

Potentially. However, I found a post on Facebook from 2018 that there’s still some manual collection around Summerlin but, that could be different now. Again, I don’t live here anymore. What are they doing with the teal McNeilus front loaders? Are they assigning those to a different category? They still have a lot of those left. A whole bunch!

@@GMTX-kg8ep If thats true than that truck is probably last resort spare for the remaining manual routes. They are probably using those teal fls on those routes then. They are using those teal fls for commerical recycling routes too!

TheNVTrashMan that makes sense. I saw that Amrep driving down Alta in Summerlin in 2016. You could give it a try if you wish to go get some Cheyenne action but, don’t take my word for it! The Facebook post I found was from August of this year by the way.

TheNVTrashMan I was in Vegas this past April(2018) and there were still a few manual areas. 😀

Like all the others say.... thank God these trucks are diesel. It’s pretty entertaining, yet I do get how the gripper squeak can be annoying, and how seeing material fall into the hopper is way more entertaining. So is your yard now going to 1 truck for each commodity, as it looks like in this video, or are they still running 1 truck per route with one load trash and the second recycle?

    • @TheNVTrashMan
      @TheNVTrashMan  5 лет назад

I agree with you. Henderson is still pure diesel, while Cheyenne is a mix of natural gas and diesel. All the CNG ZRs run in Vegas. Yes, they started that new route plan this past February. One truck does recycle and another trash. Thanks for commenting!

I believe they get paid $27-$29 per hour because they are union.
