Bro. Cannon was one of the nicest brothers in the Fraternity. Always willing to speak to you, no matter if you were a college brother or alumni. I was fortunate enough to visit him at his home.

My father pledged Gamma Kappa 1948, (Miles College) his history book had Morton as one of the seven jewels, I studied this book while I was on line in the seventies and quickly realized that a switch-a roo had occurred somewhere down the line. The books my line brothers were studying had K. Jones as a Jewel. This is the best story yet that explains the Jewel change. I met Brother Cannon @ a convention in Chicago.

How is it that the people who were there to found the organization don't know who the actual Founders are?

Founders are always subjective. I.e. is Alexander Hamilton a founder? Why not?

Founder and Jewel are not necessarily synonymous. Not everyone who was there were considered founders and did not contribute significantly or who did not stay involved so it was not as clear cut to say, "well, he was there in the beginning and that's that, while some still were subjected to initiation but contributed considerably to making foundational contributions.
