Given the difficulty of this boss on GM, they had no business adding health regeneration to his second phase...it ends up being a tedious fight with little fun.
Yeah been playing most of gm and its not fun. An easy fix would be disabling unblockable attacks on grandmaster. When there is more than one enemy spamming unblockables the game becomes no fun
As challenging as it was, it was immensely satisfying when I finally got it. The health regeneration certainly made it absurd but man was it a relief to finally beat him
Another tip I found out, if you're good at nailing parrys, Force Push/Pull does fairly significant damage to his stamina bar. So maybe throwing in a Force Push/Pull or two between his combos will open him up for a mid-combo stature break for pretty good damage. Man, I wish phase 2 didn't feel like an entirely different fight, cuz Rayvis rocks my shit in phase 2 every time!
Subbed, play all games on hardest difficulty. I refuse to lower it, it’s a better feeling once you do get it. It also makes you better for the rest of the game. I’ve been breezing through the mid game on this difficulty, so I love that I’m being challenged. Great detail and I love the slow down showing his move sets. It’s all about memorizing them and this saves me some time. I’m a 45 year old gamer and you got my sub, good work.
@@TheCrabbit Pretty much. I played a bit of Elden Ring but decided I’d rather play the whole dark souls trilogy first, and I feel like the Jedi games will help ease me into that.
His second phase was ridiculous to me. Was able to straight up BULLY him on his first phase. But man he jus gets so chaotic with his movements. Fun fact. You can “parry push” the red unblockable attacks, jus wait for the swings to come down and you’ll parry it everytime.
you can interrupt any of his attack chains with a force pull. get a couple swipes in and bounce out. save your slow time for when he fires missiles. hit it, then you can pull them one at a time out of the air and blast him with them. they'll all knock him down so you have plenty of time. easy, even on GM.
i was ok getting thru the first phase by myself w/o a guide, but that 2nd phase was a monster. thanks for breaking down his attacks. clutch for this gm run
A very easy way to crush him in phase 2 is to force pull him mid combo it stops him completely for a few seconds Not sure if you need the upgraded force pull but to be safe I’m just gonna assume you do.
@@kuki1384n grandmaster its a charged force ability such as push, pull,up, and down...to lazy to remember to actual names for the last two abilities but charging them on him will cancel his combo the problem is getting it charged before his uber speed swings that feel faster than my lightsaber can even be raised :( still don't understand why a maxed charged pistol shot doesn't have knockback on him but a charged force push works..even if the charged blaster bolt isn't damaging to him..it's still explosive😢😅
I tried a total of 2 hours to beat him on GM, thanks for the advice with the auto parry it really helps but I also recommend when he shoots all the blaster bolts at you, you can switch to double blade to deal massive damage to him. I was also double dodging his attacks but went to single dodging in second phase which decreases chances of getting hit. Very helpful guide.
I did this fight so many times I can now do the first part without getting hit. To then immediately die on the first combo he throws out on the second part
Found your guide on another guide and I love this one a lot more as a Dual wielding person in the game. I tried the cross guard at first as it helped me with the 2nd Dagan fight a lot but dual wield coming in clutch today. I went from using 5 Stims on the first phase to zero. So thanks! Took me a long time to beat him on Grand Master as well. But I loved the fight. This one wasn't cheap or artificially difficult like some other boss fights. I was having an issue when I was perfect parrying and dodging everything. I discovered that while parry is still great, it is pointless to perfect dodge. I just standard dodge his red attacks and get some attacks in with single saber stance. Some tips you didn't mention... you can dodge his missiles by air dashing to the side. You can also immediately start running towards him as soon as you see him start his missiles. If you weren't too far to begin with, you can then dodge out of the way before missiles land and it will often hit him. You can also dash towards the outer missiles and catch one with Force pull and chuck it back. This one is risky coz you won't always be safe from the other missiles. And if you have Howling push, you can just completely interrupt his missile attack before he gets them off. This strat is most useful for his second phase missile barrage.
I've found through my *very* extensive time beating Rayvis in phase 1 that blaster worked very well for me. I'd dodge strikes, and fire off a few shots as I close the distance and maybe get a swing ir two in. It was also useful when I was too far away to strike, for example when recovering health.
Took me so long, but I beat him on Grandmaster while having the precision perk equipped for an extra challenge. The parry window is further reduced, so it was a nightmare to whittle him down. But the satisfaction when you can parry his second phase attacks perfectly even with that perk equipped is something else.
I found the cross guard stance works the best. Since you have a very short window of time to dish out damage and stagger him, each heavy strike of the crossguard depletes his poise much better.
I agree. Better to dish out high damage strikes than a furry of minor damage ones. I used the single lightsaber and didn't manage, with the cross-guard I succeeded in my second attempt using that weapon.

@danjones4096 yeah so that's the spin move I talk about in the video! It's the move that made me recommend the two lightsabers for the force parry skill that accompanies them!! Basically just dodge his unblockable attack and just as he's winding up to start spinning, hold triangle or "y" to use force parry!! Hope this helps.
Bro I'm the same at the first part it was so hard that I literally looked up it and I'm the same way at the first part that you feel I kept dying over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and then I saw you I just put looked it up and then I saw you then I'm the same way as the first one man thank you for giving me advice I was I didn't even know what to do I thought you said dual the two lightsabers and then you just said that I was like oh yeah that's a great one
I absolutely loved this boss! Gave me a real challenge. I used blaster stance to chain point blanks, parries, and precision evades. If anyone is interested I’ll post the vid
currently at this fight in grand master, first fase is realtively easy, second fase wrecks my world, got close just once, tried for about 4 hours, tomorrow is the day
another thing you can do is charge blaster bolts and if you died you can get your life force and all that after you run out of ammo to refill, does tons of damage
Very interesting en helpful. In my case I used also the heavy saber throw to be more confortable. I use also an advantage to regenerate force during the fight.
it took me 30 minutes to figure the fight out, and 1 hour to beat Oggbo. Playing with Crossguard/Blaster combo is NOT a good idea against bosses, but it was so fun ! Honestly it was the hardest boss fight for me in GM, but yeah he was boring in Master difficulty, and became so entertaining by just putting the game on gm
I'm very late to the party. I just beat him on GM difficulty tonight. I did the opposite of close combat. I used the force regen perk and used lightsaber throws while blocking, hit and running, keeping my distance, and deflecting all his blasters, and avoiding rockets. Took a while, but it worked. Ever since I found the force regen perk, the mid-range combat has been my style.
I was getting through his 1st phase without taking a single hit after 2-3 tries, however on grandmaster his 2nd phase is the most ridiculous shit I have ever seen in a video game. He gets me everytime and nothing works for me, I can't get him even after 4 different tutorials and like 3 hours of trying.
He's definitely a frustrating boss that's for sure. Only way I beat him was by memorizing all of his attack patterns. I'm sure you'll beat him too, don't get discouraged!!!!
Ignore that 😝 Saw a skill called Focused Parry in the skill tree but that's just adding a spinning attack to it. Comes for free with the stance. Ok, I'll give it a go
Took me a whole hour but i was using lightsaber w/ blaster and the two lightsabers. The satisfaction on defeating him hit though lol. Had way too many close calls or moments where i had all 10 stims for the 2nd phase only to die without using a single stim lol
Doing this on GM is so hard. About 3 hours in. Best I’ve done is 2/3 of the way on phase 2. The way he does a back to back red attack keeps screwing me over. I try to dodge the second (spinning red attack) and he still hits me a lot of the time. Also having trouble staying in his face when he boost back constantly. I’ve been getting better at not loosing my stam so that I can keep blocking but that’s screwed me over as well. Any help would be much appreciated.
Be aggressive but alert is the best way in all honesty, I did a no damage attempt after a couple tries on new journey +. Dual wield stance staying up in his face and parrying each attack possible is the way to go. Either force parry his red follow up slam on the three piece combo or perfect dodge it and force parry the red spin follow up. On second phase don’t fear the moveset, be ready to block or parry at a moments notice and don’t try to get fancy on his red attacks this time around. On his four piece spinning attack you have to be rapid on the block button to guarantee consecutive parries and be patient for the fourth attack. Make sure you stay in his face in second phase, DO NOT give him the chance to launch the missiles and bombard you with blaster fire. And importantly on his slower back and forth four piece combo parry his first three swings and use dual wield force attack on his final attack unless his stamina can be broken with the fourth and final parry.
Come on man, I’m at 4/5 boss health second faze. The end is nearing bud. You can do it Nvm I’m literally crying right now I’ve been at this for 2 hours
I beat the boss finally on grand Master. If anyone is having trouble cool thing I learned when he extends the hammer out and he's twirling jump up and move away move in on the unblockable you can squeeze 3 hits in before spamming to dash back. Small attacks on the 3 hammer swing have 1 hits you can squeeze in between on the 5 swings count them his slow return also allows a few more hits this is really a timing and dodging boss good fighting
Death, it is death. No need to gamble, second form is death. I’m playing on grandmaster, and I must’ve died to his very first attack over seven times now.
@@benjaminstiles I feel ya, some of the boss battles in this game are pretty rough. They can string combos together out of nothing on whim so you get stagger locked with no chance to recover plus they only need to hit you a couple of times and it’s over. 😂 The game also throws really irritating cut scenes mid fight at interrupt momentum which can be lethal.
i finally beat him after two hours just now. i ended up using cross guard and it shaved him down like crazy. lots of parrying. the trance like state i had was like playing sekiro all over again 💀💀
To dodge in a direction, you simply have to hold your movement joystick in a specific direction while dodging. Regarding the ability: in the skill-tree you can see an option for "perfect dodge" which when executed perfectly will slow down time slightly. Hope this helps!!
@@TheCrabbit not quiet. Your dodge is more like a dash. I play on pc and I don't have a dash, he just "jumps" a bit, but not a dash. Also when I push pack and dodge it's also just a little jump backward and it doesn't dodge back as much as your dash.
Perks skill points in stance always way to make me feel like i suck. Cross guard stance this entire time i get to phase 2 with all 10 stims and then i just fold
I went through his first phase on grandmaster first try without take any damge at all. Then I thought why this fight was so easy.... well then his new Healthbar appeared and he took me down in like 5 Seconds.... Now I've been fighting him for 2 hours and have gotten nowhere in his second phase. I hope with these Tips i get him down.
I had more success in the first phase when I used the single saber, and spammed the poke move when you hold Y. It does a lot of damage and a full force bar can take out almost 1/4 of his health on JGM. Sometimes it staggers him too and you can get in an extra hit. Spam once, pick up force refill, spam again, he’s down to about half, then you just dodge and punish his combos until your force is back and repeat. I can consistently complete phase 1 without taking any damage this way. I do have the upgraded distance on the move. Still haven’t beaten the second phase yet, I get my ass whooped every time 😅
I beat him with the double sided lightsaber and the blaster stance I spent a whole day fighting him and then I switched to blaster and double sided and beat him immediately it was scary but satisfying
This didn't happen alot at first but then I went 3rd hardest difficulty the last 2 difficulty modes are for + mode don't see the point frustrating myself would rather get the story and most exploration things done first then focus on harder difficulty's rather pointless going all in lol. Edit: After watching this only thing I did different from yourself was to change stans to double to reflect his shots back at him
(SPOILERS) But how is this random mercenary or bounty hunter or whatever. Way tougher than Darth Vader!? Like seriously I just beat this game and died at least 70 times to this beast! Meanwhile I probably only died like 20 or 15 times to lord Vader. I mean he wasn't even that hard, his attacks are slow and easy to parry. And he leaves himself open a lot! The only reason I died so much was because of his instant kill force attack where he throws some garbage at you.
Before watch your video, I can easily pass phase1, just struggle on phase2, after I watch your video, I can’t even pass phase1 now, don’t know what went wrong
I’ve been on Jedi knight but I was so sick and tired of Rayvis I had to move to story mode and Rayvis got demolished. I don’t feel like I didn’t accomplish anything though. It was actually kinda funny how he died that easy. But I’m going to back to Jedi knight because storymode difficulty is not fun at all.
I cant even beat him. I tried and tired many times but still nothing. I can beat him in the first fight with no problem but the second fight is a big ass problem. As soon i get his health to half on the second fight. Then boom. Its over. I gotta do it again.
Depending on your fighting style staying at range may also be favorable. I’m a bit of a bitch with Star Wars and not very good with parry so I keep a safe distance and attack when I can. It worked at the 10th try 😅
That definitely can work!! I actually tried this myself with the double-bladed saber in order to re-direct his blaster bolts but unfortunately, it didn't work out great for me 😂
@@TheCrabbit yeah I used the double bladed and used his shots against him. I wish I could use the dual wield as effectively as you do but yeah I’m a bitch lol
I have no idea why people are saying he’s hard on GM (though I may just be goated), it only took me like 5 tries on GM and that was with only the single/double blade Parry timing is important, use precision dodges for unblockables and instead of dodging his rocket barrages just stand in the small spot where none hit
Words cannot describe how good it felt to beat him after trying for 5 hours on grand master

@@walkerantle8367 Glad I could help!
I absolutely loved this boss! Gave me a real challenge. I used blaster stance to chain point blanks, parries, and precision evades. If anyone is interested I’ll post the vid
currently at this fight in grand master, first fase is realtively easy, second fase wrecks my world, got close just once, tried for about 4 hours, tomorrow is the day
Update: ingot him, got really good at perfect parry
another thing you can do is charge blaster bolts and if you died you can get your life force and all that after you run out of ammo to refill, does tons of damage
Very interesting en helpful. In my case I used also the heavy saber throw to be more confortable.
I use also an advantage to regenerate force during the fight.
You can also interupt him when his shooting his blaster by using force pull on him
it took me 30 minutes to figure the fight out, and 1 hour to beat Oggbo.
Hey if you found your own path that's even better!!
Good stuff, literally my next mission. Ty
I think you forgot the forehand spin that hits twice, followed by a backhand at 8:00
This video helped me beat him finally thanks ❤❤❤❤
Happy it could help you out on your playthrough!
Holy shit dude did sooo good in the full fight he showed, n still almost died at the very last millameter of health for Ravis.
What Force Block ability? Dual Wield specific too, it sounds like
Ah, Focused Parry, found it
Can't use, only got 1 skill point and none of the dual wield unlocked
Ignore that 😝 Saw a skill called Focused Parry in the skill tree but that's just adding a spinning attack to it. Comes for free with the stance. Ok, I'll give it a go
Got him on my 2nd try with your strategy 😎
Took me a whole hour but i was using lightsaber w/ blaster and the two lightsabers. The satisfaction on defeating him hit though lol. Had way too many close calls or moments where i had all 10 stims for the 2nd phase only to die without using a single stim lol
What button do you dodge him and then attack him.
Finally kicked his ass! Thanks for the tips!
Nice!!
Prob explained it the best outta all the vids I saw lol
Thank you!!!
I find that on gm, the first round is quite easy , but the second round was hard af
Pretty much the same for me when I first fought him. I beat him so easily on his first form and then his second messed me up hard 😂
@@TheCrabbitI was like: wow, this is easy, then ended up chewing phase 2 for four weeks
I would basically nohit the first phase every time but it took me 2 hours to get his second fase (grandmaster)
This is rough on Jedi Master. I only have 3 stim packs. I thought I would travel out, but it doesn’t let you at the meditation point.
It's definitely the hardest boss in the game imo. But keep persevering!!
The Long Saber is the best for the first phase. It takes 4 uppercuts (upgraded heavy swings / Y attack) to get him to half health
He doesn't like being force pushed. He just stops, and you can get a couple of swings in.
No matter how ready i say i am. I am never ready, i actually think this is the boss that i will never beat
Don't give up!! Just keep trying and eventually I'm certain you'll beat him!!
Come on man, I’m at 4/5 boss health second faze. The end is nearing bud. You can do it
Nvm I’m literally crying right now I’ve been at this for 2 hours
I quit. Its story mode for now.
@@benjaminstiles I understand. I eventually lowered it from grand master to master and took him down first try i don't get why the rayvis is so strong
@@TheCrabbitme for four weeks until I happened to barely make it
I beat the boss finally on grand Master.
Hey awesome job!!! You must be happy to have finally beaten him!! I was exhausted after I did 😓
He’s pretty aggressive in the second form on Jedi Master. Seems high risk high reward strategy is best. What’s life without a gamble ;)
The game also throws really irritating cut scenes mid fight at interrupt momentum which can be lethal.
i finally beat him after two hours just now. i ended up using cross guard and it shaved him down like crazy. lots of parrying. the trance like state i had was like playing sekiro all over again 💀💀
Oh no... Anything but Sekiro 😂 Glad you were finally able to get through it!!
What's a force block?!
You use it with the dual sabers. Long hold triangle on PS and if you have enough force Cal will block incoming attacks
The fact that i had to look it up how to fight him makes me feel like shit lol
What is that sodge ability you use? And how do you doge backwards like that?
To dodge in a direction, you simply have to hold your movement joystick in a specific direction while dodging. Regarding the ability: in the skill-tree you can see an option for "perfect dodge" which when executed perfectly will slow down time slightly. Hope this helps!!
@@TheCrabbit not quiet. Your dodge is more like a dash. I play on pc and I don't have a dash, he just "jumps" a bit, but not a dash. Also when I push pack and dodge it's also just a little jump backward and it doesn't dodge back as much as your dash.
@RickSeri hmmm, I couldn't help you out with that since I play on PS5 so I wouldn't know the controls on PC or their equivalent unfortunately.
@@TheCrabbit ok, do you have a simple small jump as a dodge? If not I guess the dodge/dash is an ps exclusive feature 😂
@RickSeri Well to roll/dodge on PC, I just read on a Steam discussion board that by default the button is set to "Z".
I beat this on GM using double blade (not dual wield). For me, I liked being able to deflect all his bullets to take out a chunk of his healthy
Using cross guard and force pull helped me beat him quickly.
I definitely under-used force abilities in this fight 😂
Perks skill points in stance always way to make me feel like i suck. Cross guard stance this entire time i get to phase 2 with all 10 stims and then i just fold
@@PROWAFFLE don't give up! I lost to him more time than I care to remember until my brain had no other choice than to memorize his moves 😂
First play through just got the game last week....questioning my life decisions
Did it had to give myself a hr breather. Crossword worked way better for phase one for me. Had the force regen perk but ur way all day with phase 2
Cross guard Saber with purity perk. One shot each phase 😅
It's definitely an accomplishment!! This fight took me the longest in my first playthrough.
Beat him on JM long distance with blaster chance primary took couple trys but it was a fun fight
Definitely a memorable one!
This didn't happen alot at first but then I went 3rd hardest difficulty the last 2 difficulty modes are for + mode don't see the point frustrating myself would rather get the story and most exploration things done first then focus on harder difficulty's rather pointless going all in lol.
Edit: After watching this only thing I did different from yourself was to change stans to double to reflect his shots back at him
(SPOILERS)
But how is this random mercenary or bounty hunter or whatever.
😂
Like a boss!
No shame in that at all!! But I'd definitely recommend going back and doing the fight on the hardest difficulty just for the satisfaction 😂
Fuck I just got so hyped when I thought I won... Then you have to beat him a second time when you barely have stims LoL shit!
you can dodge while standing in place
I need to try
Help me get started
I cant even beat him. I tried and tired many times but still nothing. I can beat him in the first fight with no problem but the second fight is a big ass problem. As soon i get his health to half on the second fight. Then boom. Its over. I gotta do it again.
@@hendricks177 I definitely feel the struggle
@@TheCrabbit have you beat him?
Depending on your fighting style staying at range may also be favorable. I’m a bit of a bitch with Star Wars and not very good with parry so I keep a safe distance and attack when I can. It worked at the 10th try 😅
That definitely can work!! I actually tried this myself with the double-bladed saber in order to re-direct his blaster bolts but unfortunately, it didn't work out great for me 😂
@@TheCrabbit yeah I used the double bladed and used his shots against him. I wish I could use the dual wield as effectively as you do but yeah I’m a bitch lol
@@cyrileyo9114 Nahhhhh we just have different play styles 🤣
I have no idea why people are saying he’s hard on GM (though I may just be goated), it only took me like 5 tries on GM and that was with only the single/double blade
Parry timing is important, use precision dodges for unblockables and instead of dodging his rocket barrages just stand in the small spot where none hit
@Mr_Motivated420 Why did you watch a tutorial on how to defeat a boss if you already beat him so easily?
@@TheCrabbit cus I wanted to see the comments of people complaining about him, and also whether or not this guy was gonna give valid advice
