    Thank you for your videos! 40 year old indoor rink veteran here. I found my first Skate Park last summer and became quickly addicted. Every skill I take to the park today I learned from your tutorials. I gave a shoutout on Quad Squad for your design and development of the bont slide block and grind trucks. Today I tried my first P rail slide I had too much weight on my back skate. I ate it pretty hard, but if you're not falling you're not learning. Thanks again for your tutorials!

    This is very helpful. Do you have any insight on whether learning to box slide is easier or harder than rail sliding starting out?

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  3 года назад +1

      For me I found rail sliding easier as there is less risk of wheel bite but can be scarier to practice. Box slides you can normally catch yourself from falling/ slipping out.

    ahhh this is a great tutorial ! got slide blocks for christmas cwnt wait to finally use them...only one question though... do i need skate wax?? i know sometimes they help u move but i don’t want to slip off

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  3 года назад +2

      If you are new to slide blocks and rail sliding then I suggest you start without wax. Once you get comfortable and want more slide then you can look to add a little wax.

    Hi Shorty, thanks for this tutorial. When you jump on a rail are you really coming down hard on it? Or are you trying to land lightly? I feel like landing hard is stable but I’m not able to slide. Thanks!

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  2 года назад +2

      No you don't want to come down hard on it, it should actually me quite light with the touchdown. I found if I jump more with my upper body then I will land hard but if I focus on using the power in my legs to squat and lift my knee to land then it's a lot lighter.

    So you have your rail fairly waxed? I have a metal rail.

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  3 года назад

      For metal rails I do find I have to wax a bit. Also I don't use special wax just general candle wax as it's a lot cheaper.

    Hi Shorty :)
    Thanks for the tutorial! Unfortunatly i dont understand why but i cant slide with both feet , usually only one while the other gets stuck. Do u think i should wax the copyng?

    Is it normal to only be able to slide in one direction? I can slide left to right and absolutely not the other way

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  4 месяца назад

      Most skaters have a preferred way and only slide in one direction. But if you are looking for a challenge then being able to slide in both will help for more advanced tricks later on.

    What are slide blocks and can you do this trick without them? Please reply!!

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  3 года назад

      Slide blocks are a plastic blocks designed to help roller skates plates slide along rails. You can't slide without them because the rail will get stuck too much in the gap in your plate. And it can also damage your plate.

  • @taraworkman2269

    What’s the importance of waxing the rail first?

    • @ShortysSkateSeries
      @ShortysSkateSeries  3 года назад

      It allows you to slide more. If you are a beginner than I suggest learning without wax. But once you have confidence and want to slide faster and longer then wax will help. Especially when skating on metal coping, rails or box ledges.

    • @ShortysSkateSeries

      Yes you will need slide blocks to slide on coping and rails, otherwise you'll get stuck in the gap between your trucks.
