I want to point out that she did this in THREE MONTHS. Most hair hanging aerialists take years to be able to do this routine. She did it in THREE MONTHS with a VIOLIN. That wasn't just pain on her face, it was the determination to overcome fear and pain and to DO the thing she set out to do. As a chronic pain sufferer, i felt very connected to this because I get up every day and DO even though it hurts, even though i might feel like my body is on fire and I am weak. That determination in her eyes is *everything*. Maybe she can smile the next time she does the performance or maybe she never does it again. Doesn't matter, she set her mind to it and did it. And overcoming that pain and fear is the most beautiful part for me.
I just wish she DOESN'T do that again. I wanted to come and get her from that thing :( it's painful to watch such a good person suffering, even because of her choice. Maybe the same way the Apostoles saw Christ suffering on the Cross. Oh my do I understand them now.
If you've followed Lindsey's vlogs at all on what she had to go through to prepare for this, you likely ended this video as I did, with tears in your eyes. It's odd to feel so proud of someone you've never met but this girl... she's absolutely incredible.
It's rare to see an artist's determination so boldly presented. Often we only see the final product, practiced and refined until they could do it without much thought or expression. But this was different; you can see the struggle, the pain, the fear. And you can see the need to *do*.

I saw the behind the scenes of your training for this, I cried with you and seeing the final results makes me cry again knowing you never gave up to give your fans this beautiful moment. The dedication and perseverance shows.
UPDATE: This video STILL gives me goosebumps a month later!! I cried! Lindsey, I’ve followed your career for over 10 years! My sister introduced me to Elements, and I’ve been jaw dropped and hooked ever since. Your work is literally the pure definition of raw beauty, talent, and energy. Just pure art at its finest! After watching your hair hanging vlog, then this, I was literally in tears! So proud of you, yet insanely inspired to push through everything that is an obstacle in my life, because you may be closer than you know. I’m no longer LDS, but coming from someone who was also apart of the church, That CTR ring must have really made an impact! (If you had one) cuz girl, you definitely chose the right direction! It must have taken a long time to not only discover your niche but hone in on it and perfect it. I AM SO PROUD OF YOU LINDSEY!!! Just know you have a cheerleader on the other side of the internet!!!!!! I’m a forever fan ❤️
@@Twallrion I just discovered Lindsey, went back and watched her America’s got talent bit. Let’s face it, they were right back then, she did miss notes, she even said it herself. But she’s improved immensely since then, now they can’t say she’s not good enough... and what’s this “more talent than all the judges combined” of course she does, she had more talent then them back then too. The judges are there to judge not to talented.
NOT TO MENTION, BEST AND COMFORMIST VIOLENIST, TOTALLY BEAUTIFUL ❤️ INSIDE AND OUT, DEDICATED, FOCUSED, IN MY OPINION. ( AND I KNOW I'M NOT ALONE) WHEN I SAY ONE OF THE MOST DIVERSE, HARD WORKING. I HAVE A DIVERSE LOVE FOR ALMOST EVERY KIND OF MUSIC IN THE WORLD. BUT SOMETHING ABOUT THIS CHILD OF GOD 🕊️ HAS CAPTIVATED MY HEART ❤️, MIND, AND SOUL. RESTORED MY SPIRIT SOMEHOW THROUGH CHRIST. I GUESS HONESTLY. I WAS NEW TO THE LORD 🙏., ALONE BY CHOICE BECAUSE I HAD TO TOTALLY ISOLATE MYSELF 😭 BECAUSE I WAS AN ADDICT, FROM THE AGE 9 TIL 8 YEARS AGO. I WAS BEATEN SO BAD I HAD TO HAVE IMMEDIATE BRAIN SURGERY TO SAVE MY LIFE. EVEN THEN IT TOOK ANOTHER YEAR OF THE LORD'S GRACE AND ISOLATION TO SEE THINGS THAT I WASN'T CAPABLE OF SEEING, FEELING, OR ADMITTING TO MYSELF THAT I WAS EMOTIALLY, SPIRITUALLY, AND PHYSICALLY DEAD INSIDE. I'M STILL ALONE AND ALMOST HATED. FOR WANTING AND NEEDING TO CHANGE MY LIFE. I'M NOT GOING TO LIE, THIS WAS THE THE HARDEST, EMOTIALLY, SPIRITUALLY, PHYSICALLY, AND PAINFULLEST THING I'VE EVER BEEN THROUGH IN MY 53 YEARS OF LIFE. BUT 2 YEARS AND I'M SPIRITUALLY, EMOTIALLY, MENTALLY, WORKING ON PHYSICALLY THE MOST BOTH DEVASTATINGLY, BUT REWARDING 🙏 DECISIONS I EVER MADE. BUT IT CAN BE DONE IF YOUR WILLING AND WANTING IT DESPERATELY TO SACRIFICE THINGS YOU THOUGHT YOU WANTED, NEEDED, OR DEPENDED ON. That was ABSOLUTELY INSANE. My mouth literally dropped open when you started spinning, and while I am pretty sure you now qualify as an Avenger, I agree with the other Stirlingites, please don't put yourself through so much pain! We already love you tremendously, and there is NO ONE you need to prove that you can do impossible things to! God loves you even more than we do, and "with God all things are possible." We already believe this, now please be good to yourself! I know there are reasons that you must do things that only you and God understand, but it's still hard to see you suffer. Please understand, it's just because of how much we love you, and excuse our fussing. Have a blessed Christmas, Lindsey!
one can NOT inspire others from a lower position - all who push the limits know that is where life is, not in comfort ,, and the good in heart do this not selfishly but SELFLESSLY. thanks Lindsey
Insane ? No! Amazing, Awesome yes ! After seeing Crystallize from home, i watched your Hair Hanging Vlog I saw Pain, Smiles .. Fortitude i heard you saying « i can do this », i feel you fight against yourself for this and you did it. Like climbing the Everest, you came to the top. And now you can take your breathe and watch proudly your work Once more you show me, us, that the Queen of fairies' name is not Titania, it's Lindsey
I'm like why why why why!! This is insane I mean it looks hood but I'm like cringing cause I saw how painful it was for her. It's sad someone as talented as her needs to even up the anity like this for our entertainment. Or maybe she just wanted a challenge.
THIS is what merit, talent and determination look like people. Stop trying to take it away from those that have it, and do something with yourself rather then trying to bring standards and everyone else down to the lowest level. THIS is the height of achievement. Reach for it. Aspire and become better!!!
This looks gorgeous, yet incredibly painful. The things you put yourself through for entertainment are things we do not deserve. You are an absolute treasure and an icon.
I love that she chose to share the struggle of the process, not just fight through it to bring the audience something magical and move on. There's an art to stepping up and making something look effortless, but in this case, I'm glad she shared the journey instead
Said so elegantly. Cheers Stirling, Merry Christmas, And an absolute Happy New Year From my wife Kitty, our son A'koni, and myself, Blessings and good tidings of protection, love and peace.(my wife who loves you to death. Her and our son who was the youngest of the children attending. he was five at the time and it was my wifes birthday. At the time life was really hard and we along with all of the parents and children attending we're in St. Vincent de Puals Shelter for families and Veterans. We had been lucky to have been invited by this little girl and her dad that were facilitating the sneek peek at your rehearsal via a "party bus"She met you at your rehearsal at the fair in San Diego. I couldn't go because the party bus was full and they couldn't get my wheelchair because it wasnt wheelchair accessible. my wife was actually the only one that knew who you were other than the young girl and her father who had sponsored the party and meet with you. None of the other parents or children even knew what instrument you played let alone music. My wife said you even took a moment to take a photo while you were standing on stage and she was in the forground. Sadly, the children attending we're so mis behaved that the young girl and dad were furious and forgot about all the photos and my wife never got it. She cried for days. )
She could've quit when Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne told her how she was not good enough and sounded like rats being strangled but said no. She could've given up when she tried to get her music and talent seen and people would walk by and ignore her, she could've given up when labels rejected her because they found her too different, she could've given up her values to "make it" but she refused to back down. She could've also given up when she struggled with anorexia and depression and believed she was not good enough but she refused to let those voices rule her life! She could've given up when she injured her rib on Dancing With the Stars and was touring at the same time but she worked through it. She could've given up here when it hurt her head and it made her scared but she fought through this and gave an amazing and unique performance for Crystallize! I've been surprised and proud of her every time. Yes, she doesn't HAVE to do something but she will if she WANTS to. (And thankfully she had the support of professionals and people to help her with caring for her hair too)

@@slydog75 Ten years ago in fact. I think you can still find the video somewhere, i don't remember if the video also featured the judges Edit: found it! ruclips.net/video/M2xL7D5lPAk/видео.html
I feel very humbled now for how conformist and weak I am throughout my life while others, like you, go so far to bring out the most of themselves... of the gifts God gave them... Lindsey, thank you for inspiring me - making me feel small and realizing how much more there is in me that I let rust away day after day, when, in fact, I could choose to do otherwise. Thank you for the light you shine on us, so we won't forget what we all might be... are... capable of.
As humans, we see someone in pain and our natural instinct is to empathize and show compassion. On an innate level because pain is part of our senses, we condition ourselves to believe that all pain is bad. But what if the soul has the ability to grow tremendously through such pain, whether emotional or in this case physical pain? In my humble observation, Lindsey is showing us the mere resilience that lies within each of our own souls, which allows us to come out of the pain with the potential for massive, beautiful, and glorious transformation💖. What an amazing and beautiful thing to ponder! Lindsey has literally given us a gift by sharing this idea through a physical platform💜. Lessons learned: Our souls are truly resilient, just believe in yourself, and God/Source (or whatever you believe in) will take care of the rest. Much love to all and to you Lindsey, you truly are an Angel 💖
Pain is a state of mind, to block the responses and pull this off… nothing short of incredible. Would love for this version to be made available on streaming services. Such an amazing version.
This is an insane performance, never seen such a performance and don't want to see one from you again. I was feeling the pain by just sitting down and watching your performance. I can't even imagine what were you going through. Massive respect.
Oh my gosh! I got emotional watching this! When you took that breath i could hear you giving yourself a pep talk and then you totally knocked that last part of of the park! I'm so grateful you included the breathing.... It spoke so loudly on your tenacity and strength to do this!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Blown away. I'm so glad I watched the vlog before this too. The beauty, the pain, the perseverance. And what I've always liked about Crystallize as a melody are the somber moments into the upbeat and energetic stretches. This was a beautiful song to pair off with this. I hope this gets all the love and attention it deserves!
This performance CHANGED me. I think I watched it at least 4 times while I had "Home for the Holidays" available. Even now, when you play this and swing live in concert it moves me to tears. This song itself is so emotional for me and this performance just made it so much more incredible.
See the amount of training and pain it took to do this and finally seeing her fully raised up, I did start to cry. We are so proud of you Lindsey! This just shows how strong Lindsey is mentally and physically
Knowing how painful it must’ve have been to film this, the agonizing hours of training that led up to this moment and how beautifully executed that was brought tears to my eyes. What a work of art, and you gave it everything you had. Bravo. Your talent, your passion, and the will to keep going despite wanting to quit . You inspire me❤️
I had not seen this video before the Meet and Greet concert last month when you said how hard this was. When you paused and simply took a breath in the middle of the song, shows just how difficult and painful it truly was. No wonder you said never again!! Exquisite as always!
That's insane. What's even more insane is how much she must've trained to do this. **edit** I found her vlog about her training after I posted this comment, lol.
@@gsimon123 that's something she said she's wanted to do, one of the things she would not be able to do for a live performance. It's been in articles leading up to this. It has NOTHING to do with her dad and best friend dying and she's never said that. The only other thing she's said is she's not planning on doing this again and it's solely for this show
Amazing show and amazing 'remake' of Crystallize. But it shows how stressful it was for you to put so much trust into you hair, body and yourself that you can do it. So if this is too much for you don't do it again. We will love you either way, cause you are an amazing artist. And we don't want to see you in pain. Thank you Lindsey! Marry Christmas! And Happy New Year!
No pain, no gain, bro. Once you get to this point, there's no turning back. She accomplished something that tested her limits, which becomes at some point, a meditative practice. Most can't understand that, because they don't test themselves in such extreme ways. It's not about hurting herself anymore, it's about testing and pushing herself to showing how capable humans are. It doesn't matter what she does. She endured to show others can endure. She sacrificed and may continue to do so against anyone's wishes. So, it's not your place to tell her not to do it again, or anymore, because you saw her in pain. It's her choice and what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger and she's showing that in spades.
@@RedrumVideoProductns he did say if it was her choice. I believe he’s only trying to say we appreciate her work, but wouldn’t want her to do something outside her comfort if it wasn’t what she wanted. Huge leap of course, but we never saw Robin Williams planning to do what he did, we wouldn’t want any entertainer to put themselves in a bad place for the sake of our enjoyment.
@@Infamous_B_C But it is in her comfort zone... Otherwise she wouldn't have done this. It's not some publicity stunt. She's just being amazing and no one should have to even say they don't want her to do it. Too late... She already did. It's more negative to say this type of thing to someone than you think. She's didn't do it to self harm. It's not imolation or autoerotic asphyxiation, jeez... Making that comparison to suicide is moving the mark quite a bit... That's not fair at all.
@@RedrumVideoProductns your initial statement is an opinion(are you 100% sure of it), and the comment never said they didn’t want her to do it. It’s merely a comment of assurance to our respect for her.
I’m not comparing her performance to a scream for help or a leading to suicide; I’m comparing talented people who care to put on a good show for their audience.
I’ve been showing this to everyone I know. This is truly amazing! Lindsey is one of the most inspirational people to ever live. There is nothing she could not do!
While the performance is absolutely incredible, I truly hope you're not going to repeat it, Lindsey. You are amazing artist and all the hard work and passion you put into your art is insane, we appreciate all you do, but please don't go as far as pushing beyond your limits when you suffer so badly because of it :( We love you Lindsey, you are a real star and inspiration. Sending hugs and love, please take care and thank you for all you do ♥ Hope you are well
This was NOT enjoyable to watch, knowing how much she suffered training for it. Unfortunate for Lindsey .. maybe next time don't be so honest about what happened behind the scenes??
I said it everytime I watched the Christmas special and I'll say it again: this was definitely my favourite performance ever of Crystallize. Seeing how hard you worked for this and the fact we can see how focused you are when playing this just made me cry because this is so beautiful. Once again you have amazed me and inspired me to always be my best version. To me, this choreography gave Crystallize a whole new vibe, a whole new meaning, and it's beautiful.

What can Lindsey not do? I love how she doesn’t limit herself, and to think that she was told she was not good on America Got Talent. She never needed to go there, she can have her own show! Bravo Lindsey!!! You’ve done amazing!
I can't watch this masterpiece without crying... If you even don't cry in the video, the violin does... The pain, what you feel is hearable across the violin. You are amazing. 💖
I was tearing through the whole thing. This performance cannot leave one indifferent. It is like watching someone walk the rope and never breathing till they are safely on the ground again. This was ethereal, piercingly beautiful and so brave. Hat off for you, Lindsey.
I watched this first, THEN I watched your vlog about this process! When I watched this first I could see the concentration and determination on your face throughout the whole vid, and I thought "This is not her normal face, but she's STILL doing it!" Then I thought I have GOT to watch her vlog, and I have to say Lindsey, I am greatly encouraged! I started watching you since the beginning, including your first version of this song, and watching you grow and change and openly admitting that you rely on Him, is so wonderful! I was moved and I wanted to let you know, and I hope and pray that you will continue to rely on Him who came on Christmas day! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I just listened to Whitney Cummings podcast with Lindsey and she shared the story about this performance and i had to watch it right away. I think anyone that is familiar with her knows what she puts into her performances and this is just another level! You can see the authenticity of what she was experiencing in her eyes and expressions throughout tbe video. What an astounding performance!
Lindsey, I admire you so much. Don't even think about what people say about your choices. This is what YOU wanted to do. No matter the reason, no matter how hard it was, no matter the pain...It was YOUR decision and you DID IT. You made a beautiful and an amazing work. I hope you feel proud of yourself because that wasn't easy at all. I admire you, your courage and dedication 💓 Congratulations Lindsey!!

@@swimfectionist97 She suffered from anorexia - as someone who went through that too I am amazed that she managed to get her hair that strong. It usually just fell off with every brush stroke

That was my first thought too when they attached the rope to the hoop in her hair, and then she started flying around and all I could think was _owwwwwww_
Wow, wow wow........ just blown away watching you. I just can’t find the words that could describe me watching that performance. I feel so much emotion when I watch you. Thank you Lindsey for sharing your Devine talent with us. 💕💕💕 xx
I am frankly amazed and stunned. Think of the complexity of this. Twisting and turning and moving while playing while the hair is being used to support you (and there will be pain despite all the prep work she did). While I watched this performance varying of feelings appeared in me: I felt beauty, because of the beautifulness of the movements. I felt pain, because of seeing the suffering of the Human body. Good thing she never listened to him back then. She is so inspirational and unique!
Not saying anything bad about her skills. It is Lindsey Stirling after all... But to be fair. That specific performance on AGT did not sound very good. A violin is a precision instrument. So many factors to micro manage that dancing and playing live will never be 100% clean.
This video legit made me cry. This was clearly a personal goal, the dedication is beyond words. Lindsay, your performance in this video was flawless, be very proud of yourself! Lol but do something less torturing next time!

I can imagine doing that must of hurt, hair hanging like that, but beautiful music though, I’ve always been metal and rock only until about 8 months stumbled across Lindsey sterling and I gotta admit I really dig the violin music a lot more then I expected.
Yes! She is always so classy in spite of how gross and low class the entertainment industry is in so many ways. I love all her music and I can say that about almost no artist. Just amazing. For me, I always dreamed of blending classical music and hip hop music and lyrics and creating something classy and beautiful like Lindsey does with dance and the electronic violin but I never figured out how to do it. I have so much respect for those who can be classy and entertaining because the record labels won't let you so you have to create what isn't there like playing God but in a good way. She has earned all of her success and deserves whatever happiness comes her way. Merry Christmas everyone! :)

One of the greatest things about Lindsey Stirling is her ability to take criticisms as challenges.
She wasn't good enough for America's for talent 😂 she showed those judges she has more talent than all of them combined
After seeing Crystallize from home, i watched your Hair Hanging Vlog
I saw Pain, Smiles .. Fortitude
i heard you saying « i can do this », i feel you fight against yourself for this
and you did it. Like climbing the Everest, you came to the top.
And now you can take your breathe and watch proudly your work
Once more you show me, us, that the Queen of fairies' name is not Titania, it's Lindsey
I feel so bad for her because you can tell how much it hurts her but she makes it look so elegant and beautiful
That's exactly what I was thinking!
But why?
@@claudiaelena4600 But why, what?
Why ❓

It's only potentially hair tearing from your scalp. What's the big deal, right?

While I watched this performance varying of feelings appeared in me:
I felt beauty, because of the beautifulness of the movements.
I felt pain, because of seeing the suffering of the Human body.
I felt transcendence, because of seeing the transcendence of the pain.
Lindsey, you are amazing.
The Human body, is amazing.
The intangible thing beyond the Human body, is amazing.
We all, are amazing.
It's incredible what people can achieve if they persist and believe in what they are doing
Amazing as always
"You're not good enough" Eat this America got talent.
America who?
@@UCjNrKLyRJI-abFA8qiNo92Q is a TV show of talents
Nah she is America's got talent
She's really not very good. Maybe that's why she's making a show out of her gigs instead of playing good.
@@mantelmann13 She is good but she definitely listened to the advice given by Sharon Osbourne on the show which that she needed more than just her playing catchy violin EDM songs
I'm so glad I discovered Lindsey Stirling on RUclips. I love her videos - she's so talented. Her beauty, music, costumes, athleticism, dancing, and imagination are so pleasant and soothing to watch! I'm a follower now for sure!
I watched your "hair hanging vlog" a few days before you released this video. I felt way more connected to the amount of effort you put into this video. It is truly STUNNING! And seeing the results after all that work is inspiring, I commend your diligence and commitment to get past those barriers. Thank you.
I get chills EVERY time at the point where you take off the ground! I watched this at your first viewing of the show and I kept thinking "Why is she doing this to herself if it hurts and is not necessary?" Well, that moment says it all. It created an impactful moment that left me awestruck. So impressed by your endurance through this. Thank you Lindsey, for what you do for your fans.
hello how are you?
So this is what my crystal Christmas tree ornament has been up to at 3 A.M..
Lol
I am wondering if a comemerative ornament is in the works. I will buy it immediately.
😂😂
You mean like toy story when they talk about christmas decoration? Now thats canon on my head
😂
Girl, you. are. amazing. Deep breaths and continue to push forward against the blood, the sweat, the pain, the tears, and I swear you will ALWAYS rise.
That was incredible. The lengths she goes through for her art is astonishing. Well done.
#piersmorgan, eat your heart out lol!!! "You're not untalented, but you're not good enough, I don't think, to get away with flying through the air and trying to play the violin at the same time." - Piers Morgan, America's Got Talent.
Good thing she never listened to him back then. She is so inspirational and unique!
I wonder though how she would have turned out if he had not done that .
That's it! Next time she does it in a wind tunnel or off a plane with a parachute... :D
Not saying anything bad about her skills. It is Lindsey Stirling after all...
But to be fair. That specific performance on AGT did not sound very good.
A violin is a precision instrument. So many factors to micro manage that dancing and playing live will never be 100% clean.
😅 He’s never going to live that one down😂
This video legit made me cry. This was clearly a personal goal, the dedication is beyond words. Lindsay, your performance in this video was flawless, be very proud of yourself! Lol but do something less torturing next time!
this was sooo moving super amazing you will always be the best violinist this world has ever seen in my eyes and hope to see you perform live one day
!!!!!
Not gonna lie. I scrolled down to the comments and just listened to the song. After watching the prior video, just couldnt bring myself to watch this. But I'll give you the listen, because Crystallize is one of my absolute favorite songs of yours.
Merry Christmas Lindsey. And Happy Holidays to everyone watching/listening to this.
She deserves more credit and fame... There's a lot of "celebrities" whit no talent.
Greatness isn't the absence of pain, it's the determination to continue towards your goals despite the pain. This was a powerful performance made even more so by knowing the pain you went through to achieve it. You are an amazing person and an inspiration to so many. Thank you for this video, it's struck a cord with me.
This left me speechless. Absolute masterpiece performance all around how does this not have 10x more views.
WOW
Un capo
Hola
Buenas mi Luis ,por ella te conocí a ti 👌😎

Luis, quiero tu opinión al respecto de fan a fan.
No exaggeration; this is one of the most beautifully, heartbreakingly inspiring things I've ever seen. I'm just blown away.
As someone who plays violin as well (and recently got an injury from it), this looks insanely hard and painful, but so, so beautiful and I’m so proud of you Lindsey!
I find it so cool how much control she has while spinning in the air, just a small leg movement and it changes the speed
I'm crying. 😭
Your pain and your insecurities just couldn't beat your amazing spirit. You didn't give up, you encouraged yourself through the journey, and achieved an AMAZING result. ❤️
I'm still crying, just so SO proud of you. 😭
This is a masterpiece of self-confidence, inner strength and art. Chapeau, Lindsey.
I can imagine doing that must of hurt, hair hanging like that, but beautiful music though, I’ve always been metal and rock only until about 8 months stumbled across Lindsey sterling and I gotta admit I really dig the violin music a lot more then I expected.
Well from a music theory perspective metal is closer to classical then most other music it's just distorted.
i love my hip-hop/rap and i can definitely appreciate this talent too
Yes wonderful
I can’t believe how magical this is. and the choreography was perfect. I am
mesmerized. Phenomenon!!!😘
Man, that's epic!
Woooow it's soooo beautiful, I'm typing this while watching it and I have to say it's an astounding performance 😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Lindsey: "Hold my hair"
Well, Lindsay, I am truly captivated. I cannot shake the movement that you have please before my eyes I do not understand the extent of the gift God has given you.🎉
Hi Lindsey, I’m going to stop replying with my feelings toward your artistry, because I don’t understand the feedback that I am not receiving or receiving from following replies sorry I was really motivated.
