I got a Pocket Vision 34 Radio Shack, only has an external antenna. This video was super helpful and I’m really interested in making this small Tv work as a smart TV
You're welcome, it should work assuming your Pocket Vision is still functional.
Thanks for watching.
Tyler TV's work great. Not the greatest picture but very functional and useful for watching TV broadcasts in a small area. I have a 9" and it works excellent.
exactly what i needed, thank you
You are welcome 😃
Love watching you!
Thank you so much.💕
That was very interesting, thank you
Thanks for watching😃
Thanks!
You're Welcome and thank you.
Thank you for this.
You're welcome😆
😊
I don’t care what radio TV it is only thing I want to know would it work in the apocalypse Yes or No
It will work in the apocalypse perfectly. I'm sure streaming television will survive that just fine.😅
Will a Blue Ray DVD player with screencasting have wifi internet that will connect to a smart TV? I'm seriously having troubles with computer electronics. I don't understand most all of it. Old hunting dog is past learning new tricks but we still enjoy the hunt! Thank you for the videos, it's sinking in slowly for me, very slowly 😅
@@BillyWilliams-zp9uj Yes, As a matter of fact in my earlier video I used a streaming Blu-ray player to make TVs into smart TVs so that definitely will work. Thanks for watching.

I really might do this to my old GE portable radio tv
You Should.
I always wanted one of those GE portable radio TVs but never had one.
Thanks for watching.
Hello. Thanks for sharing this awesome video! I had a question about what is the name of the external antenna cord with the coaxial input for the portable tv? Thank you
The cable I used, for example @18:51 is just a regular coax but with an adapter on the end to convert to 3.5 mm plug.

@@WaybackRewind I concur.
@unitedstatesirie7431 thanks for watching.😃
@@WaybackRewind is the Tyler 9" inch battery powered TV better than the 7" inch model ?
@@unitedstatesirie7431 it depends on how you intend to use it. The 7inch is small enough I could mount it on a camera as use it as a monitor. The 9 inch is more for casual tv watching.
I really like mine and is very useful. I did a lot of comparisons before I picked this one.
Thanks for watching.
Glad to see I'm not the only one out here doing this lol
Old technology is fun isn't it? Thanks for watching. 😃
@@WaybackRewindthank you for making this video. RUclips videos like yours influence me to buy a compact portable battery powered TV for use in an emergency when the electricity power goes out off during the winter months where I live.
I can plug in my high quality digital house TV antenna for good signal reception 📺
There is no electricity needed for a TV antenna.
@@unitedstatesirie7431 exactly. So many don't realize free tv even exists or that these portable TVs can still be made to work. Thanks for watching.
@@WaybackRewind I do miss the amazing long range of the old VHF analog TV signal. I live in Washington State near the city of Seattle and I was able to receive clear TV signals from the country of Canada 📺
I grew up in upstate NY and watching Canadian TV was a regular thing.
Good video
Thank you for watching.😃
Thank you! Quick question please, the second small TV you used with the Roku you used a 3.5mm to coax adapter. If I plugged in an external flat antenna like a mohu, and then scanned the tv for channels would it pick up the over the air channels?
Well no, unfortunately you cannot plug an antenna directly into the second small TV, (or the third one either), and scan for channels because it cannot understand digital channels. I have a different video that shows how to connect an antenna to any TV but it requires a converter to make it work. ruclips.net/video/FSb67v6yU8A/видео.html
It's not difficult, but different.
Thanks for watching.
Ive got a bluetooth FM transmitter for my car. Maybe something like that exists for television frequenties? So it could be wirelessly transmitted?
A low power TV transmitter seems like it would work over short distances. I tried to see if it would work with the power I have available but it’s not enough. If demand existed certainly they would be available. But in 2009 everyone abandoned these TVs. Thanks for watching.
Man that’s cool
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Where do you get your older models of these tvs? I love these analogs, and I want to purchase one that's small. Like the handheld or the small one on the top left
I bought all the used ones off eBay. The biggest challenge is that most are untested so it's a gamble if they will work. Only 4 out if 10 worked and one of those was brand new so it was more like 3 of 9.
Thanks for watching.
cool!
Thanks for watching ❤️
You kids don't know how easy you got it. I had to connect to a BBS with a 2400 baud modem! If anyone picked up the phone in the kitchen, the modem would hang and I'd get disconnected and lose my place in MMUD.
My first modem was 300 baud. I dialed into the mainframe it was plenty fast enough because it was all text with zero graphics. My first computer class used punch cards. Oh we had it rough.
Thanks for watching.
I got everything to work except the sound. Picture comes through but nothing else. I have something similar to first TV except it didn't have HDMI only AV inouts. So I got the HDMI to AV cord. Any suggestions?
Check the cable you are using on your camera. There is no universal standard for TRS plugs, (tip, ring sleeve). Sony is different from most everyone else. So its possible you might have the wrong cable.
Thanks for watching.
My handheld turns on. All fuzzy and antenna so I can’t carry it around, no use for it.. I really DID Like it. It was a color TV.. Thanks for the info..
Be interesting to find out if it still works for real.
Thanks for watching
I went out bought all the stuff i need. It goes fuzzy. Was white screen at one point. Old tv like last one. Rf modulator only has channel 3 and 4. That problem?
Channel 3 and 4 only should not be a problem ordinarily. What I have found is that old tvs being analog the tuner may have driven outside the range that it's designed to tune in. Set it to channel 4 and then try 2 or 3 or maybe 5 or 6. You might get lucky. If not maybe the TV just not longer works at all. I wasn't sure my TV still worked. I know I had it repaired in the 80s but couldn't remember if it still worked back then. Thanks for watching.
I have a 1987 Panasonic portable tv. Would any of these methods work for it?
Absolutely yes, assuming the TV is still functional. Any TV can be connected to the internet. Thanks for watching.
the coby cd boombox tv is probably from the mid 2000's
I'm not sure as I bought it off eBay. Thoroughly disappointed it didn't work better. Most analog TVs don't work at this point, and it's not because of the transition to digital tv. They simply just don't work, period. Thanks for watching.
@@WaybackRewindthey could work via converter boxes
@@illkid86 half my TVs simply didn't work at all. Converter boxes won't help a broken TV. Thanks for watching.
@@WaybackRewind I have an attachment to portable tv that dates back to 1996 in fact I've bought like 10 portable tvs in the last 6 years digital and analog and I like the analog more
@@WaybackRewind an analog tv with a vcr was giving to me a few months ago I hooked it up to a converter box and I pretended it was the analog days lol
Help!! For the portable device to chromecast, can you write a list of all necessary components? I don’t want to miss anything :)
I’ll put a list in the description, thanks for watching.
@@WaybackRewind how to utilize Chromecast on an old GE tv?I just get the Chromecast begin page is all.Im trying to utilize Tablo downloadable app if I can get past the opening Chromecast page.

Thanks for the reminder, will add links to description.
And thanks for watching.
Links added for all the hardware.
I'm not sponsored by Amazon so not getting kickbacks, just posted for your convenience.
Thanks for watching.
Thank you!! Did you happen to try this with a Realistic Pocketvision 22?
@@lori1035 This will work with any television assuming the television is still functional.
The tuner on my Realistic Pocketvision 24 has drifted very badly to where the channels are off by about 30 channels from where they should be. And I get sound but barely a picture. Probably due to leaking capacitors that change value over time.
Assuming your Pocketvision 22 still works this will work.
Thanks.
Thank you! Subbed 👍
Is there any way possible for my old tv with only an external port to be able to turn into a smart tv?
Yes, ANY TV can be made into a smart TV, even if only has an external port. I show you different ways depending on the nature of that port but it can be done. If you have any specific questions just ask.
Thanks for watching.
Is there any way to convert these old portable tv's to digital capability?
Yes absolutely. You just need a digital converter that runs on battery power. I didn't exactly do that in this video but combine what I showed you here with what I did in the video below and it's done.

Is there any way that i can turn my old tv with only an external antenna into a smart tv?
Yes of course, it's method number three in the description. The RF modulator will send the signal to the antenna input. No Problem. If you have any specific problems let me know. Thanks for watching.
How many mAh does your power brick have ??
@11:40 has 25,000mAh. @17:52 has 26,800mAh

How to get over the air channels for a pocket or portable tv like Casio brands when camping or driving out of town??
I didnt show over the air channels per se, but if you do this method over the air channels are available via the internet with apps. Also in the video I did on free over the air TV those techniques will work on portable TVs if it was an antenna jack, (and most do) and the converter is battery powered, some are.
Perhaps I will show that in a follow up video but great question and thanks for watching.
@@WaybackRewind Welcome
Can’t you use a converter box maybe idk
And a power bank or power station
@@ElevatorWasher5000 I think possible if runs on battery or power off the vehicle but I’m not certain.Im just exploring different methods and scenarios.
I just got a Casio LCD color tv-980. We put batteries in it and screen and the moving line came on. I’m trying to talk my husband in getting it set up to get something on it.
It will work too if you follow my instructions. Good luck and thanks for watching.
Can the tyler 7inch amd 16 inch tv connect to a mobile phone i have a hacked Netflix app which i watch tv on my phone.
@space_star_one Yes, if your phone has an HDMI output then it's easy to display that on any TV with the methods I've shown here.
Thanks for watching.
What’s the background music, asking for a friend 😅
There are only two audio tracks in this video:
The Golden Present
Jesse Gallagher
(used throughout)
One Time
Jeremy Black
(only in the opening)
Congratulations, no one has ever asked this on any of my videos, you are the first.

Boi... That sure is a lot of cables...
could probably optimize it with shorter wires.
Thanks for watching.
You need to recap the Panasonic pop up. Your V sync caps are bad.
I wish I knew how to do that. Oh I can solder passably, but de-soldering and re-soldering 100s of caps without frying the surrounding components, probably not.
Thanks for watching.
@@WaybackRewinddo those tvs that are rolling have v-hold and h-hold, because if they do and work properly, adjusting them in the back should fix the picture like how it did in my case
I just went to power up the Panasonic pop-up and it spewed battery acid all over me and failed to light up. So it has bigger issues now. Afraid it needs a complete rebuild.
Thanks for watching.
