When it comes to tires, the Toyo Proxes name probably rings a bell. But how much do you actually know about the different types of Proxes designs? Our friends over at Toyo were awesome enough to send us four different tires from the Toyo Proxes line. Today Alex goes over each style, explains their differences, and helps narrow down which one is right for you.

Which tire from the Toyo Proxes line would you run?
bit.ly/2SbOYvz
I'm on RA1. Way too much tire for my car haha!
I have T1R’s on my 300zx because it’s the only tire that fits my stock wheels. But I live in Southern California, so it’s not really an issue. Great all year tire for my weather.
Considering on my W208 (CLK55 AMG) with 03+ SL55 wheels. Going with the new proxes sport or the Plus 4. Mainly because I'd like to drive it all year (plus 4) though snow or ice is maybe a 1 or 2 times a year thing. Mostly got down to 0 with wind chill. Either I'd think would do good and way better than the 13 year old pirelli P zero Rossos in 255/40R18 and 285/35R18 that are on it currently. (Rears are worn to a slick but I got the AMG wheels and tires for 100 bucks so I can't complain). Might wait on that sport review.
T1sport for rear and T1R for front
Toyo PXSP , Loveeeee it ,Egypt says Hi ;)
you are actually a very very good presenter
Bridgestone Turenza
I don’t think anyone has ever gone to a car meet and complimented someone’s tires. I went to a tire shop about a year ago and I picked the sexiest tires. They were way overpriced and nobody ever complimented me on my tires. So I spent $1200 on tires then sold the car with lots of meat left on those tires. Why isn’t someone selling tires with raised colored letters? Instead people are glueing cheap vinyl stickers to tires.
You don't buy tires for clout tho
It's that secret weapon that nobody knows about and nobody *needs* to know about
You've never been to the track have you? Everyone talks tires at the track.
Diego Tobar at the track yes but FI caters more to the jdm crowd who is more into looks. If we were focused on track we would only need to talk about micky Thompson’s. My point was just that in the gallery everyone has glues names on there tires yet the tire manufacturers haven’t realized they should sell tires with raised colored letters. It looks nice and I’m not sure it’s that hard to do for the manufacturer.
Not every one likes them tire stickers. Even though I got some on mine, yeah nah this doesn't need explaining lol
@@cptjockitch Well only the high budget teams run Mickeys or Hoosiers. Everyone else sticks to NT01s, R888s, RE-71s, RS-RRs, RS3s. But I totally see your point. Im sure there's a market for raised colored letters but I'm not sure if its a trend manufactures want to invest in.
I ran the Proxes Sports last year on my E90. 255/35/19 rears and they were grippy when needed and performed better when pushed👌
I actually run a set of the Toyo proxie all season on my genny. Their not bad and as he says, it’s not the tires fault that the nut behind the wheel wants to drive on a 1k set of wheels like they’re a 3k set of wheels.
That Subaru rust thing hurt me man, my Legacy is sitting in the garage right now with a holey quarter panel. Feelsbadman.
Could you guys talk about the best tires for a daily driver that won’t break the bank
I need this too. I'm guessing Continental is good. IDK. I'm not an expert. Help
If you want pretty good grip and excellent wet traction Conti pro contacts or Firehawk AS are great if you dont care that much about wet traction the best bang for buck grip per dollar are firehawk Indy 500s
Nitto neo gens are great bang for your buck
I had some falken all-seasons that were actually pretty deadly. I live in Alberta too, so they handled a pretty wide range of weather conditions. Still used winters in the winter though.

Pro Tip, if you run a square setup, rotate your tires every 3k-5k miles to make them last the potential mileage claim. Also make sure your tire pressure is correct for your vehicle and try to rebalance them at least once a year.

Vid of the day, let's see
*19 minutes*
My guy, let's see it tomorrow then 😂
No really I'm not supposed to be awake by the time FI yells dinners done cause 4🅰️m gangover there.
And don't forget that Nitto is Toyo's American division. I use Nitto Motivos and they're great so far. 60,000 mile warranty as well
Kinda like Firestone is Bridgestone's American division, right?
Wonder how Nitto's race tires compare to Toyo's.
I can definitely vouch for the 4 plus! It's rated for 50k, but I only got 40k out of my set.... After regularly hooning around, sliding, doing burnouts, driving spiritedly, doing more sliding. They really are a wonderful tire. Grippy when it's dry, and don't kill you when it's wet. Love them, and will continue to run them. I'm sure if I drove like a normal human they would well exceed the 50k. 2014 BRZ for reference.
Amazing video. Thanks for not doing the kissass style endorsed video and actually telling us the truth about the products.
That stock car joke 😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
After seeing the Toyo official web, I still wonder why the Sport is advertised to have the same level of performance compared to R1R, but with better comfort and tread life yet it's priced cheaper.
More of this please....
Please include all the ranges too.
For example finding 14 inch tires are hard (classic imports) and finding wide 15 inch tires is also a challenge.
From a guy with an mr2 on 15x8 wheels...
Again thanks
Yes my MR2 is also on 15x8 wheels. I stuck with the 595rsr but I'm about to pick up R1Rs
Rain is not a season. Any summer tire u get caught in the rain with as long as u have tire tread u should be good thats why they are there so water can escape. Car show and it rains should be good am just saying
Oh my God just take a half a pill.
the sport kinda looks like the Michelin PSS
I had the r1r's and used them year round. I was very impressed with their wet weather and snow handling. Not advisable but I felt way comfortable going 90 with about an inch and a half slush on the freeway. They cleared out the slush and wet and where you could tell the tire width of those ahead behind me it looked like i was running two foot wide tires. It just ate it up.
You crazy haha
🤔 Receded hairline !
Your cool in my book 😄👍🏼
Guys should do Hankook tires
So what to run in Florida it's 100 outside & the next minute you're in a downpour ran tr1 before but looking something to keep the hydroplaning down. size 15-16 for an 94 Integra what to run on stock size 77 coupe DeVille you got anything with white walls 225/75/15r
I'm the uk it's always raining... but we actually get summer that are hot. I'd go for the proxes sport or the continental sportcontact. If you can get them in your size in the us that is...
WE’RE STILL WAITING FOR THE FEDERAL TIRES VIDEO!!!
We have a little something something on the way! 🙌
Fitment Industries hurry up please tho I did just purchase some evolution st1 s
How do these compare to the r888r? A while ago Alex was trashing it saying the T1R would out do it. For Competition (Track only) whats the best choice in your opinion.
Alex@FitmentIndustries
I work in a tire shop where we do quite a lot of tires for track cars and at least in the opinion of the people ive spoken to the r888r is regarded as a much more track focused tyre. At the end of the day thats what its designed for but as mentioned in the video its very opinion based.

i don't even have a car but i watched the vid
I live in alabama hot weather average summer 77-100 with a a couple days during the week light showers and heavy rain in the winter 30-65 black ice and sometimes very light snow so what is the best for that kind of condition because i got tired for looking for a performance tire at the same time for all season not good for that hot temp and the summer tires not good for that cold temp ??!
How does stretched tires work? Every time I search it up, I see compilations of people blowing it up. . .
Check out some of these videos that we have done, They are super helpful! bit.ly/2Gt2RhT
Go to an HPDE, see who keeps passing you on track. Find their car in the paddock. Look at their tires. Ask around =)
2011 INFINITI M37 S, I'm down here in South Ga. mostly concerned with wet weather traction. Suggestions please........
I have gone from factory Dunlop 205/45/17, on new fiat 124 spider, to 245/40/17 proxes 4+. Like night and day!! Driving Saskatchewan to Oregon/Cali coast is silent and well manored. And tons of grip to become a 16 year old car theif, when you get to the right roads. Ie. #1, legett, to the coast. They are thumpy when cold till tire warms up. Other than that, perfect tire!
I used to have the Proxes 4 plus. I wore the living hell out of them. I’m at 15k miles. I beat them through canyon runs , aggressive driving , and just plain out dumb driving. When new they were really sticky. I’m getting the Proxes Sport installed as I found them for 110 !! I’ll update how they drive soon
Im deciding between the sport and 4 plus. I already have 4 plus and need to chnage em.
How do you like the sport???
how is the proxes 4 plus compare to the continental dws6?
I would be interested to see how the new sport compares to the Michelin PS4S or if it's still in it's own league.
R1R, yoko advans AD08r, Federal 595RSR or Nankang NS2R? what's your opinion on those?
Aside from possibly the R1Rs and federal 595 none of these tyres can really be compared as they serve quite different price points and purposes. Hope this helps
@@lowkey4026 I myself am on ad08r however all of the mentioned apart from Toyo are equally popular here amongst timeattack grassroots racers. in amateur level of course. Hence the question how do they stack up and which is the sweet spot if car is being tracked, but driven on roads as well. Overall performance an bang for buck.
Hope this clarifies initial inquiry
@@rrobis I see. Well ive been working in a tire shop for over a year now where we supply tires for quite a few customers who track theyre cars and by far the most popular are the R1R. I have little experience with each myself but that seems to be the preference for a lot of our customers. They will provide a higher treadwear rating than the advans too and are perfectly fine for daily driving. So in my unprofessional opinion the R1R will be the best bang for buck. Hope this helps :)
Can y’all sell cheap ditch finder tires on really cheap wheels and market them for doing burnouts and skids? I don’t wanna waste my proxes 4 and the craigslist sellers around here are hella sketchy
T1R or any Achilles (name speaks for itself), Landwind etc. or all season Nankang
We are working on finding a way to get really really cheap tires for you guys!
Excellent review. How do you say proxes then? That how I say it. 😎👍🔰
Please do a review on the Proxes Sport! I've been hearing lots of negative things about it and I just wish they weren't true, mainly because it's the only Max Performance Summer tire in 235/40/17, a popular size for ND Miatas. But since they're so new, I feel there aren't enough reviews out there to really come to a consensus on whether or not its a good tire.
Great suggestion! We just did a tire review the Proxes would be another great video to follow up with!
Achilles tires explained video please
Continental or Michelin tires next please!!!!
Toyo Tire’s the second one that you have there are great I have then in Acura TL 295 30 r19 back and 265 30 r19 front great tire good for 45 k miles in hard driving conditions in California happy with it 😎
Stay in school kids. Except jasper

Giant fan I watch or listen to your videos on my way to work drive from Rockford Illinois to Jefferson Wisconsin everyday looking at winter tires with high mile warranties what are you guys got or would suggest
Do y'all have any good all season Yokohama tires that will fit 205/55/R16 89T
Shoot us an email at wheels@fitmentindustries.com and we can help you with this!
My 2c: T1R is a nearly 20 year old tire design. A solid sport tyre that is often pretty affordable compared to most competitors. Also comes in a ridiculous amount of sizes. However there are usually better options available.
R1R has a reputation for being a relatively daily drivable trackday tyre. Is becoming less common now though.
Hey realy nice vidéo but im from Montréal! My rsx si on winter tiers :(
Needs new wheels Alex plz. Ahaha
When are we gonna get VIP build videos?
i have toyo proxes st III on my 2019 mazda cx-5 turbo. i love them to death.
Been looking into a sporty all season for my wrx as I live in Upstate NY, use Michelin xi3's for the winter and they're great but the stock tires suck when it get mildly cold, thinking about the proxes 4+, dws06, ps3+ and I think kumho has a good set that would work
I’m getting the Toyo extensa hp ii for my HR g35 sport today ! Does anyone have any feedback or reviews on these tires (yes Ik they’re not proxes)
LOL considering how old this video is and you legit say the car im planning on putting those R1R’s on. Spooky 👻 LOL
I wants some Toyo tires for my 1999 Mitsubishi eclipse GS why are these tires only for newer cars
What size are the tires?
Stay away from extenza a/s garbage tire. Like 600 treadwear but I blew them out in 35k miles in a economy car
Toyo T1R are absolute garbage!
Had them on a 250bhp car and they broke traction all the effing time!
Hi
Just purchased Toyo Proxes 4 Plus for my 2014 Mustang GT. I need a good 'high performance' tire that can cut through rain. These replaced my Mickey Thompsons. I now seem to have better traction in the rain than I used to have on dry roads. So far so good.
How's toyo with their warranty? I know Michelin black listed me in about 6 months after 4 replacement sets when I first got my hellcat. They had no idea how I could get 4 bad sets or be going through a set in a couple thousand miles... Didn't take them long to figure out...
Interesting story! We have not had any issues on our customer service side from what I have heard!
Toyo Proxes 4 Plus look a lot of like Cooper Evolution...comparison?
I'm more than pleased from T1R 215/40/17 with some moderate stretch on 7.5j wheels in front and driven at -5 camber. Walls are more than hard enough to keep the car steady and not ruin the tires, i was thinking they are runflat until i saw they aren't few months ago. They would have lasted probably 2 years before the need to switch them because of camber wear, but i had bad alignment lol and one almost shredded, but that's whole other story... My oh my.... the front of the car with coilovers camber and those babies was sticking to the road even in 170-180km/h speed cornering. I will buy new ones this year for sure!
look at the ABS 355 Rims and the rest of their lineup, quite a popular set of wheels here in sweden
My wife needed new tires on her car and I had a set of r1r's in my shed. So a little non turbo 2.0 Mazda 3 has some r1r's on it and boy does it grip.
Wich would look nice on a 2014 BMW 535i, I'm in California
If you buy tires based on how they look. Buy a buspass instead.
Serious question here; My Lupo is running on 17s with the V-shaped tirepattern (not my choice). I live in the Netherlands where it can be very wet, but also dry asf. The lupo is a very small and light car. I've got some pretty wide tires on there. Would this be something i should change?
Maybe possible some all season tires would be more ideal for you! Shoot us an email at wheels@fitmentindustries.com and we can help you get set up with some nice tires!
Curious on comparison of that new toyo vs the ps4s.
jokes on you my 2013 brz has no signs of rust...yet
1000th view on the dot 🤩💨
Literally on my 17 wrx just removed my whole exhaust but it took 2+ hours JUST on the turbo studs because rust
As a Subaru owner from Minnesota the rust comment hit a little close to home. You call it rust I call it a future. Less body panels, less weight, more speed!
I like your thinking! 😂
alex be throwin shit at miatas lmao
No way he loves his Miatas! 😂
Best daily driven tire? Best street and off-road tire?
Need some context. What are the conditions like where you will be driving.
Low Key street, highway and dirt road
Can you legally size up a tyre from 215 to a 225 on a 18x7 wheel, I know sizing up a side wall will cause speed sensor issue
Hello, Shoot us your question at wheels@fitmentindustries.com and we can help you!
i have the R888R's!
They have a new one out now. The TR1. Not to be confused with the old T1R
Subaru’s rust I would know 😂😂😭😭😭😭
LITERALLY THE VIDEO I WANT
Which would be best for a mustang in Florida
Could you guys talk about truhart suspension
the T1-R and R1R have a worse fuel efficiency rating than the R888R on the websites i've checked
is that true? because id think the street tire has a better efficiency than the Semi slick
The only Toyo i know is Toyo R888
Deers run over the road because we put them the signs.

Very informative video, good job FI.
Hey Alex!!! I know you guys made a video about WRX's, but can u dig in more how to widebody it properly and maintaining daily driving... Love your videos, seen literaly all of them...moving to Cali and would love to represent ur company with my STI...
2005 Mini Cooper s Proxes T1R 195/55/r16
@Toyo
Bring these to the US already!!!
195/40 R16 TOYO Proxes T1-R
Why do i have to ship this across the globe to get a set?
Everyone with 16" looking for some decent stretch on 8 -7" width, without having to run 165's knows what im sayin.
Can you do a review on the new Toyo TR1 (T1R replacement)? about to get a set for my 2001 VW Polo (6n2) 1.6 16v GTI - not sure in fact it was a US model or not? Anyway it's uses 195/45 R15 tyres not a size that common in use now. I very much do my "thing" as you described it! Car used on road/daily + 2 or 3 track days a year just tend to use whatever tyres don't change them. Had more modern cars recently (which tended to be 17/18" fitments so fairly big tyre choice used mostly Continental sport contact's or Uniroyal Rainsport's on them). The 6n2 Polo GTI quite sensitive to using anything too wide as well due to small wheel arch space so 6-6.5j fitment best option - quite fun being back in a old school GTI with the nippy agile 15" fitments! Oh yes live good old UK so many dry & wet conditions in one day...... completely hot dry days not often about 3 weeks in middle of year that's it......R1R be fantastic but may not get home from tracks without drama. Interestingly the old T1R never got the best reputation in UK due to poor wet weather ability on the limit yet sold in large quantities.
I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla XRS. OEM wheel is a 16x6 and oem tires are 195/55/R16. MY question is: CAN I RUN A 205/55/16 Toyo Extensa HP II??
Great vid! Plz do kumho 😎
Just put Toyo Extensa HP II's on my 2018 WRX! (I told it not to think about rust.. XD) If anyone is looking for a great all season that were reasonably priced.. and I'll be grabbing wheels and tires from you guys in the Spring!
I'm gonna look into those Toyo sport tires since they come in a 22" offering...yo, have you guys ever reviewed or talked about all the wheels that's on the wall? i see 2 that has my butter melting over here😅
What is ironic is I believe we have a video going up this week about Toyo tires!! 😂
@@FitmentIndustries but what about the wheels on the back wall?..
Bell gang wya
What about the r888, r888r and the rr?
I have the Toyo proxies 4 plus
So Fly and pretty how are they. I’m looking into them with my rsx-s in wanting a bit more grip but I need the all seasons and wet handling
Also have them, great in the summer, good in the rain, but this winter in the Midwest, they didn't do great, gonna pick up a snow set after this year. Honda gang aswell with my 07 si
The tires are good for daily driving. I wouldn't dog them in a quarter mile. But the side wall looks good for deep lip wheels and flat face wheels
Agree with the trash talk on the proxes 4+. They are the worse tires ive ever put on my cars. Grip is terrible and the rubber is extremely hard. They do last a long time though. Even when warmed up on dry pavement, they have horrible grip. We've put toyo open country's and they are great though
Please compare the new Proxis TR1 agains the old one. I am running the old ones *right tyre) on my NA supra but I am considering changeing to the new ones. I only hope that the new ones are less noisy. Please let me know and keep up the good content

R1r's are still produced in 2019?
