Modular storage, and being able to add more as you go is very attractive to me. The more I see creators use their 3D printers in such inspiring ways the more I want a 3D printer. One day, one day.
It's certainly a much easier thing to get in to now, printers these days generally work out of the box and don't need endless fiddling to get passable results. It's a very useful tool to have.
Do it, you won't regret it. It's like having a little helper in the workshop. You can give it a task and get on with something else while it's working away.
A thought on the dovetail fit, you could add a very small draft angle on the dovetails from back to front. This way there is some clearance for sliding them together, but when they do seat, they will be snug. Unlike if you just up the clearance overall on the dovetails. Nice idea for the holders. I am enjoying the series.
You've got a fancy new printer?!?! Does it live up to the hype? I quite fancy one myself, but can't quite justify the outlay at the moment. I keep entering competitions to try and win one though 😉
It's good, there's no doubt about that, it's accurate, reliable and fast. But it is still a 3D printer, so you don't escape all the issues, e.g. stringing, spaghetti etc. I should have waited until black Friday as I could have got it with the AMS for the same money.
Nice hammer action Olly, very measured, played the drums in your past?? Great solution, I have about 20 of those overloaded lin bins with inserts all not in original boxes (beggars can't be choosers lol). It's like a spot the difference competition every time I need to change a tip😁. I should be more organised!!!!!
It's an ongoing battle to keep the workshop organised, but as a fridge magnet I saw said "a creative mess is better than tidy idleness". As Rusty said above, a hammer fit is still a fit!
It's a good printer, reality is a little less polished than the hype. I've had prints fail for one reason or another, although usually because of dubious support structures or other design issues. It certainly doesn't mean you can print anything at the push of a button, but is far better overall than my old ender 5.

It was a good fit - certainly won't vibrate loose!
Good idea.
And a hammer fit is also a fit :)
It certainly won't fall apart!
Gday, this is a brilliant idea, hopefully my printer is good enough to make a nice job making some, cheers
Thanks Matty. Let me know how they turn out. 👍
Your original storage location is exactly like ours. Great solution to this problem
Thanks, glad you liked it.
On my need to do list...along with getting the printer..Lol

That's an interesting idea. I'll give it a go!

Hi Olly, what a great solution that is, well done!! Are the different colours different materiales?
All the best
Hi David. They are just two different colours of PLA, nothing fancy.

Nice storage solution Olly. I have to get off my butt and get a 3-D printer. I see you have a Bambu X1 Carbon. How do you like it?
Take care,
Steve.

@@ollysworkshop Thank you for the candid review Olly. Are you going to do a review on your channel and share your experiences with it?
@@Steve_R I certainly could do. I'd like to use it for a few more months to gather more experience.
