  • 2000 Toyota Corolla Remove Engine and Transmission Part 1
    The transmission on this good old car has developed a problem going in reverse. When shifting into reverse, you can feel the reverse engage and when on a level surface, the car will actually back up slowly. If the car is on an incline the transmission spins and slips in reverse.
    The easiest way to get to the transmission is to lift the engine and transmission out to get to the transmission.
    This is part 1 of the effort to get the car driving again. It's hard to pass inspection when the car will not back up.

    I’m only here to replace my engine not my transmission but so far studying your video I can say I can remove my engine with confidence now the hard part is to do the work while trying to work my work but it’s going to be worth it not paying someone to do it 😂

    Bad luck man. Hey sorry to hear reverse went out. My 2000 Corolla has had a weird issue with the trans for a while too. When ever It's in Drive and I start off it seems like it down shifts at about 10kph. I feel it happen evrey time. Do you think that the trans is slipping? I even changed the ATF to no change. It's really strange.

      I found this online. Erratic Shifting - If you’re dealing with a failed transmission solenoid, the gearbox can skip a gear up or down, shift back and forth between gears repeatedly, or get stuck in a gear and refuse to shift.

    I'm dealing with the same issue for my 98 Corolla. All told, about how how much did this cost you to replace. Excluding the cost of the replacement tranny as I already have one.

      It cost about $100 in new seals for the axles and transmission fluid. I also spent money on tools that I did not have.

    There is a way to pull just the motor instead of the motor and transmission

    Do you guys think it’s worth replacing the engine on a 2001 Corolla?

    • @averageguysgarage
      @averageguysgarage  4 года назад

      Sure. If the body and the mechanics of the Corolla are still good

    Why didn't u just take the transmission out instead of the whole engine, on second thought u don't have a lift.
