    hi haley! does the application specifically ask for the number of hours we’ve spent on clubs/leadership? bc i haven’t been doing that this far and i’m worried i wont have the exact number...

      You input each experience you did. For example, for PreDental club general member I knew I was a member for 4 years and did 1 hour bi-weekly meetings so I would total that up for each semester and that was my total.
      For leadership roles in the clubs I spent a lot more time on them and just realistically totaled that up for each time! Like 4-5 hours per week or whatever it was.

    I was a dental assistant but quit to focus on school to become a general dentist. I have over 3000 hours of working at an office, but Im worried that I won't do good in class. I had a 2.5 in high school, and so far in college I have a 3.9. I hope I am able to push myself to achieve my goal. I can't go to out of state school because Im a single mom and my living situation is complicated. Im also striving to do my bach in 3 years because I took 3 years off from graduating high school. Just trying to catch up on lost time.

    Should I get a job as a dental assistant or front desk?

    When you worked at the oral surgeons office, did you have to have any qualifications, like be a licensed dental assistant, or how did you get that job? Im trying to find ways to get a job/shadow at dental practices and I’m wondering how you got involved with those?

      My situation was right place right time. I was at my wisdom tooth consultation and they mentioned they need extra summer help when I told them I was pre-dental. Then we went back and forth over the phone to finalize the details. It was a great experience! I was not trained as an actual assistant. I did sterilization and broke down/prepped the rooms for appointments. I also had a lot of interaction with patients.

    So do volunteer/service hours carry over from when you were in high school? Or do they only accept hours from undergrad?

    • @HaleySchultz
      @HaleySchultz  3 года назад

      You will “start fresh” once in undergrad.

      @@HaleySchultz thank you! I’m hoping to apply at UM in the next couple years, and I find your videos and podcasts extremely helpful to get a good picture of the university and the layout of the courses! It would be interesting to see more of the halls and general area of the dental district of the facility! Best of wishes in your D2 year!!

    Hey Haley. I have gotten like 2 bad grades like a D and F , both of those are not pre requirement classes they are more like core classes like history. Do you think that would affect my application a lot?

    • @HaleySchultz

      It depends! Dental schools like to see improving trends. If these were very early in your college career and you’ve shown a lot of improvement and finish with a strong GPA.. you should still have a decent shot!
