You made it to OBX in the nick of time! The past few days we've had king tides along with a strong nor'easter. The result,, huge beach erosion, overwash breaches of the dunes,, flooded coastal roads,, mud for water,, floating debris,, and high winds!
@@ericakinley We had planned to leave Sunday morning but left a day early. Turns out that was a good call. Hwy 12 washed out up in Rodanthe, we would have been stuck on Hatteras.

What a beautiful sound that reel makes when you catch a nice size spanish mackerel! Good catch!!! Next time dip the fish in soy sauce mixed with a bit of wasabi, very tasty.

Hiya Beach Bum. Got a suggestion for you,next time you go to Cape Hatteras. You can travel all along the coast using their ferry service. A nice spot to go is Ockracoke Island,it's real nice there. But you can also take the Cedar Island ferry and go further south. Now what you want to see is Beaufort (pronounced Bo fort),and a little past that is Morehead City. If Carolina Princess is still there,that was one heckuva head boat,they go offshore bottom fishing,if you feel like checking that out. Lot of sights to see around Morehead. Tryon Palace comes to mind,hope the spelling is right,been awhile. Well anyway, glad you had a great time there,I always liked it down there. Oh yeah,Emerald Isle and Atlantic Beach is nice too.😁

Congratulations on 100k. Ive followed you a while and am glad you finally made it up here. I know you love the Gulf coast, but the OBX is something special. I grew up fishing w my dad at Cape Point ('im now 45) and cooking on the beach is how we do it. Great Channel and content.
Awesome adventure. Some of the best trips I’ve ever made is when I just loaded up the truck and took off without a plan and some deer steaks to cook over a wood fire. Good times

There’s really nothing quite like NC surf fishing. From the Banks down to my favorite spot on Fort Fisher, you roll up, bring what you need, stay as long as you can, and have one of the best days ever - every time. So glad you got to come out and enjoy the Tarheel State.
My favorite type of fishing in the Surf and the OB is on my "bucket List" along with Maryland Shore and the Chesaepeak which is like 4hrs from PA Where I live currently

I never keep fish that are not old enough spawn at least once unless the fish has no chance to live then if it is of keeper size I take it home if not I use them for bait, nice spanish you have to love being able to drive on the beach. Eating your catch within minutes of catching it is the freshest fish you will ever eat I worked on a headboat (party boat) out of Carteret County NC we always had fresh fish on the menu nothing better.
Great video. Texas also allows driving up to the beach and fishing or just enjoying the beach. I was not aware that Florida doesn't allow that till I visited. Congratulation on your 100K Milestone.
Matt we vacation on the OBX every year. The fishing is great once you figure it out. If you are ever there again check out kayaking the Oregon Inlet or the sound south of Avon. Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras are all great. Ramp 55 near the inlet also produces great catches. Tight lines.

Just got back from great island. Had a blast. 33 sea mullets,puppy drum,black drum, released a bunch of flounder, sheepshead. Lots of fun.
Weeding thru the baby pomps and black drum was work. The chopper blues also make a visit in April. Combat fishing at the Point at it's best

I watched virtually every video you have done. The OSB ones are the best.
Just got back from OBX. I picked a difficult weekend , noreaster with 30-40 mph winds. Current so strong 6 oz pyramid couldn't hold. Hard fishing.
Similar for us about a month ago. Rough times. Even sputniks wouldn’t hold and all the beaches were washed out. The weather out there is wild.

Matt awesome series. You need to come to Oak Island to do some pier fishing in May for some 2 to 3 lb blues on gotcha plugs and colt sniper jigs!
