Watch the live version 1977 Oakland coliseum auditorium version. Ignore the flag in the background it doesn't mean what you think it does & notice the people in the crowd how much better the 1970's were.
Done!
@@victoriapruitt1209 thats true..
I am totally jealous of you, Empress. Hearing Free Bird for the first time is magic. I thank you for letting me share your experience.
It is just like getting ducked the first time, just better, much better. Free Bird is basically the best music you can do with some guitars. It is epic because they were so good.
And now you understood why the call "Free Bird" in case of a band asking what they should play cannot be done :D
One of the greatest American songs ever.
Oh yeah
Murica!!
You mean overrated and not greatest? Nothing special. Just pulls at heart strings.
Skin Lab.....Are you so desperate for attention
@@skinlab4239 what? How much do you hate life? Feel sorry for ya already
It's impossible to call it a solo because it's three different guitarists swapping riffs, but it is one of the most amazing instrumental passage in all of rock music.
With all the energy the musicians put into the song, please include the 4th guitarist -- the bassist -- as he works his fingers off near the end. You must check out the live performance at Oakland Coliseum in July 1977. You'll be amazed at the size and enthusiasm of the crowd. Maybe react to that video, too?
Empress JJ, about one minute in: "This is really slow and soft"" Everyone watching: "Just hang on, dear!" Empress JJ: "OMG! I get it now!!!" Thanks for your great reaction! if you want to react to more Skynyrd try "Tuesday's Gone". Peace to you and continued success with your excellent channel!!
Your smile is intoxicating. Love that glimmer in your eyes when you hear music
Your smile is beautiful this music 🎶 is very beautiful
Lynyrd Skynyrd was opening for The Who, in St Louis, on November 28, 1973. We were running extremely late for the show and got to our seats when the crowd was screaming for LS to play an encore. Of course, the encore was Free Bird and it was the only song I was able to see performed live by the original band members. Then The Who can on and performed Quadrophenia in all its splendid entirety. All in All, it was a phenomenal night of music.
One of the greatest guitar solos of all time
That smile when the tempo picked up, before the big solo came in made the whole video worth while👍😍
They had 3 guitarists, not only one here. Great band and great song. Now when you hear people yell at a concert Free Bird, you know what they mean. :)
Did you see the clip where Steve vai was on stage with zakk wylde and Steve shouted out " what do you guys wanna hear?!" someone from the crowd shouted "freebird..... Backwards!" the place erupted laughing.
As someone who has been a huge Skynyrd fan for the past 45 years, I just love seeing someone experiencing their greatness for the first time. They are, in my opinion, the best American rock band ever. Your reaction was awesome! It was a joy to watch and listen to you. Made my day. Thanks!
❤❤❤
_Green Grass and High Tides_ another great southern rock masterpiece...
The Outlaws best song. Another start off slow with dueling guitars at the end southern rock classic is Highway Song by Blackfoot.
Don’t forget Can’t You See!
Absolutely Love your genuine enthusiasm and appreciation for the great music!!! Your Dancing was a bonus... Just seeing the Joy on your face was Awesome!!!
🤗
@@EMPRESSJOYJEAN ,Woman,You make me smile!!!
You got that thing Beautiful Woman!!!
This song was released in 1974, but the most famous version was recorded live in July of 1977. Unfortunately 3 months later, their chartered plane went down along with lead singer Ronnie Van Zant and lead guitarist Steve Gaines. Although the group was recreated 10 years later by Ronnie's brother, it never was the same.
July ‘76 was the live recording
The plane crash was Oct-20-77
I remember that day
@@mbf9690 they have a live version from July 2 1977 at the Oakland Coliseum, A Day on the Green. My favorite of those 2 although both are excellent.
Empress this made me smile so much. Heres the thing, everybody watching this, and I mean EVERYBODY knows this track; and and we are all just waiting to see your face at the point it transitions into upbeat Southern rock. And you didn’t disappoint. The range of faces you made describe a series of pictures of joy and amazement. Its a fabulous number loved by so many even after all these years (its early to mid 70s but somebody who knows better will correct me) - Certain tracks are famous for these changes/surprises call them what you will that take the reactor by pleasant surprise, and this is one of them. Great reaction, your face is an absolute picture.
If I may be so bold as to suggest you react to Deep Purples Child in time (Studio version ) you will experience something similar but even better (in my opinion) than Freebird, as good as Freebird obviously is. Treat us all and give it a go, you wont regret it.
Tempo picks up at the first chorus, she starts bobbing her head
Me: Just wait
Lol theres so many great old tracks like that, Hotel California, time, stairway to name just a few...
My exact response too.
This was one of the most iconic LIVE performances of all time.
"Freebird: Lynyrd Skynyrd at Oakland -1977. Absolutely fantastic.
Pronounce it Leonard Skinnard. Then listen to Tuesday's Gone, Simple Man, That Smell, On the hunt, Searching and Gimme back my bullets.
and best of all, "Call Me the Breeze"
Give me f two steps, sweet home alabama
@@sinboy26 that's 3 steps but whose counting.
@@harrycallahan686 lol your right was half sleep
That’s a band with three guitar players playing that… And I’ve been trying to play “air guitar “, to all three, since ‘74, or ‘75!
All rise for the southern national anthem.
Amen!
@@samson9535 In this instance the North and South are definitely on the same page!
Agreed. Also, The Outlaws Green Grass and High Tides is a very close 2nd...IMHO.
Hell Yeah
Southern of what?
They made so many great songs. Simple Man, Tuesday’s Gone, call Me The Breeze, Sweet Home Alabama and many more.
There are 3 guitarists playing together to make that sound
I remember the way I felt the first time I heard this song. It still gives me the same feeling every time. Like it’s the first time. Yeah, you’re a little rocker. Make a southern rock girl outta you yet! Keep rockin!!!
Hello, pretty lady. It's pronounced "Leonard Skinnard." Simple Man, Sweet Home Alabama, Gimme Three Steps, I Know A Little, The Ballad of Curtis Loew, Call Me The Breeze and What's Your Name are just a few of this amazing band's other great songs.
This young lady gives the best expression of Joy at a tempo change I've seen in a long, long time
Empress great reaction, you never fail.. Lynyrd Skynyrd (Len-erd Skin-ard).Free Bird is a Southern Rock Classic, one of the Best, most famous Rock songs ever...It's 3 guitars at the end of the song going at it back n forth ....Great Stuff... It's Southern Rock at it's Best....Seen them Live in Nassau Coliseum 1976 in NY....Free Bird best encore i ever seen....Lead singer Ronnie Van Zandt and Guitarist Steven Gaines and Steven Gaines Sister died in a Plane Crash in 1977....Loved watching Empress Rock Out to this Southern Rock Classic..Keep On Rockin Empress...
That is two guitarists playing the same thing at same time. One of best solos in rock.
love this reaction!!!! such an amazing song and tune
This was played in the funeral of my childhood friend, which died from self-inflicted overdose. It gives an already beautiful song so much depth, and tears always finds me when I listen to it.
Classy babe swaying to a classic tune!!! Love it❤️❤️❤️
I am over 60 I have seen them very young live my reaction was the same WOW !
Well, if you like guitar, you have found the band that delivers, with 3 lead guitarists. My personal LS favorites are "Call Me the Breeze" and "That Smell."
Yeah, just when you think they can't make it more intense, they step it up a notch, and then keep going... amazing song
Lynyrd Skynyrd=Legends of Rock N Roll. Such a talented bunch.
Awesome, timeless band and music! Loved watching you enjoy them so much! 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Absolutely love your reaction
She is so funny but I am happy for all of you who are enjoying this killer song for the first time this how we all felt when we first heard it.
In my youth, I toured Wisconsin and the surrounding states with a rock band. Our agent booked us in the roughest bars and clubs. We HAD to play Freebird, and play it good. If we didn't, we wouldn't make it out of there alive.
Thank you Joy-Jean!!!! Great reaction! You're the best! Oh and hey, that's me that requested it. :)
Free Bird is a VERY special song,,,,glad you like it. 👍👍👍😎
Their song,,,Call Me The Breeze,,,,will make you move even more,,,🔥🔥🔥👍
Simple man by them is amazing
The music tells the story! The slow part at the beginning is him regretting that he has to leave. As it speeds up, that's him leaving. When it's full speed, that's his feeling of freedom when he's gone. Musical genius'!!!!
the best part about everyone hearing this for the first time is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,they just enjoy it . that's what music is about .
I saw them live in 1977 their last concert, was blown away so many great songs I fill blessed to have been there.
Missed out on so much by not watching live version. I recommend 1977 Oakland Colusium version.
76 Knebworth better imo
BEST FIRST REACTION TO FREE BIRD I HAVE EVER SEEN.
That Switch though! That amazing smile exploded on your face!
Another great oldie and another great reaction by you Empress!!! You had the exact same reaction as most of us had back in 1973 when the song was released nobody could believe what they were hearing!!! Sadly three members of the band died in a plane crash and a couple other members died of other causes so the band that tours today only has two original members. You keep smiling Bright eyes and I look forward to hearing you next reaction good work
he one of the top guitar player in all time this free bird top songs in the world
You have been baptized in the holy waters of Free Bird. You are now a born-again Southern child. Someone get this woman a PBR.
This has to be one of the best reactions to this song. I've seen so many say it's too long but she just went with it and enjoyed it how it's meant to be. Great work
One of the greatest bands ever, you should check out sweet home Alabama, Tuesdays gone and simple man aswell. I love your channel ❤️
God bless you gorgeous. Thank you for dancing with me for a little while. May your channel grow, and grow, and grow!
You saw it through. Most people can't take it all and fold halfway. Well done!
Empress dancing like me cleaning the house! I love it. ✌🏽
Coolest song ever
best guitar sounds
.. amazing vocals
Sick drumming.
All in sync, tempo change takes one for one unique ride. Thanks for reacting, and was fun watching you experience it. Such energy
If you liked the guitar on this one & the guitar trip of Hotel California, you'd love Chicago's "25 or 6 To 4"
Yes, Empress! It's here: ruclips.net/video/iUAYeN3Rp2E/видео.html
Chicago- liberation
I am blessed to have heard them in concert in '75 or '76 and it was a helluva experience.
Your beauty and smile are infectious. I love your reactions 🤣 😂 ❤ ♥ 💕 😍
😁😍🙌
Every time I hear this song, I think of one of the most dramatic scenes from the movie Forrest Gump.
The scene where Jenny (Forrest's best friend) is about to commit the irremediable.
Waaaait for it...hahaaaa...
LOVE this GORGEOUS girl's reaction to the Jam Transition.
I'm from Georgia. Caught Skynyrd and Freebird live in Atlanta.
Man...when it kicks in....and those speakers are actually crackin' your bones with that shred....
Nothing. Like. It.
Rock On Ms. Empress....🤘
I can listen to this song on replay forever ..... LEGENDS!
❤❤❤
Watching your reactions is like watching someone experience sound for the first 🤣
No other rock song will ever make you smile & dance more than thisun'. Loved seeing you experience this incredible song for the first time. Love & respect from the USA
Love watching your reactions, you listen with your heart. Thank you for your channel and being like many of us feel when we listen..... vulnerable!
Best to you Joy-Jean
So happy you found Skynyrd.
I need you by lynyrd skynyrd is the greatest love song of all time.. please please treat yourself to that masterpiece
Man, this came out when I was in high school. But for me, it’s my song for doing my exercise bike. I crank it way up.
Skynyrd is simply one of the best! It’s fun to see someone experiencing this for the first time. They were about 21 years old when this album came out. The singer, Ronnie was a couple years older. The band just played their first concert Friday and Saturday night, since the pandemic.
This is an great song that every band had to learn how to play in the 70s Because people would yell and chant free bird until they played it! For years After it was released.
I loved your reaction to it! So the next time you see a live band start yelling out Free Bird 🤭
Its lost its meaning a bit sad to say, I shouted it at a Bloc Party gig a few years ago and got 99% blank stares and a few knowing smiles that made it worth it lol
one of the greatest guitar songs ever :)
Thanks for the Skynyrd break, got my American Tour Shirt on...Was an Awesome Group!
you have to watch them live...., they were great entertainers!
I don't mind when she pause's during solos bc she knows exactly I mean EXACTLY where to stop just to keep that rhythm fresh
I love your reactions. I can’t sit still when I watch your videos
Empress , this was three star quality lead guitar players working together . The nice slow slide guitar Was Gary Rossington , the other two were Allen Collins , and Steve Gaines . Each of them would have been a star on their own . Together they were unbelieveable .
PS , The lead singer , Ronnie VanZant wrote the lyrics in high school .
It's always such a pleasure seeing someone hear this for the first time. Great reaction by a pretty girl :)
Your reactions are priceless!
Just an epic song I’m my top 10 all times for me in the car 🥰👌👌
Enjoying your reaction to a beautiful song.
Empress, love the reaction. The name is pronounced “ Leonard Skinard”❤️
Yes you went all in on free bird! xx
Great southern rock band! I saw them front row center!
Loved your reaction
You are a lot of fun, seriously, how sweet you are.
I loved you loving it !!! Brilliant !
Love how you say melodious. Beautiful
The anthem of southern rock, three guitar battle as it's best 🎸🎸🎸💯👏🎶🤘
And a bass
Love your expression, your so funny and a bit crazy in the good way !
Of all the rock songs ever created, this is the only song to end a concert with. Pretty sure most bands past and present agree.
Ms. E., Too many songs to mention; but here goes 3, "Tuesday's Gone" a great ballad, "Sweet Home Alabama"
& "They Call Me The Breeze" one of the best driving songs ever.. ♠W.G.
love your reactions :)
Incredible tune ..some of the best guitar work in the biz ..enjoy ❤️🎸🎸
