    That line via Sunderland is one of many lines that people crossing the country don't ever get to see.
    For those who don't have the privelege of getting such a unique view from the cab, my experience as a passenger is - "to compensate for this, get out at one or two places along the line, and explore a little",
    "See and experience the local communities".

    Really enjoyed this I’ve watched it a few times now. I grew up on the east coast of Durham and travelled on this line a lot. Now live in Canada so it’s great to watch the video especially with the chatty commentary from the train driver. Thanks Dylan 👍

    It would be great to see more videos from the driver's seat of older trains like the HST, 225, Class 90 and such like, and from the maintenance crews that keep them running.
    In a similar way to car reviews, it would be awesome for railway enthusiasts to see locomotives , multiple units and coaches up close and personal.

    The Class 800 Azuma can go anywhere because they are Bi-Mode whilst the Class 801 Azuma are electric and can only operate on the electrified routes on the East Coast Main Line. Amazing video LNER.

    This channel is quite unique (and I've watched other cabview videos in the past).
    I wonder if it's possible for the gentleman to eventually cover many intersting lines.
    I suppose he would need the cooperation of other drivers from other regions that he himself doesn't operate.
    But it's worth a thought.

    Shame weather was so poor and couldn't see the coastline sitting in amazing sunshine.

    Am I right in saying that the electrification around Sunderland etc isn’t compatible with the Azumas and so you’d use diesel?

    • @LondonNorthEasternRailway
      @LondonNorthEasternRailway  6 месяцев назад +1

      We do use diesel to travel to Sunderland! The East Coast Main Line is electrified with 25kV AC, while the line through Sunderland is electrified for the Tyne & Wear Metro with 1.5kV DC. ^AB

    • @peterwren8177
      @peterwren8177 2 года назад +3

      Only platform one is used (since late 1990s?) ; line is bi-directionally signalled for this. I don't know whether the southbound track is unusable, not signalled or just not used. Needs a new footbridge + lifts for Platform 2 to come back into service, would make a difference to capacity on Durham coast

      @@peterwren8177 The 2nd (out of use) through platform is currently for freight only, though in 2022 the money was received to re-instate the platform for passengers, June 2023 is the scheduled completion date for re-openeing! Whether is happens that quick is anyone's guess!
