- It’s time for another episode of In the Driver’s Seat! We’re kicking off a new series with Alan, taking us from Glasgow Central to Edinburgh. Hop on board and let’s go! 🚆
Could you do a full length
Great video, really appreciated the knowledgeable commentary. Minor complaint: music infill is way too loud!
Very enjoyable. Thank you for posting it.👍
That was awesome !!! Thank you for sharing it with us...😀😀😀
What a superb video, thanks very much!
Brilliant video very interesting and informative 👍
I loved the end where it looked like it overtook the parked ScotRail!
Very interesting video, enjoyed every moment of it
Thank you! That was fun! My brother in law is from Scotland. I'm enjoying watching videos from there. 😊
Well done piece!
Nice video really enjoyable. Hopefully there is another one of those styles of videos coming out soon.
Brilliant video. Spent many a night working on the the tracks between Carstairs and Cobbinshaw Reservoir 😎
Excellent thanks for sharing
What a route to drive on a daily basis! Amazing.
An interesting format. Nice and clear. I'm used to being able to look out the side windows though. Ex freight conductor for Canadian Pacific RR. My great grandfather was a clock maker and had a shop in Dalkeith. The building is still there.
The gentleman knows the line so well that he knows when to speed the video up and slow it down., in order to comment about the important features.
So, he can fit the whole line into a fairly short space of time.
Thank you for adding that 'lil Bit extra Commentry!
great run
Very interesting and great Video ! 👍 Many Greets from Germany !
Thank you very much!
Enjoyed the video and the scenic views. I'm surprised the route taken is still used. It would be a lot more sensible to take avoid Motherwell and head over vua Bellshill, Shotts and Livingston, especially since that line was recently electrified.
Is there any plans to do the tnye valley diversion via Carlisle to Edinburgh
Excellent
Great video I do love trains but the Azuma is definitely my favourite.
It vibrates abit
I agree you should do the full length
Great video, but you can see the train arrival at Edinburgh was either shot on different days or at different times or both as at 09:40 the train is seen arriving via platform 19, yet at 09:48 the cab video shows the train arriving via platform 20 and then crossing to platform 2..
Ha! Ha! You see, there are train spotters detectives out there checking on you.!!
Love your accent!!
Good watch
9:43 when gulls attack!
Is it a new route that u can take between Glasgow and Edinburgh via lner
Surely missed a chance to mention the South Edinburgh line that used to act as a commuter route. The west junction is just after Slateford and is served by 1 xc train each weekday doing g GLC-EDB
Great to see Polmadie from the air at 1:30.
WOW! These LNER trains accelerate like formula 1 cars! (It's a joke. Don't comment!) I too would have liked more normal speed bits. The aerial views are very good.
Will LNER go from Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh Waverley and London Kings Cross. Via Falkirk High.
bit of a roundabout route from Glasgow to Edinburgh, but great vid.
LNER We Need More Services From You Going from Glasgow Central to London Kings X Because we Have None at the Moment.
What service was or is it going to be
when can we have more of this please
Sweet
Music much too loud in comparison to voice. Also why the rush? The video could have been slower. At 20 minutes long viewers might have had time to see the things that are mentioned.
Cool
Very interesting video which wasn’t completely ruined by the awful backing music but it was a close run thing.
It would be nice if LNER served Glasgow more often now that CrossCountry seem to have all but abandoned it.
Be nice if it had the same frequency as Aberdeen (4 trains per day)
no need, scotrail handle the majority of the express E-G services
@@Trainman10715Of which the OVERWHELMINGLY VAST majority goes to QS, not Central
@@Danse_Macabre_125 not like that matters mate, they're a 7 minute walk apart
@Trainman10715 true, but the SR services are still considerably slower as they call at a lot more places
I didn't know the LNER still ran trains to Central .
I hope to be up front driving Azumas and 91s when I finish school!
That's a great ambition and we need more train drivers who won't strike every 5 minutes over a minor inconvenience.
I would pay to drive them. Or for free so yeah. It’s my passion so I am good for the job. I’d only Be off it’s to do with shift limits or something with a good reason.
Don't think you'll be driving 91s for LNER, they're getting withdrawn, they'll be gone by the end of this year
Sound of music too loud compared with the commentary.
Do you not have a volume button like any normal person has FFS ?
Is it going to be a full length or snippets
It'll be similar to our other In the Driver's Seat videos - around 10 minutes in length.
@@LondonNorthEasternRailway I suppose it has to be short to keep the cost down. But as I do not edit videos for a living I may be out of my depth but surely full length, cab view with captions should be cheaper than all the drone footage. But as always the social media team win over the engineers and the like in these type of videos.
Why don’t you stop at Carstairs?
I lived in Kirknewton once and it was nice to see the trains and level crossing, sadly though too many stories of silly people who crossing the line when the train wasnt far away....
Thankfully, you can't do that as easily now. There are full length barriers that come down well in advance of oncoming trains, and plenty of CCTV. cameras.
@@4183dougs Thats good to know.It was a hotspot for years👍
Is this a regular service for a Azuma from Glasgow
LNER services arrive at Glasgow Central, the busiest train station in Scotland. Inter-city trains connect you hourly to Edinburgh and onwards along the east coast mainline to Newcastle, York and London. Trains to Inverness, Stirling and Aberdeen are available at Edinburgh Waverley station. Visit our website for more information www.lner.co.uk/our-destinations/popular-destinations/trains-to-glasgow/
That’s possible?
Im surprised there isnt a more direct route that doesnt involve going through Carstairs.
There is the alternative line via Falkirk but that’s from Glasgow Queen Street
@@JangoFett220 ahhhh, that’s the one I was trying to think of.
There’s a route that goes through shotts and bellshill that might be quicker but i’m not sure
No such thing as the Forth Rail Bridge. It’s The Forth Bridge.
In my road atlas it says forth railway bridge the other is the forth road bridge
@@davidgarside8229 sadly that doesn’t make it right. No harm. Common thing.
Nice video made better with a commentary but why no mention of Carstairs Hospital on the left? It’s probably the biggest set of buildings on the route but just ignored 🤔
Do liner trains even operate in glasgow
LNER no longer stop at Glasgow, we did until December 2024.
@@LondonNorthEasternRailway ok no problem
Cool music 🎶 send me name
We want to see locomotives
Nice images, but what’s with the really intrusive “background “ music? Appalling.
Great video but maybe do them in real time even though that would make some over an hour or 2 hours
Get more
I agree with Anthony Gordon: the music is much too loud, or your voice is too low. Otherwise a great video.
Swap you a 65G 318 Alan.
The east coast mainline slaps better
I thought you were all on strike . Get your act together and get back to work .
Excellent but please drop the dreadful music
Great except for the awful music.
Very poor audio, background track too loud, commentator too quiet
Irritating music
Mute the music so you don’t have to listen to it
@@AndrewG1989 then you miss the commentary! Didn't hear music from half way till the end as switched off! So every one wins but thanks for you suggestion.
Thought so
I much prefer the old music
Hard to understand you with dreadful soundtrack ruins video please delete.
Get back to work.
This is literally our job.
Get back to work? 😆😆
That's literally what he's doing in the video, what are you on about 😆😆
@@Greggs30806 Maybe you missed the lazy bastards out on strike.
