Great video and very clear instructions that will help anyone with this type of problem! If I was to add anything, please be extremely careful laying your tv down as to make sure there is nothing that could possibly crack the screen. I had a friend who bought a Samsung flatscreen TV about 6 years ago and he layed it down on top of a screw. He heard a crack and the brand new tv had a cracked screen from being laid down on the scew. Fortunately for him, he called Samsung customer service and they replaced the tv for free on behalf of his mistake.

Using your video, I was able to take apart my TV, order the correct part off of dBay, replace the IR sensor, and put it back together. It worked!! Yahoo! I was so proud of myself. Until a day later when it quit working again. 😞 Any suggestions on what might be going on?

Hi Michael. Thanks for the video. I have one hisense H55NEC5205 and one Hisense H55N5705 in the same room. Unfrotunately they both react to the same remote. So not finding any good solution, I thought, if it might be possbile to change the IR Sensor with that one of a different model to use with a different remote. Would you know of a compatible IR sensor for my QN65Q80B Samsung TV. I can not find anything that is specific for this tv. Late I know but my sensor light is red and on, my remote is working but can't turn the tv on. My Apple TV remote turns my Samsung on but that's through the hdmi. A way to check if your remote is working is to aim your phone camera at the bulb on the end of the remote control and push several buttons. You'll see the light flashing on your phone screen. If it doesn't flash, your remote is not working. If it does flash and TV doesn't respond, see this video about replacing the sensor. NOTE: Your phone camera can see infrared light that your eyes cannot see.

Hi. My remote and TV was working fine. I did a factory reset(there was a line in the screen). Now my remote turns on the TV but will not pair. My Ir sensor is red lit... but the control wont respond to it... the control responds to other tv... the power button is located directly behind the ir sensor.. i can manually power on but thats as far as it goes and change to source manually... but the control isnt working with this tv which is the original control for it.. Hey thanks for replying but our roku Tv doesn’t switched on/ off using remote, n we don’t know the problem. As you stated in the video the ir sensor isn’t blinking on pressing buttons of remote even though it is switched on by using power button of tv

We also recommend removing the batteries from your remote for five minutes and then installing them back in and attempting to use remote to turn on TV.

Can you recommend a replacement IR sensor for my QN65Q80B Samsung? I can not find a single compatible sensor that will work with it. The TV still works through my Firestick but that’s it. No red light , my power button on the TV doesn’t work either. I purchased it 3/23 and no problems prior. What about a IR Blaster? I’m grasping at straws here?

Original remote fault by water new remote working well but not pair with tv. My problem is without remote it automatically changes where is the problem occur it's in the IR sensor?
@@Cyclingfit1988 Thanks for the reply, the IR sensor is what the remote communicates with to turn on tv. Most TV’s have the IR sensor as a separate part than the WiFi module…which is what the tv communicates with to connect to wifi. If IR sensor is faulty, the remote will not be able to connect to tv.
My Samsung UA40H5 100ARMXL The sensor on TV lights But when using remote I cannot make it give instructions to TV. I have changed TV batteries. There is no issue with remote. Is is possible that the sensor light works but sensor has gone kaput? Please let me know what can I do?

Try replacing the cable as well I think usually you can buy the whole IR blaster and cable together

Do all TV irs illuminate? I have an 08 Tru Tech CRT and don’t see it. Unless it’s super dim.

The control is the older samsung control... my source button doesnt allow me to select remote setup... its the older samsung smart tv...??

Hey, If my TV sensor is broken can i buy something to plug in the TV that will act like a sensor ?
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Some TVs have internal sensors that you can activate through your settings...most modern TVs from 2015 & newer do not have this feature.
You may be able to get a very friendly priced sensor online if your tv doesn’t have that feature. 😎👍
You can download an app to your phone which does not use the sensor.
My TV doesn't have that red light. It's an old visio. The volume and on/off would work than stop. Now nothing. I guess it time for layaway

In my thomson 9A series Android TV inputs button automatically work without remote what is the problem
Thanks for watching, that’s usually an issue with the remote itself and buttons getting stuck or malfunctioning.
Original remote fault by water new remote working well but not pair with tv. My problem is without remote it automatically changes where is the problem occur it's in the IR sensor?

Thanks for the follow up, that’s definitely a possibility. Replacing the IR sensor may solve issue.

Thanks for the reply, the IR sensor is what the remote communicates with to turn on tv. Most TV’s have the IR sensor as a separate part than the WiFi module…which is what the tv communicates with to connect to wifi.
If IR sensor is faulty, the remote will not be able to connect to tv.

The sensor on TV lights
But when using remote I cannot make it give instructions to TV.
I have changed TV batteries. There is no issue with remote.
Is is possible that the sensor light works but sensor has gone kaput?

Thanks for watching & reaching out to us. If red light is burnt out & no longer illuminated when TV is off, however your remote is still able to communicate with sensor to turn TV on & off...sensor is still working fine.

Why there is 2 sensor inside there are 2 sensor and another is light
