@@nydavidfolch Hi. There is simply no fog. Just odd misunderstandings from people with unwarranted hate. A copy is companies like Musician that copies Denafrips and tries to hide it under the rug by telling reviewers not to compare it to Denafrips. LiiSong Canada is an extension of LiiSong.
@Jayiyagi May I ask for a disclosure, that You as a reviewer receive or received no compensation for this review and also that you are no beneficiary of sales of these speakers? It is a bit suspicious straight at the beginning to say that these speakers you consider to be "the king/pinnacle/sensei of open baffle designs", whereas at the end You have compared them to Magnepans, which are no open baffle, and DYI GR-research speakers. What about the Tri-art, Spatial audio, Decware? What I am saying is that making such a statement a man has to have a lot of experience with different open baffle speaker designs. Or were you talking only about design, how they look and are built, and sound not included? And working with the company of final voicing is a clear bias (if not conscious then definitely unconscious).
@@henrikhengerics6782 Hey Henrik. I confirm that I have not received any compensation, financial or product. I also confirm that MACO does not have an affiliate program and thus I do not get anything in return for traffic, sales or otherwise. I was provided 3 different tunings and I chose 1 with the designer after discussing which sounded best to us. I do not see any issue there… it isn’t like I had an active role other than lending my impressions. However if you still think that I was biased, it is what it is, everyone is biased to some degree knowingly or unknowingly and I make sure to disclose any bias I have freely so that the viewers are aware of my biases.
Same. I went with butcher block for mine. Running them with a MiniDSP SHD that does the active cossover and dirac room correction. That feeds a Decware zen to the F15's and a XTZ EDGE A2-300 to the W15's. Sounds absolutely incredible. Im sure the granite would be an improvement, but im happy with what I have.
Brilliant video, Jay. I loved it. Granite is an incredible material - i have some in my house and garden and can well imagine how resonances have no chance. Also the baffle mass forcing the drive units into very high fidelity movement Newton's second law - F=ma for the granite compared with F=ma for the driver & cone. I find it interesting how OB puts different requirements on the compliance of the drive unit suspension compared with an IB design where there would be under/overpressure acting as additional suspension force. I have been seeing a lot of coverage recently of OB designs. Are they maturing sufficiently that the sound now rivals IB/ported IB designs? Maybe I'll have to make a DIY pair by ABX Audiophiles to find out for myself. All the best, Rob in Switzerland
Enjoyed and appreciated very much this review Mr Jay, I’ve been just recently been introduced and familiarized with the open baffle concept speakers. Keep up the good work sir👍🏽👍🏽🔥🎶🎶
Ever heard of Holfi amplifiers? Legend of last century. Amazing story. They were only build for audio, not for looking smart. They all had a wood panel in the front, with only 2 wooden rotary knob, one for volume and one for signal selection. Almost a classical Japanese design. They came with a 35 watts 70 watts and the top product, which used 6 motorcycle batteries as power. Incredible simple build with extremely short signal ways and over dimensioned transformer. They were absolute "the Reference" that they compared other amps too. They are very rare today, since they were a small company, but if you can find one, you can buy them fairly cheap today, since not many knows today what they are. Personaly got the smallest one 35 watts and it still have a 12kg weight. Needless to say they were never exhausted of lack of power in the transients. 35 watts still sounds like a 100 watts, transparent warm and silent. You own your self to hear them. They also build a High End Cd player, a phono preamp.
@@JayiyagiI would like to see a comparison between these drivers and the unmodified drivers. Including measurements. Doubt it is any different, let alone different enough to make the balance between unit and baffle cost justified
@@annebokma4637 Price is $6300 for the birch plywood finish. 40% off price is $3780. The $10,000+ is for the granite and quartz baffle. I think that's pretty fair but that's just me.
@@Jayiyagi the 40% off price I agree is fair, for what you describe. But that is not the MSRP. A pap duet 15 is around the same price range. Of course the true test is hearing it myself. But getting heavy Canadian speakers to Europe just for a listen might be a bit much 😁
These were at capital audio fest, I believe. They were really nice, the sound is good. I think like you said with bad recordings not coming through is a factor that someone must consider. The resolution or clarity wasn't beast. It definitely checks a lot of boxes, and is pleasant but should be heard prior to purchase in my personal opinion. I believe this is the cheapest speaker they produce, so it does definitely shine and have trickle down effects of the higher end speakers, if my memory serves me correct and it's the same product.
As on the MACO VIP waiting list, I have decided on the Clayton Shaw Acoustic Lab CALADAN. For me I am looking for a Company (Clayton) who has history with Baffle design. I will keep an eye out with MACO on their products.
Thanks, Jay! Great to know there's yet more promise in the OB world. Def recommend checking out Clayton Shaw (formerly of Spatial Audio) when you attend Axpona. He's scheduled to be in Room 512 according to their site. (There's a great discussion here on YT between him & Ron of NRD ... if you don't mind me cross-promoting another enthusiast!) Thanks again.
What i don't understand with open baffles is that at the front they take care of guiding the waves and being super meticulous about it. But everyone says that the magic of open baffles comes through their dipole ability, meaning that they emit sound backwards also, which then reflects from the back wall. But the back of the speaker doesn't look engineered at all for sound distribution, meaning that there are technical/electrical parts between the driver and the wall. How is that supposed to work? One gets the feeling that the front is for show.
Great job Jay, as always! I like how you divided your review and the comparison at the end with other speakers. Tell me, could you eventually do a review of very high sensitivity speakers (96db-108 db) for low power Single Ended Triode amplifiers (1, 2 or 3 watts)? I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate and that would also be very helpful! Speakers like Devore 0/96, Lii Audio "Headwrecker" speakers, Rethm "Saadhana" speakers, Cube Audio "Nenuphar" speakers, ETC....)? Thank you and keep on the good work!
Great job was really looking forward to this review. I will check out at the next audio show. Jay please get a hold of the Diptyque dip 140 MK2 , I think you will feel they out preform Maggie’s and a level above a lot of other dipole designs. I would love to hear them with the AGD. I heard the diptyque at CAF this year and it was my favorite along with AGD as best sounding amp. The Merason DAC mk2 was paired with QLN speakers was my other favorite room and some other great brands to check out.
6000$? Those look like lii audio units. The drivers are 1000$ total, lets be generous and add 1000$ for filter/cabling . That leaves 4000$ for a piece of wood and profit. This is silly and truly overpriced. And no they are not the best units/speakers by a long shot.
These are not 1:1 liisong drivers. They have been modified to MACO’s specifications. MACO is also liisong canada If you think its over-priced, you can always DIY yourself. According to Maco, these drivers will launch under Maco's brand sometime this year as well
@@Jayiyagi looking forward to competitive tests. Shame they didn't make the colored plastic parts in a different color to prevent confusion. Also looking forward to hearing how these compare to the usual suspects, PAP springs to mind. The audiopheliac has a pair of pure audio project in a comparable price range... Thnx for reacting, appreciate it
Hi Jay, thanks for the enlightening comparisons. How did you find the detail retrieval given the low treble extension by specs? And did you find these to be good at low listening volumes?
I saw the price and email marketing campaign. I asked directly if these were Lii drivers, they did not respond. I hear you that they may be modified, but nonetheless transparency is important. It’s a big markup, even at a discount, so unless we can get more information on how this is different than Lii DIY and custom baffles, I just don’t think they’re going to find success. I wish them well.
@@jeanlephunkthey are; it’s funny that this video just dropped today because I was in class researching drivers and discovered the lii full range pairs for my own diy project and immediately was reminded of these speakers.
Pro tip for open baffles, use silicone based lubricant for lubricating the surrounds and the spider. The entire sound performance is increased quite alot. The lows go lower, the dbs raise, the overall efficiency raise the dynamics increase and the distortion is lower due to friction interference. Go light with the application and keep adding until its absorbed but not bleeding towards the actual cone area. It takes time and patience, but for open baffles, I think its just about the best thing you can do for them and it happens to be the easiest and cheapest. It also perserves the components, it should not affect rubber foam surrounds. It might affect cheaper poly-x foams but those are on cheaper speakers not these high end ones.
That web site was designed by a marketing company to look pretty, have have enough words to make it look like they are telling you something while saying absoltly NOTHING. Not listing materials or price, et alone any information on materials for the speakers, sensitivity etc.
@@Jayiyagi I litterally went through their website 3 times in the first 6 minutes of your video. As someone who runs a digital marketing team if I can't look at the UI and have a good UX in under 30 seconds of quickly looking at a site, there is a problem.
Send these MACO Macarias to Danny so he can remove the cheese from this crossover and replace it with his mystical improvements (fix this mess into a gem) be it they are crushed and deformed (trouble with suppliers). Danny can improve any speaker on earth; he's a god. Basically 20 - 40 years of speaker design from the manufacturer pales to what Danny can do in two days with your speaker.
Expensive OB's with full range drivers are a difficult sell given that it's exactly the configuration that is easiest to DIY. The drivers are Lii Audio although I am pretty sure MACO will claim they were made "to their specifications".
How would these rank for 55-65db listening? What speakers have you heard that perform better in this regard? Do these speaker perform better for late night listening than others you have heard, do you have any examples? Thank you for the review!
All speakers "pressurize" the room but with traditional speakers, the room nodes can artificially boost some frequencies which might be enjoyable but isn't high fidelity
A well-done and thorough video. I think it would've been better to compare the NX-Oticas with the Macarias. The NX-Treme is a line array model, so to me, you're comparing apples with oranges.
Oh man… as much as I love the NX-Oticas at its attractive price point… and I want to buy one someday, from what I’ve heard, they just don’t stand up to the Macarias like NX-tremes do
@@Jayiyagi Thanks for the reply. I disagree, because they're two different animals. I don't like line sources, but I loved listening to the NX-Oticas. And the price for the Macarias seems extreme to me.
I made some speakers with a totally open 5" single driver plus a woofer (that is in a bass reflex box). The 5" FR driver is on top of the box. I have a filter on the FR driver to stop bass excurtions. The treble is extended cos of the open driver and med range is the best I heard compared to anynother speaker I had! That's including my B&W 706 reference speakers that cost 2 grand. On my open driver speakers the med has exeptional control and sounds perfectly linear and not a single sour note. A sound I never heared before. I have a filter on the the open driver and a large inductor on the 6" woofer in a relatively large box. The woofer warms up the open med from the 5" driver, which has to match the bass output level with the right amount of warming. That's fun trying to achieve. I did it all with 5 crossover components all up. Theres 3 components on the open dtiver (a 2 mf cap and a 100mf cap and a 2 ohm resistor) and 2 components on the woofer (a 5.6 mh inductor and a 1 ohm resistor). I tried to get rid of the resistor but it was way too much bass. I also modified the open driver with cutaways and slits in the cone. This extends the reble and adds transient response. No whizzer cone and l want to build some phase plugs for it them (similar to the ones on the speakers in this video). My open cone speakers are by far the best speakers I made so far. Especially in the med range. It's med range I never heared before! The voice a is just so 3D and so there! So defined (without being over dominating or SHOUTY in any way)! And holographic off the scale! 😅
Good review. Thanks 🙏 Yep. Pretty much agree with other comments re: scarcity of technical information on manufacturer’s website. Would be useful for prospective customers for system matching (efficiency/frequency range) as well as dimensions. Will feed that back to them separately.

This are the Liionidas Open Baffle speaker from Lii Song Audio but with the cheaper F-15 drivers. Also you can have a better speaker with Pure Audio Project.
Looks like some Lii audio drivers (F-15 and W-15). Drivers would be 1000 bucks all in, if you're comfortable diy-ing or found the crossover values you could probably make yourself a comparable speaker for significantly cheaper.
I love how we pay extravagantly more for open baffle designs... aka less speaker and you better have a treated listening room or else it's gonna be a nightmare. To be clear, there is no R&D done for cabinet considerations or air flow when the room is treated as an "infinite baffle"... the room is the enclosure.
I would disagree about the difficulty of the room and treatment. Open baffle speakers are easier to integrate due to the automatic reduction of bass nodes in 2 out of 3 axis.
I love how you act as if you know what you're talking about. When you're actually totally clueless. And are completely wrong about how OB works in a room. ✌️
@markceci9896 what are you on about? The rear reflections are literally the biggest concern. Particularly when finding 1/4 and 1/2 wave lengths to eliminate nodes/super positions whether that's between themselves or a non damped reflector.
Not sure about that in the early seventies the most common auto audio speaker were Jensen 6x9 with that kind of come in the center and it played full range with Queen,Zep,Yes and all the other stuff we listened to,However for the money it kinda sucks
Where can find the technical specs for the speakers? Sensitivity, power handling, frequency response, weight, dimensions etc? These are things I’d like to know before reserving a speaker. If it’s on their website I can’t find it. If they offered a full refund after being able to demo in home it wouldn’t be as big of a deal but to take a 20% hit is a bit steep imo

I've heard another video interviewing the maker the Lii F15 runs fullrange and the W15 is crossed at 300hz second order. A whooping big air coil which I read somewhere isn't the best choice for a low pass.
I built a pair of OB with the exact drivers used here. Butcher block baffles and closely designed to the LiiAudio drawings. I used both the Lii crossover as well as bi amping with Rogue tube mono blocks full range to F15's and Crown XLS low passed to W15's. I also own Magnepan 3.7i's. I just sold the OB's for $700! The raw drivers sell for about $1000 a pair or slightly less. While I agree with much you said, I find the asking price for these to be absurd. Beautiful baffles and assuredly not cheap to make but! Word on the street is that the full range driver takes at least 100 hours to break in! Are these fully broken in? I have also heard from so many that a low powered, single ended tube amp is mandatory to get the best sound. All in all, I am glad I built them and while I lost close to $700 in material cost I had a blast building them and listening. My Maggies easily surpass them on multiple levels. I certainly heard the similarities in the two speakers and I am thoroughly intrigued with OB's. I will seeking out other OB speakers at AXPONA this year. I know that these drivers used in an OB configuration have almost a cult following and while I understand why I think the break in issue is a major problem and mandating a low power (Decware?) amp limits the potential of these speakers using these drivers.
Hey Tim, you may have used similar drivers but it is not possible that you used the same drivers since these drivers are not out in the market yet, please check the pinned comments. Also if you build diy speakers before then you know as well as I do that just because you used similar/same drivers, does not mean you have built something that sounds the same as the Macarias. Thanks for sharing about what you built tho!
The full range (F15) do have a different colour phase plug and the surround looks slightly different. I'll admit they could be different drivers but I can't even imagine what differences could justify the significantly higher price. But, as always, it is what the market will tolerate. I still have the question on break in and opinions on low power single ended tube amps. I'm just not buying the value proposition here. I''ll be at AXPONA and will assuredly take a look/listen. BTW, I am all about DIY as I have built 4 different CSS kits and find their value to be incredible! Very high quality drivers too. @@Jayiyagi
Thank you Jay for sharing. The reality of the pricing of audio equipment is that its mostly overpriced. Toys for big boys. Now lets look into the pricing of vintage equipment. Its gone sky high into absurb numbers. They only way I will ever purchase any hi-end products is if I win the lottery. I still own my 1979 system.
Hey there Jay, you mentioned the speaker you have alone is the granite variant costing ~$13000, but my fear is you said singular speaker. Did you mean to say speakers as in the price points are per PAIR? Or is my fear confirmed that these prices are for just one speaker?
@@Jayiyagi So the drivers are lii-audio from china. The F15's (that's the full-range driver at the top) is $400 for the pair. The bass drivers W-15 are $745 for the pair. I don't doubt that these speakers sound good but they need to be priced appropriately. I do understand slate and marble is difficult to source and demands a premium. I hope you do a DIY build like this some day, I have no doubt you can do it.
If you think its over-priced, you can always DIY yourself. But these are not the exact same drivers you listed even though they do look quite similar. According to Maco, these drivers will launch under Maco's brand sometime this year as well. Also Maco is lii song Canada One day for me but not today 😂 would need more than a router for that marble
Way to expensive for something that’s so easy to build , That Lii audio drivers aren’t even that expensive , not saying they are not good , just looking at price/ quality on offer ratio
Punchier bass is pretty normal at higher volumes anyway . . .For instance if, at a live concert with amplified sound, one were to turn the sound system's volume down, you probably wouldn't be getting that chest pounding bass :-) Macaria is showing their speakers at Axpona but NOT in Montreal on 22 March? BIG mistake! There are a LOT of 2 channel fans that show up at that show. I wrote them to suggest they show up in Montreal along with congrats on their efforts but never heard back from them. NOT nice. OH! And on another less important but visually kind of negative, is the COLOUR of the phase plugin the bass driver - they REALLY need to change that colour . . . it looks like . . . well . . . YOU fill in the blanks :-) GOOD review as usual, Jay! THANKS!!!
Still awaiting a demo of the $3k caladan from Clayton shaws new company. The caladan are supposed the compete with the $10k x4 from Spatial Audio labs.
I had a pair of Hawthorne audio drivers st one time, I built my own baffles. They were very good until we renovated our house to hardwood. Much to bright and I sold them. I love OB speakers, but at that price?? Not many can afford those, then you need very expensive gear behind them to do them justice. Love audio reviews but when prices reach thousands of dollars for a set of speakers or one piece of gear I move on.
The biggest problem with open baffle is one has to be a tidy person . i am NOT.😂 Those speakers would be covered in dust with all manner of spiders living in them with the additional possibility of alien spores (my wife is convinced i'm from another planet ) getting ready to hatch during a song with powerful bass.
@@Jayiyagi ... Same!.. I started thinking about having 2 mini trees in my room between the speakers and amp.. I started seeing A.I. renders on FB.. that got me hooked on it.. haha.. Damn marketing manipulation.. grrr.
With the idea of an open baffle it always nags me that virtually all recordings are mastered with box speakers. So you end up with how it is intended to sound. On the other hand who cares how it was intended. It's your experience which counts.
What? Even better than Danny’s rig with servo subs? You’ve heard that system. And they are 7’ tall so that rules them out for many people. And as Danny has shown in his Spectral decay video, full range drivers still need crossovers.
"These are not 1:1 liisong drivers. They have been modified to MACO’s specifications. MACO is always liisong canada" So where are the changes ? hard pill to swallow knowing for how much the lii drivers go for and look the same.
They do actually look physically different. I don't know the exact changes. According to Maco, these drivers will launch under Maco's brand sometime this year as well
@@Jayiyagithat’s called a rebrand. And you believe that they are modified to their specs? Really? But then again you believe GR Research crossover modification videos too. 😂
Check out the wizard's final foray into OB at a much more reasonable cost or actually similar cost to their plywood model and 40% discount. Clayton Shaw.
I think the open baffles should be 4x per channel high ohm over 10 inch diameter full range like at least 16 or 32 ohm, wired in series then hooked up to an otl tube amplifier. NO CROSSOVER NO TRANNIES!!! Range and efficiency would be next level. Maybe use the transcendent pinnacle otl 300b amplifier with out feedback to raise impedance range it likes higher ohm speakers, 4x16 or 4x32ohm would be closer to the tubes in series impedance too. AAND these setups should be used in p-a and concerts in every capacity. Deep bass would probably need more of the 15 inch cones. I think its a good setup all things considered, and tubes last a very long time with heatsinking. It would BEAT TO DEATH silicon and boxes.
Nice but way overpriced. When you have a system for building speakers, it's just routine. Open baffles are just not priced what they were due to their increase in popularity. It's like solar energy and electric. Companies reap the benefits before the customer does. Their website is really commercial looking.
🤣🤣 those are just lii song drivers right? That's a HUGH markup for a set of baffles. Anybody interested in these who is cost conscious can just buy the speakers direct from lii song and have a set of baffles made (or make yourself with basic plywood and hand tools). Save thousands of dollars for the exact sound. Imagine if I took a basic Samsung TV, put a wood frame around it and charged 13,000$ for it😂
@@Jayiyagifor stock drivers + a bit of plywood we are looking at +/- 3000$ and an afternoon's work. They must have done some real magic to justify an additional 10,000$!!! I've been playing with those speakers and various baffle materials/designs for a few years now and agree that they sound fantastic!! My current preference is solid two inch thick cedar baffles tilted back 5 degrees with drivers rear mounted. They make for an incredible set of speakers at 3000$!!!
No written proof of sensitivity, frequency response, loading characteristics, or actual electroacoustic data of any kind are available on the site. Therefore, this product may as well not exist - how do you expect people to put down money on something they cannot evaluate for compatibility with their room or system? Surely not just with patter about "edge" and "smear" and "punch." Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hardline measurement guy, but this ain't it. I do like that it's a Toronto-based company/shop, at least.

@Jayiyagi why not taking the occasion to clear the fog about the LiiSong (US, Canada) being copies of LiiAudio China?
@@henrikhengerics6782
Hey Henrik.
The MACO Macarias are definitely a conversation starter at any audiophile cocktail party.
I built a set just like these. I’ve been touting how good they are for over a year. I’m using a Crown amp to power the bass unit. I love it
Building your own is the way to go with these 👍
Im working on one set also not sure on how to build the xover, can you help me?
X2 on the mini dsp. i’m still searching for the perfect amp for the F-15s.
You crazy diy people! 🤪😎
Good intro to these speakers to the community. Thanks for the effort.
Reminds me of my bathroom’s dual sink countertop. Regardless looks amazing and compelling design.
what are you waiting for? Who needs a dual bathroom sink? Turn that shit into a speaker baffle! 😂
@@Jayiyagi 😂 Man you are the best! Hope to meet you someday. Will you be at Axpona this year?
I will be at Axpona this year again :)
The fact that they can't even accept the drivers are made by lii audio & you also go along with this shenanigans tells me everything i wanna know.
The drivers are made by lii song under Maco’s brand specifications. Maco is also lii song Canada
“Can’t accept” … when and where were they asked?
Man, you got such a beautiful set-up for all your speaker testing 😎👌
Finally, I get to see the review of these baby's, and it was worth the wait!
Thanks, Jay!
The driver cost to baffle is way too wide. Those Lii Audio are what, $299 for the pair? The woofer is $299 each.
These are not 1:1 liisong drivers. They have been modified to MACO’s specifications. MACO is always liisong canada
@@JayiyagiI would like to see a comparison between these drivers and the unmodified drivers. Including measurements. Doubt it is any different, let alone different enough to make the balance between unit and baffle cost justified
It’s the general escape: “no these are not stock drivers but build to our spec’s”. Yeah sure, custom color phase plug…😂
But getting heavy Canadian speakers to Europe just for a listen might be a bit much 😁
Never heard of the Maco brand and I am an open baffle speaker fan. Thanks Jay!
Wonder if Lii Song OB kit can compete with this
They are Maco drivers. Maco is also liisong Canada
Open baffle should be cheaper as there is no box.. but like with some lightweight sportscars.. you pay more for less.
Such a great watch. Thank you for sharing this Jay.
The crossover tuning has changed quite a bit since Captial Audio Fest
As on the MACO VIP waiting list, I have decided on the Clayton Shaw Acoustic Lab CALADAN. For me I am looking for a Company (Clayton) who has history with Baffle design. I will keep an eye out with MACO on their products.
Nice review. Any plans to review Clayton Shaw's Caladan OB speakers?
Yes! Definitely interested
Now thats a game changer
Jay, I've bought enough speakers. Leave me alone 😅😅😂

An excellent review Jay
I saw a werewolf drinkin' a piña colada at Trader Vic's

Ahhoooh werewolves of London
I've actually done that but my hair was no where near perfect..
Actually, this specific custom full-range driver from Lii is not available for the DYI market, only similar drivers. But nice review!
OMG, the cap in that crossover was manufactured in Wales where my mum is from (Cardiff) and half my family remains. Ewch Cymru!!!
I'm sticking with the Typhons.
Those surrounds on the large drivers appear similar to vintage foam cone surrounds. Hopefully they are rubber or a material that lasts.
They are beautiful for sure. I want mine in Egyptian Rose Granite
MACO is also liisong canada
If you think its over-priced, you can always DIY yourself. According to Maco, these drivers will launch under Maco's brand sometime this year as well
@@Jayiyagi looking forward to competitive tests. Shame they didn't make the colored plastic parts in a different color to prevent confusion.

Thnx for reacting, appreciate it
Most speakers sold are a minimum of 3 or 4 times the cost of the parts and materials. Some are a lot more than that.
Hi Jay, thanks for the enlightening comparisons. How did you find the detail retrieval given the low treble extension by specs? And did you find these to be good at low listening volumes?
I wish they offered a kit.
They look just like liiaudios
@@jeanlephunkthey are; it’s funny that this video just dropped today because I was in class researching drivers and discovered the lii full range pairs for my own diy project and immediately was reminded of these speakers.

Considering that Maco is liisong canada… your calling bs on the brand you are a fan of…
@@diybriguy well... Maco is LiiSong Canada... I am not sure how that information can be misleading when its true.
I wonder how they would compare to clayton lab Caladan speakers.
I’d would like to have heard a comparison to a Spatial Audio equivalent.
That web site was designed by a marketing company to look pretty, have have enough words to make it look like they are telling you something while saying absoltly NOTHING. Not listing materials or price, et alone any information on materials for the speakers, sensitivity etc.

Who's Danny?
Expensive OB's with full range drivers are a difficult sell given that it's exactly the configuration that is easiest to DIY. The drivers are Lii Audio although I am pretty sure MACO will claim they were made "to their specifications".
Drivers look identical to W-15 and F-15
How would these rank for 55-65db listening? What speakers have you heard that perform better in this regard? Do these speaker perform better for late night listening than others you have heard, do you have any examples? Thank you for the review!
Not the best for low listening. I think speakers like totem is better for that
Those drivers are by lii audio no?
Certainly looks that way. Way overpriced considering what you can purchase the raw drivers for.
All speakers "pressurize" the room but with traditional speakers, the room nodes can artificially boost some frequencies which might be enjoyable but isn't high fidelity
For your pure musical enjoyment, Macaria or Platimon?
Hey Jay, how do you compare this driver with Lowther or AER or Voxativ? are they made by Liisong?
What about Clayton Shaw's new Caladans?

Cool man!
Interesting. Are you planning to make a video about it? Or is there more built info on DIyaudio?

This are the Liionidas Open Baffle speaker from Lii Song Audio but with the cheaper F-15 drivers. Also you can have a better speaker with Pure Audio Project.
Also, Linkwitz
Looks like some Lii audio drivers (F-15 and W-15). Drivers would be 1000 bucks all in, if you're comfortable diy-ing or found the crossover values you could probably make yourself a comparable speaker for significantly cheaper.
Also, the Liionidas extreme is quite similar. Albeit a 10 inch full range instead of a 15 for 4600.
@@amb3cog all you do is pretentiously reply "wrong" 🤣🤡
@markceci9896 what are you on about? The rear reflections are literally the biggest concern. Particularly when finding 1/4 and 1/2 wave lengths to eliminate nodes/super positions whether that's between themselves or a non damped reflector.
OB is making a big comeback these days, like bell bottom jeans...
It really is! I gotta check out some more.
I would really like to see some measurements of this speaker.
There is no way a 15” full range speaker can play anything above 10khz.
Not sure about that in the early seventies the most common auto audio speaker were Jensen 6x9 with that kind of come in the center and it played full range with Queen,Zep,Yes and all the other stuff we listened to,However for the money it kinda sucks
The 15” doesn’t go that high. It’s crossed over at 300hz to the whizzed cone. Do you research before making ignorant comments

Can every speaker maker please specify if pricing is per each or per pair FFS?
pricing is for the pair
Jay, do you put these above the Closer Acoustics Forlane you recently reviewed?
two very different sounds. The Macarius are warmer speakers with less focus on transparency and detail while the forlanes are the opposite
@@Jayiyagi

Like I said in the video, I wouldn’t say one is better than the other per se. Just different.
They don’t need crossovers but they need BSC to tame the rising response from baffle step loss…otherwise things get shouty
One damn good watt!

At $699 a pair, they're great value.

Imagine if I took a basic Samsung TV, put a wood frame around it and charged 13,000$ for it😂
These are not 1:1 liisong drivers. They have been modified to MACO’s specifications. MACO is also liisong canada
@@billbones1000 Price is $6300 for the birch plywood finish. 40% off price is $3780. The $10,000+ is for the granite and quartz baffle
Complete BS if they are telling you they are “modified to their specs”.
Do you have any kind of interest in MACO?
Haha what do you mean? Of course I am interested so thats why I checked it out
Build your own for $10,000 less 😂
No written proof of sensitivity, frequency response, loading characteristics, or actual electroacoustic data of any kind are available on the site. Therefore, this product may as well not exist - how do you expect people to put down money on something they cannot evaluate for compatibility with their room or system? Surely not just with patter about "edge" and "smear" and "punch." Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hardline measurement guy, but this ain't it.
I do like that it's a Toronto-based company/shop, at least.
