Great vid Doc as always. When you describe someone the character of Jamie as "Anti social in his behaviour but still has a high degree of empathy and morality" I believe that those sorts of people start out as social, but through their life experiences they gradually turn anti social because they're surrounded by people they view as having poor empathy and morality. They can be or even might want to be social, but they feel that so many people don't hold themselves to their high standards of empathy and morality, that they shut away from the world and yet still keep their code. Just a theory ofc.
I'm also one of those people who has never seen top boy I clicked because I wanted to hear some shit about stalkers lmao.
Many moons ago when my kids were dinky I did a stint as a dinner lady so I could see my two dudes every lunchtime. There was one boy at the school who had an extremely deep rooted hated of females and he tried to be cunning. He wouldn't hurt girls himself but would instruct other boys to hit the girls. Of course the other boys piped up straight away and snitched on him. This was happening regularly so I spoke to a staff member about him. They were fully aware but also didn't know quite what to do about it. I decided to give him a punishment so I spoke to him about his behaviour and then told him he had to sit on the carpet for 5 minutes and think about what I had said to him. He glared at me with total hatred. Never spoke. No emotion. Turned his back on me and faced the wall (even though I hadn't told him to do that). He was 8. Just 8. Today he is 18. God only knows what the women in his life are and will go through........ Bad stuff........ Very bad stuff......
Hello. I got into Top Boy through my sons and became quite hooked! It is brilliantly written and compelling throughout. My problem is the normalisation of the truly horrible personalities and behaviours of the main characters, and the obvious glamorisation. They are selfish, cold, ruthless, treacherous and spiteful. The ultimately successful shipment of drugs in Morocco is clearly presented as a positive outcome not just for the protagonists but for us too. I found myself beginning to feel desensitised to the violence and the murders. Isolation is a theme too. Sully's self-imposed and Lauren's enforced.
Great video, I have a suggestion how about a video about John Kramer, the jigsaw killer from the saw franchise

Hi Dr. Das. Just like stalkers criticize everyone except themselves, in my opinion they are dangerous and totally creepy! Who wants to waste time with someone who never has empathy? I'll never be around that type of enviroment because it isn't healthy and that's exactly what they do is try to ruin us empaths health in order to be abusive.
