  • Fan wouldn’t come and was causing the vehicle to over heat. I show how to test the fans are working which pretty much assures your fuses, Relays, and fans are good. Suggest you do this test first.

    I brought one from AutoZ and it didn't work, so I have to buy the OEM and it work prefect, sometime you just have to buy OEM instead of aftermarket

    the cooling fan switch works like a light switch - on or off.
    a sensor "senses" something (like coolant temperature) and makes that info available (for a computer or maybe a gauge for coolant temp, etc.).

      Yeah Im trying to find out if this is a SWITCH or Sensor? thanks. Ebay listing call em all switch sensors which makes no sense.

      @@filip6472 In this video he showed how to replace the radiator fan SWITCH. The temperature SENSOR is similar, but goes into the engine block, underneath where the air filter is (I think).

    I suggest you showing yourself doing the work, maybe telling that the switch is screwed into the radiator Ect.

    15/16 socket fits better. Also you dont have to drain coolant, if you take it off and put the new one on you shouldnt lose more than 3-4 fluid ounces of coolant

    Radiator fan doesn't come on, unless i turn on the ac. Is it a temp sensor switch

    • @CommonGuy
      @CommonGuy  4 года назад +3

      Yes it is a temp switch.

      Are you sure your CRV engine is up to temperature? That K engine is set to run hot. I was testing my fans, so I let the CRV idle in the driveway for 20 minutes, and the temp gauge was at normal position the whole time, just below the temp icon on the gauge. I figured out I should close the hood to keep the heat in, that quickly raised the engine temperature, about 10 minutes later the radiator fan came on, I was surprised, I thought the fan was dead.
      But I also saw that the temp gauge was above normal, at the halfway mark, when the fan came on. BUT only the radiator fan came on, not the ac fan also. I think they're both supposed to come on if the temp sensor detects the engine is hot enough to turn the rad fan on. I don't know, though.
      The AC compressor exploded a month ago, like literal explosion, and I do not want to do this test by turning the AC on to check the AC fan... I don't want to damage the serpentine belt or other accessories if the compressor is seized when the compressor clutch engages, if the clutch even engages anymore...
      I don't know how else to test the AC fan. I can't even reach its power connection, I think I'd have to disassemble the CRV front end to reach it. So, I can't send hte fan 12v directly to see if it even spins. I've checked all the relays, I've tried them all in the horn relay position, the horn works with each of them, so all relevant relays seem good.
      I'd really like to know how to test the AC fan without turning on the AC!

    Bro I have a question I just bought a o5 Crv model se and I notice d I getting overheats issues while sitting in traffic not driving in highways the both fans turns on when I put the ac the guy that sell me the car he mentioned to me that he replace the both fans but I haven’t see the fan kicks when the engine gets to the proper temperature

    • @CommonGuy
      @CommonGuy  5 лет назад

      Mine kicked on at a slightly higher temp. Wait a bit to see but don’t let it over heat. But it sounds like the fan isn’t coming on when sitting still so did you still check the temp switch?

    • @thexflexclan
      @thexflexclan 5 лет назад +2

      Common Guy I fixed it already it was the fan switch I think the guy that has the car before he replace the both fans and put an aftermarket switch but the fan only kicks for a 5 seconds I guess that switch was bad out of the box so I take a note after get one from Honda it cost a few $ mine came with 100.04 $ with tax but after I installed I took. Notes the fans kicks on the temperature 218F and the fans kicks and it drops the temperature on 189 or 87 in seconds so the temperature drops like 22 degrees:) so I’m happy no more overheating in traffic

    • @CommonGuy
      @CommonGuy  5 лет назад

      Sorry I got back to you so late. Some how I missed your notification. But the Fan Switch is the temp switch I was referring to. It closes when it reaches a certain level. That or the AC fan is the issue when it gets hot sitting still but ok when driving.

    • @thexflexclan
      @thexflexclan 5 лет назад +1

      Common Guy the temperature sensor it was ok I plug my scanner to check the temperature if it was the same as the gauge and it kinda matches so now that you mention the ac when I turn the ac I hear 👂 a noise sometimes does but I don’t know I’m thinking is the tensioner pulley or idlle pulley it makes the noise when I turn the ac it looks like when there’s so load on it the bearing it’s dying i gotta take out the serpentine bell to check on those pulley or the clutch on the ac cars those days are nightmare

    • @alphanumeric1529
      @alphanumeric1529 3 года назад

      @@thexflexclan I didn't deal with the CRV overheating in traffic, and the AC compressor exploded, literally like a fragmentation grenade, sharp shards of aluminum everywhere in the engine bay. So fix that clutch, or what ever it is in the accessory system that is making noise before the compressor explodes. If it explodes, it pretty much totals the car, the whole AC system needs to be replaced, everything, compressor, condenser, all of the lines, both high and low pressure lines... everything, they're all filled with aluminum shards. We're talking $1000's of dollars.. to repair (actually, replace) the AC system. About half of what the car is worth...
