“Because I wanted to, and because he’s really cute.” Is a totally acceptable answer. (Which is exactly why I’ve got a Polish doe and a NL Dwarf/Lionhead mix.)
Three years ago, unbeknown to me at the time, my tiny little boy Netherlands dwarf 'introduced himself' to my beautiful, huge New Zealand White girl... and their seven kits are all still with me, for life, and their all super size tank rabbits, and all totally amazing. Nature will always find a way.
Thank you for posting today. I really needed the positive video to help me feel better. I lost my prized buck to a surgery that he had to have and my heart is broken. Thank you for making me feel better♥️
You did a good job posing him for a newbie. Ringo is a cutie. He has a very nice head. There are other dwarf breeds you could use. Mini Rex, Mini Satin. I love Netherland bucks.
My oncle did breed a new zeland doe with a netherlan dwarf. Some of the offspring were closer to dwarf size, some were in the middle other were big. He breed my doe and she had 11 kits she was a really good mama, the breeding before that were 5 and 6 kits, and all the other breeding she did after were 16 to 23 kits and she never had one died. and only the first 3 breeding were with a dwarf male to make her first breeding and delivering easier. My oncle did that all the time with young does.
He’ll get the job done! I just picked up a dwarf/Flemish giant cross a couple weeks ago at a swap. I bought her because I’m curious what she’ll turn out looking like, plus she was only $5! Lol!
She’s a really pretty blue! I have pedigreed New Zeland, so I’m hoping she will get big enough to put with the buck to produce meat mutts. Or some really pretty pet rabbits.
Ringo is really cute. Looks like you need to get him a red bull seen those commercials with the puppies and great Dane mom ,dad is a bassist hound. That's what came across my mind.
Hi Tealstone! I’m a rabbit color genetics nerd and heard you were looking for advice. I’ve worked on new breed and color CODs before and they’re incredibly rewarding and fun! But also can be easy to shoot yourself in the foot. Some tips: 1. If you’re trying to create a Netherland Dwarf with creme color, check out the Champagne Netherlands (this was a painstaking process they already did so you won’t need to do it over). Champagne has the si gene that makes Creme. 2. If you just want to breed size down, it will be much faster to stay within the breed then to fix the problems that a Netherland Dwarf outcross will cause for future generations (you might end up with recessive that decrease your viable litter sizes for years to come). 3. Make sure to be transparent with the Creme D’ Argent folks if you sell any of these Rabbits in the future, even if the traits have been seemingly bred out. breeders outcrossing without transparency has caused a bit of drama in the past with certain situations due to hidden genetics. 4. Netherland Daarfs in particular have a lot of potential for bringing in a huge assortment of unwanted genes. Better options might be if you can find a small Cinnamon, Palomino, Red New Zealand (out of reds), or Fawn Silver. Even a Lilac (the breed) will have less potential recessives than an ND. 4. Research Dwarf gene and make sure you’re prepared for this. It causes s high mortality rate and obscure is the visible size of your rabbits. If you’re trying to breed down in size, keep in mind that a true dwarf will be always be smaller because of the dwarf gene, but once you breed that gene out, the rabbits’ true weight is expressed. So it makes selecting for weight a bit tricky if you plan on breeding the gene out later.
Forgot to mention! The silver gene is recessive, so unless the orange buck carries it (champagne or creme parents on pedigree but that’s pretty uncommon), you won’t get any in the first generation. but in the generation after you could get some if both parents carry it.
@@lunareclipse2553 thank you so much for all the info! After posting this video I’ve been discussing with some friends about using a fawn silver with high Rufus. I think that would be our best bet. No worries on the selling aspect. We are going to eat the culls. This information is very helpful, thank you! 💜
How small are your goals? Tiny like Ringo or like mini rex, florida white sized? Because Florida white might be a better choice size wise. Even a red mini satin maybe? You'd have sheen recessively floating around. Polish probably aren't that much bigger to breed to your Cremes. Neat idea. Sounds fun though.
Nethies are the cutest thing on earth! You said it perfectly. The big beautiful eyes and short ears. But also for me it's the big head relative to body and flat face.
I'm sooo excited! I LOVE watching your videos. I recently purchased a Netherland Dwarf buck. I love him so much that I got two 7 week old Netherland Dwarf does this last Monday. I plan on breeding them. 😁
He’s maybe too young but I see this video is five months old, so maybe he’s ready to breed them now. Netherland dwarfs are the sweetest bunnies on earth, I’ve had them my entire life. They can get super round and I LOVE that they look like babies!!!! They never age. Omg he’s so cute😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Ringo!😆lil studdly bun hahah Id be interested in more videos about posing him! I have such a funny time trying to work with my baby hollands on posing❤I met someone local that did a similar breeding, she was working towards producing a glavcot rabbit
Love them now too. I bought a trio of Netherlands in December. I have a blue buck and the two does are lilac otter and chocolate otter. Both have litters now. My lilac otter has a lilac otter and blue otter. The chocolate otter had black otters. They are so fun.
I’m thinking about getting one! I love how cute they are. My lion head baby rabbit passed away. The one I’m gonna try to get is the same color as yours!
We let our nethie breed our Champagne d'Argent! It can be done! The only bad thing is, the silvering isn't great with mixes so it has to then be rebred back into it.
Thanks for getting the same breed as my sister, hers is a bit of a darker brown. I love the Netherland Dwarf because of there short ears. I was also like if you get cinnabun a rabbit friend a Holland lop or something, Yeah no way. Netherland Dwarfs are a very different type of rabbit.
I had a question about breeding rabbits that aren't similar in size. My new fox does are nearly 8 months and 8 pounds (they are smaller than the other senior doe who is around 10 pounds and I have had for nearly a year now) but my buck is closer to 12 pounds and tends to bite onto the doe when he breeds. I am worried that the difference in size could cause an injury. Didn't find any guides on what is a maximum difference in weight or anything for the does in comparison to the buck. I don't want to make any poor decisions but not really sure if I am just overthinking it or not.
OMG!OMG!OMG! So STINKIN’ CUTE! ADORABLE! Want to cuddle too! I had a dwarf rabbit when I was a child, which, knowing what I know now, they are not the best breed for children because they tend to nip. We made it work though and his name was Oreo. Netherland dwarf rabbits are prone to difficulty breathing and dental problems - all this because we, humans, have decided to breed this animal because we think it looks cute. The animals are the ones that pay the price for our whims, some with every breath. Please, educate yourself when you are considering to buy a pet and check what the species or breed in question needs and whether it is healthy. Do it for their sake. Please also be aware that sharing and liking videos like this further promote others to buy this breed, again to the detriment of the individual creatures involved. Whether or not this particular animal is healthy is not what is at stake: the facial features of this breed greatly increase the chance of indvidual animals suffering.
Nethies are the cutest thing on earth! You said it perfectly. The big beautiful eyes and short ears. But also for me it's the big head relative to body and flat face.

Netherland does are grouchy
Hahaha 😆
Definitely ours was,she was smart too!
I think that as soon as Ringo grows up, he will become a "hump hump" 😋 and the hormones will be whirligig/top??? i mean (hyrrä🤔 💫)
maybe you could help, put the female in the right position. I don't know if it works.
is it possible to artificially inseminate rabbits 🤔
It is, but I don’t have the proper equipment to do so 😊
Netherland dwarf rabbits are prone to difficulty breathing and dental problems - all this because we, humans, have decided to breed this animal because we think it looks cute.
Ringo says thanks for your comment! 🐇

You said it perfectly. The big beautiful eyes and short ears.
But also for me it's the big head relative to body and flat face.
