It's so crazy not to test for EPO. It can cause an improvement of cardiovascular capacity of like 10%. (for sure that much when also using blood doping - which is taking out blood over time, doing some processing so it becomes dense in red blood cells, then putting it back in the morning of the fight). EPO is pretty easy to test for. Blood doping is more difficult to test for, but it depends on whether transfusions/IVs are allowed or now (the testing methods for blood doping are basically to check if there is evidence of plastic blood bag (some plastic particles? IDK) in the blood. They do this kind of testing in bicycle racing. I would think that using EPO has extra risks when weight cutting is involved.

It's so crazy not to test for EPO. It can cause an improvement of cardiovascular capacity of like 10%. (for sure that much when also using blood doping - which is taking out blood over time, doing some processing so it becomes dense in red blood cells, then putting it back in the morning of the fight). EPO is pretty easy to test for. Blood doping is more difficult to test for, but it depends on whether transfusions/IVs are allowed or now (the testing methods for blood doping are basically to check if there is evidence of plastic blood bag (some plastic particles? IDK) in the blood. They do this kind of testing in bicycle racing. I would think that using EPO has extra risks when weight cutting is involved.
