These games are organised and hosted by clans on a private server.
They work because everyone follows a set of rules in order to recreate a more realistic battle scenario.
Example: Keeping a good formation, no solo playing, no trolling.
It worth also mentioning these are friendly games. Winning is certainly our goal but it doesn't matter as long as we have an epic fight to talk about!

I just found this channel and have never heard of this game before. But I have to say this is a fantastic production value, and the community you appear to have built in this game is impressive, to say the least. I really enjoyed your videos and wanted to ask if you've ever considered adding a story element to what you're doing here? Some scripted background to tie one battle to the next to keep a sense of continuity and add a layer of almost drama and significance to the next battle. You clearly have great instincts with your camera and editing work to capture the battle itself, maybe that could be a new direction and challenge? Anyway, love the videos and either way, keep up the great work!
I reread that and it felt almost robotic, like a sales pitch lol. So I wanted to clarify I'm not soliciting anything, just thought it could be a good friendly tip from the perspective of a new viewer. Do with it what you will! Lol
compared to months earlier, wow, your tactical prowess is at totally different level now I feel. orders are so much more deliberate and clear. Wow, what a leader. Infantry pride!

You provide amazing bannerlord content. Im a bit dissapointed in Bannerlord SP myself but your video is a breath of fresh air regardibg the game. Keep it up man u deffo got my sub
This is my step by step strategic breakdown of the video
2:00 - weird charge for seemingly no reason, giving up high ground again and choosing to sacrifice it for the purpose of initiative and then at 2:10 - starting to regret it, and at 2:20 - a late order to pull back, giving up any initiative they got from the charge, 2:25 - they pushed you back because you allowed them
3:05 - another charge after having lost ground for nothing instead of waiting your turn and executing the curl mentioned before this moment first instead of second
3:10 - coalition pulls back because they know they are being slowly surrounded, this is a great strategic choice as they are in fact fighting up hill and know that their enemy will chase them, let's see if they can pull it off
3:20 - reforming is 100% not a mistake and saves them from over-committing their men
The battle was being lost by the coalition - if you are winning, let the enemy rout, though if you have no cavalry left - chase until enemy is broken
3:50 - another excellent move from the coalition in theory, and at 4:00 the execution is also really good as the ranks of BRE are swept away and slowed letting the rest of the coalition army take a more advantageous position and get a better lay of the upcoming battle line
4:30 - charging while having seen that the left and right flank are falling behind instead of trying to rotate the battle line to get your foot in the objective by falling back with the right flank and pushing forces onto the left and trying to push as hard as possible
4:50 - reaping what they have sown in the form of encirclement
6:00 - excellent choice from the coalition forces not to engage into the forested uphill position of the BRE and instead move and rotate the battle line to match the enemy at a level playing field
6:10 - coalition actually flanking an army entrenched in a forest is insane to me
6:35 - actually good charge to push the enemies out of the forest and flank that gives BRE forces enough room to breathe
7:30 - a series of great decisions leads to a great pushback
8:05 - coalition as always taking a very advantageous position and not letting BRE take meaningful initative. The BRE are fighting in disadvantageous terrain most of these battles and I dont know how fast the objective timer is, but the BRE forces seem to be over-eager to advance and charge in comparison with the more strategically lead coalition
8:20 - cavalry slowing BRE flank letting the coalition start to wrap the main battle line
8:40 - rare coalition failure letting the BRE exploit the overeager overextension
Overall pretty good, especially on a tactical level, maybe not on a strategic one
BTW this kind of gameplay is my little gamer dream come true but alas I have too little time in my life to participate

Loved watching this, reminding me of my warband line battle days. A couple of questions: 1) do any of your team mates use a steam deck to play? 2) have you tried a a 'Cannae' tactic of weak unit (archers) in the middle, strong on the wings and then flank using the pincer? the enemy feels the need to go after the weak unit and thats your opportunity.
I got to participate in my first BRE battle today. Enjoyed every bit of it! And got a few of those coalition men while I was at it 😉

You've gotten much better at commentating. It helps that you put your commentary in as an after action report now rather than trying to do it live
It would be cool to see more advanced formations. For example, some kind of wedge formation to help breaking through lines (also related to you speaking of you talking about pushing through the line at 4:35). If you can figure out simple instructions where the soldiers know where to move based on where they are in relation to the other soldiers, then various formations can basically form themselves. I guess this is already how it works to form line formations.

But as that mostly list special roles it might not be complete.
A probable strategy to employ in order to account for being flank guard is rather than double stacking lines you can double stack your flanks. Front line should be your stronger companions or ones that are solid in defence. If the centre is broken the reinforced flanks can fold inwards in a V to take the break into a poket. If your line is holding you can dispatch your reinforecd flanks to encapsulate the enemy by wrapping their flanks. Just my 2 centrs on how to accomplish this. I beleive it was Alexander the Great that employed this tactic.

When will you do massive sieges? Defenders 1 life, attackers 2/3 lives? Or 1 life each. Will need to balance for sure. Or make the player count heavy on attackers and 1 life only. Would be amazing!!!!!!!!

In terms of tactics, have you ever tried infantry charge in column? The theory behind it is that the deciding factor in an infantry charge is overwhelming force at the point of contact. A column sends all of the men in a unit to a single point, creating overwhelming force in that spot, allowing you to roll up the enemy. The men charging in column should probably have their swords out. One way to execute this tactic in battlefield conditions would be to advance to the enemy in line, like usual, but instead of charging them have the front rank hold up their shields and keep the enemy at a distance with their spears. Then the back rank would form up in a double file column on the right or left flank of your unit and charge with shields up and swords out. The front rank remains in place, just to keep the enemy occupied. In general, it would be cool to see more robust defensive tactics with proper shield and spear stand-fighting.
Aye I understand what you mean. And it’s certainly something we practice in training events.
It’s always hard to know when to use it.
Because we have a large line we are often the middle of the battle line.
If we do this and our attack fails the centre of the battle would be broken.
If we were nearer the flanks potentially I’d use it more often.
Not saying it wouldn’t work In the centre of the battle line. It’s really just judging how thick is the enemies centre also. If there are too many players it’ll fail.
If its even or less it will be devastating.

In historical battles where this tactic was used, the thinned line was used strictly defensively, possibly not even engaging at first, allowing the column to obliterate the enemies' flank. This tactic works well at a large scale, in real life. It does require good protection from enemy cav, though. I just would love to see historical tactics like this one actually used. It would be the culmination of all the work you guys have put into making these fights into proper battles.

I’d say it’s pretty heavy… but I know plenty of people who play on low graphics and seem to be fine!
There is a new patch coming out in a month or two which is meant to increase performance for All too!

I would love to gm watch a video or two from cavalry's perspective. It must be completely different and it's quite impossible to see what the cavalry is doing most of the time.
