Castle hill is about an hour away from where I live. I remember when I was about 8 we took a trip to see it and picnic there. I was gutted when I saw it, I didn't care for rocks, I was promised a castle. As an adult, I'm always amazed by those rocks lol
We have landed. We arrived yesterday in Blenheim. Wake-up to Christmas.. after lunch we will hit the road towards Kaikqura. Hello New Zealand, Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄.
One of your best roadies guys. Spectacular scenery and especially the drone footage over Castle Hill. Love the way you explore small towns with such enthusiasm.
Merry Christmas! Nice to see you exploring the small towns near where I live. We eat a lot of pies from Sheffield Pie Shop and in Darfield we also have a great bakery/pie shop. Love Castle Hill. The rocks are pretty amazing.
We loved Castle Hill... if you head further through Arthurs Pass be sure to stop at the Otira Hotel. The entire little town of Otira was bought by the man running the hotel and I promise, it will be the quirkiest place you'll ever see! As others said too, when you head south make sure to go to St Bathans.
Merry Christmas to you both. enjoy your summer Christmas here in NZ., iv only been down south once so im really liking your adventures. One thing you must do before you leave New Zealand, you must go to a warriors rugby league game an enjoy the atmosphere. UP DA WAHS 2024
I watch you guys alot & I hope you guys have a great Christmas in this beautiful country. Its great to see NZ from a different pair eyes & you guys make it fun to watch. All The Best to you & your family, & enjoy your rest of your stay
There is alot of history surrounding Arthur's pass and the amount of time it took to originally find the animal track that went through the southern Alps. For pies I would also suggest checking out the Darfield bakery, ferlie pie shop, U bake and the Wakefield bakery. Also take a look around kurow and omarara if your interested in the rock formations. St Bathans, Clyde, Cormwell and Alexandra also have really interesting history as does Timaru, Oamaru, Tekapo and the west coast. However, be mindful that from now (Christmas) until around the 8th of January many places do close over the break
We flew down a couple of years ago to Castle Hill and just loved it! Was there a pool at the back? This is just beautiful to walk in it to cool your feet off from all the walking .
You should get a small 12v fridge for your car, or at least a good chilly bin (cooler bin), which you could add bags of ice to. Most petrol stations sell bags of ice. The Warehouse has both fridges and chilly bins, some are quite cheap, too. Even without ice, a good chilly bin will give you much longer life for your cold foods. As for the hawk, definitely protecting a nest, and those walkers with the large kit were probably getting a lot of funny comments, so probably the joke had worn thin by the time you met them!😉
Hey guys.i love your vlogs a lot,you guys are charming as.i want to give you a little constructive suggestion.im sure there must be a way to edit your videos so that the sound volume stays consistent.this would make a big difference to watchability.keep sharing your wonderful cheerful vlogs.cant wait to see you enjoy queenstown, make you go to glenorchy.milford sound, the catlins and even stewart island would be a real highlight for you and us.safe travels
Hey there Merry Christmas! Thanks for watching and yeah your totally right the problem is there’s a lot of noise pollution sometimes and I edit it to increase the volume on spots were the volume may seem low or mado is to far away from the camera so I raise the volume on these areas so it may seem that the volume is up and down on parts of the video. The problem is if we use a mic and cut out the sound from our surroundings then we couldn’t speak to locals and hear there stories as mics wouldn’t pick up sound from a distance but We will consider mics while driving which would be ideal! So you don’t hear the car driving 🚗
Really enjoying hearing your impressions of NZ. When I was a boy the hot pools of Hanmer were naked bathing. The high content of sulphur in the water was said to rot the fabric of a swimming costume. There were 3 pools: children - women - men. The smell of sulphur permeated the town. A simpler time :-)
You should get yourself a medium size chilly bin and fill it with ice and that will be your frig, should last a good 2-3days before you need some more ice. Ice is readily available at all petrol stations. 40yrs ago That's how I used to chill all my perishables before modern day camp is today. But now I have everything including the kitchen sink and the loo, well I built myself an RV van with everything in it to travel around Australia. Next stop I'll probably move back to NZ and tour around the whole country with special attention on the South Island as I have not been there yet. Being a North Islander I've never really been that interested in the South Island until I watched your vlogs, must say it looks good. My next stop after OZ.👍🏽😎
Kārearea protecting nest. Treat the scar like your most precious tattoo. That bird is the most agile hunter bird. It's a honor to be scared by a Kārearea.
Yeah mate super cheap or try a place called repco they are both in town just ask them for a car fridge they just plug into you cigarette lighter in your car should help you out with keeping things cold good luck mate and keep on rocking dude
Glen while your in Dunedin you should go to a place called super cheap and you can buy a little car fridge that plugs into your cigarette lighter in your car they are about $80 and you can sell it again when you leave it will fit some milk and afew things in it like cheese 😂😂😂lol rock on brother
@@BIGREDPAGER that’s very strange shouldn’t of gotten deleted. Problem is when the car is switched off then it’s no use anymore lol. Had to think about that one! 😅
Run a live wire direct from the battery or fuse box. I'll work out how much power one wil draw overnight if you want to make sure you can still start your car in the morning. l
The pakeha introduced the possum and other Marcupial creatures that have dessimated this country fauna and flora along with European farming practices.
The killing of the moa was not an act of senseless slaughter like they did to the Buffalo in america the moa provided food and clothing for a people and their survival, and let's just be clear there was no such thing as sustainability back then or farming for that matter so if they knew then what we know now about farming im sure your moa would still be around and lastly the Hass eagle also had the moa on its menu that also added to the demise of your moa, so before you start cursing or cussing the maori because they killed off the moa get your facts straight first, cheers bro...

Haha...not a hawk but a kārearea. Native falcon. The F16 of nz birds protecting its young. Make sure you see the whole of the West Coast!
You learn something new everyday! So many birds in this country it’s overwhelming 🤣😅
All we have is birds and pests from Europe or Australia

We’re in New Zealand my friend :)
The drive from Christchurch to Queenstown is the best in New Zealand, you guys are going the wrong way
That yellow stuff is gorse a noxious weed brought ova by Europeans in the 1800s 😅
you guys have to do cave stream! very close to castle hill
oh wait just saw the preview lol!
Have watched some of these videos. Please don't call our hills mountains. Also Sheffield is after Darfield. Facts please !!!
The moa, a 12 foot tall bird must have been very tasty. The Maori hunted them to extinction for their meat and plumage.

I thought Mado was Vegetarian or Vegan??
Enjoyed the vid, awesome scenery - although the parking at ruclips.net/video/C7PZqmX5e5Q/видео.html is is a bit shocking
The Dalai Lama said Castle Hill was a "Spiritual Center of the Universe.".
It definitely feels that way my friend :)
