In Michigan I keep this established plant indoors West facing windowsill and It seems to sprout new branches and grow fast when I let it dry out completely!
A year ago, I bought one off Etsy and saw your video, mine didn’t grow for the entire year while it was by north facing window. Then I moved and took it to a south facing window, three ago it grew crazy and even had those little tentacles, I came back to your video and give it some support to wrap on. Today, I’m back to your video again gonna try propagate some more. I just love this plant so much, so simple, green, and cute. Thanks for your video, literally I learn something new every time I come back to this video! Thank you thank you! ❤
Mine rooted in one week. In clear plastic container: perlite 3cm high, water 0.5 - 1 cm Closed the lid, medium light, open the lid twice a week for few mins
Thank you so much for the video! I now know why my Xerosicyos has been in stasis for most of this year - I was following the wrong care information. I hope moving it into more sunlight will help it to actually grow.
Sean videos are "bad" influences. First, propagation, then say sorry to plants. And now I am hooked on those cute little transparent pots. Oh, I miss the opening "I like to nerd out" 😅
just wanna say thank you for all your work in making your videos :) they’re very comforting to me after a long day. i love your spirit! much love from california
Those stringy grabbers are called tendrils. Their SOLE purspuse is for grabbing and clinging on to the the plants it attatches itself to. This plant is actually in the cucumber family and when grown from SEED, it will develop a slight caudex at the base of the stem. There is a male plant and a female plant in this species. ❤
thank you so much. I just got one (I bought from a person on FB) but the old owner did not know the name. I also live in a hot climate state so I was not sure if it required sun or not. I get lots of Sun here so I'll put it outside. Can't wait.
Love this plant, so unique, my one attempt at it died on me but maybe I'll give it another shot down the line. There wasn't much content talking about it when I first got it!
the new growth looks so adorable, and I love watching how it gets bigger 💚 Had no idea it could actually take full sun, gonna definitely acclimate mine to that now ☺
Yees! So happy to see this video. I have this plant but haven't found much in depth information about ut. Also don't know anyone who has one lol. Thanks from Sweden ✌🏼
i love this plant but haven’t been successful in propagation sadly :/ they just rot haha i tried water propagation as well and it was a terrible idea. i will try again and put them in direct sunlight with the proper potting mix thank you very much for this video!
Beautiful plant I have my outside in bright shade but I see yours growing in full sun I place mine in direct sun maybe start growing better, thanks for sharing!!!
Aaargh ! Now I’m tempted to buy ! I’m glad it’s not a plant that requires bright indirect light ! Oh ! And I suspect I’ll be saying “snip” every time I snip !
Thanks for this video. It's really helpful. I have a question, if I may. My plant sprouts new shoots quite willingly, but then they die off: the ends turn brown and dry and just die. I water it once a week in the summer. It sits on a dresser by a south-west facing window, about 50cm from it.
It might be getting too little water depending on your growing substrate and pot type. I water mine every day but it is in terracotta pot and very rocky/sandy medium. So it dies up completely within hours.
I really love this plant but couldn’t find it in my area so I bought seeds, they are still tiny babies but it’s so cool to see them grow ! 😊 it’s gonna take a long time to look like yours though ! 😅
@@ren09rn What I’m really curious about is I heard they grow a caudex when grown from seed whereas it won’t from a cutting 🤔 I have no idea how the seeds grow though, I suppose this is also a learning experience to grow this one ☺️
@@clemencev7162 Oh, I've recently repotted my massive one and none of the divisions have a caudex so if that's the case, I suppose they're all from cuttings. 😅
Hi, I bought this plant online 2 years ago. I love it but it doesn't grow. The new leaves dried out and now some of the oldest leaves turn to yellow and fall. They are not so thick and hard. What can I do??? I don't watering too much and don't put in to direct sun.. I just put it outside. Thank you
hope you can make a vlog about the autograph plant/tree Clusia rosea. I have had it for 1 year now but it has never been healthy looking, I'm quite surprised that it is still alive. I can't find any care tips from southeast Asian's perspective. I'm giving it direct light ever since but it just doesn't thrive.
@@onlyplants the plain one is very affordable here in PH but the variegated type is like $10 to $20 for a small specimen. I got big expectations when i got it seeing the trees on Google haha. I got a tiny one from Thailand but im already thinking about the scribbles ill make on its leaves 🤣 planning to let friends scribble on it too lol. Hope you get one soon 💚
I just bought one but Im in central California where its 100 degrees F about 7 months out of the year. Can I put this next to my super bright light west facing window (indoors of course) when its 106 outside? that's what I'm afraid of, it'll get full sun but its hot and dry. :/
I have one as well. It was in a bright area before then moved it to a full sun area then it got burnt :( I moved it now to its original location & ita been there for a few months now but not looking very healthy :( not sure what to do now..any suggestions pls?
Maybe move it slowly too full sun, letting it acclimatize over a period of time? They do grow way faster with more light. But if its happy in a bright area, maybe consider keeping it there 😀
@@onlyplants thanks so much 🥰 I think I did shock it when I moved it to the full sun area hence the burn. Ill dig it out, put in a pot & relocated it to a brighter area. I've placed my propagation in a sunny area as well, no wonder they were growing so painfully slow 😅 thanks so much for all your tips 🙏
I've moved my silver dollar to a much sunnier spot couple of months ago as per your suggestion and I can't thankyou enough. My silver dollar has put some new growth and they're growing fast. So so happy 😊
This video was right in time. I just repotted my mine today and you are correct, it only started growing when I gave it full sun outside, or put it directly under a grow lamp. We’re in fall here in the states; what is the coldest temperature it can stand?

Nice! They love that strong west light 😀

Very cool plant! Reminds me alot of the peperomia hope.
Yes it reminded me of one too
Finally! This is the video I’ve been searching endlessly for. Thank you for documenting your entire journey. It’s so rewarding to see the progress ☺️
I was hoping someone made this video too lol I was so lost 2 years ago
Thanks Sean! Interesting observations about the longevity of one- and two node cuttings.

Will try sometime! I have a feeling this set up is great for many other plants too
I always get success with perlite too. Never got root rot.
Good morning to you vary nice plants thank for sharing beautiful and amazing plants lovely

Update: After 2 months of following your care information it has put out three new shoots! I cannot thank you enough for this video!

I would slowly give them more and more light until you give it direct light. I have a feeling its a light issue.

Hi..i dont what is the best soil for Dollar Coin..
Cactii succulent mix. They love it fast drying. But keep in mind they can be very thirsty when in full sun and when they get big

Im not sure about temperature as I live in the tropics. But judging from its natural habitat probably can take a bit of cold but not minus 0 degrees.
@@onlyplants Thanks!
Where do you get your clear propagation cups from?! I want to try this!
I got it online, locally its a marketplace called tokopedia but it cannot ship internationally 🙉
💚
I pay a lot for mine I love this plant so I want to propagate her to have a lotttt 🤣
