- The crossbar lock is one of my favorite locking mechanisms for knives so why not go through my top 5.

So largely you are correct about the bugout (and to a lesser extent the deka) - it is always a battle between blade play and smooth action - but one thing that can really help that is polishing the washers. I use a grit progression of 6, 3 and 1 micron diamond pastes on a piece of rough cardboard (the more fibrous feeling stuff) or on a leather strop. 30 seconds on each side of each washer on 6 then 3 and so on. This will allow your knife to be run much tighter while still dropping when you pull back the bar. You can also polish the contact surfaces on the mini steel liners too. My bugout can - with the correct pivot tension - run with drop shut action and zero blade play, it is still somewhat finnicky to get it right but works much better than stock.
Another thing that I am intending to try is buying some larger diameter washers, which can also improve side to side stability. You can get ones that are much similar to the size of the washers in the deka (same thickness just bigger) and that is supposed to help a lot which makes sense to me seeing as the deka has larger washers and is much easier to tune out the blade play while retaining good action than the bugout is
When I have a little extra money Ive been looking into getting a diamond paste but I just dont know a lot about that side of things just yet. Do you have a brand you prefer over others?
Looks it up on “kneevs knives” (sp?)channel here on YT. He knows alot about this stuff & he has a favorite brand. I’ve seen it on Amazon. Just can’t remember what it’s called. Middle of the rd on price. Not too bad. He claims it’s a lot better than the stuff in the blocks. For everything. Comes in Little white bottles & its pink I think..

I want to add that the jimping on knives also depends of the designers. I have three knives that are designed by Azo at Kizer and the Drop bear is one of them. All have the same kind of jimping.

Ur 💯 right about the pivot it has to be loose to be flipy on a axis type lock liner lock tou can get better..ive never heard a reviewer talk about this before good job 😊

I'm finally breaking down and purchasing a Vosteed Raccoon because of this video. I'm sick of hearing about how good it is without knowing for myself.
The one I like the most so far is the carbon fiber one with the orange thumb studs! It reminds me of Halloween but they have a lot of variations.

All good knives imo . One crossbar I really like a lot is a cmb predator . It’s kinda shamanish or like the hogue sig . So my magnacut hogue is a crap magnacut blade , so soft
I almost bought cmb predator a while back but didn’t. I still want to check one out.
@@Knife_Life_EDC86 of all the knives out there around that price it’s an easy favorite , even over the civivi s . Atlantic knife had them the cheapest but the stonewashed blade I think looks best with green micarta . It’s sweet because the heavier than usual blade swings closed and opens so good , kinda like a shaman .
Hey. Liked & subscribed. Looking to get 1st access lock ,bar lock or whatever. Like the clip on the bugout. Short and stout. I have been on a bad run of loosing knives because of bad pocket clips. Cool knives. I want one I’m not going to loose immediately 1st & foremost. Tritium. That’s cool. eBay has all sizes & colors of tritium viles for sale. Could add them to anything. Didn’t think about knives. Thx
Yea sounds like a rough streak with knives for ya. I do like like the smaller pocket clips normally if it fits the knife right. If the knife is bigger then it may cause problems when it comes to the clip but the Bugout is a good one overall in my opinion. And thanks for the like and subscribe.

I really liked the Drop Bear , and carried it quite a bit , until ... I got the Escort . I still prefer the Drop Bear's spear point blade shape , but I always wished it was .3" to .5" longer (Vosteed Racoon , anyone ?) , and the Escort' jimping gives me grip options that few knives can match . Great list . Waiting on my first Kunwu , the Padre .
I have been wanting to check out one of the escorts. I’ve heard they’re pretty good. I’m wanting to get a Kunwu padre but can’t find one anywhere. Where did you find yours at?
