Thank you for breaking down how amazing Rhea Seehorn's acting is, Kim in that scene is such a perfect encapsulation of how incredibly nuanced and spectacular she is. Her mastery of micro expressions and ability to convey so much in her face and body blows me away. As always, absolutely love your reactions and how much you get this show, it's always a delight to watch.
you should check out ological's breakdown of these episodes. one of the coolest thing he talks about is the symbolism behind the twins. the breaking bad and better call saul universe teaches us over and over that there is no perfect relationship. walt and jesse, walt and skyler, jimmy and kim. all duo's go through issues. there is only one group that doesnt have this issue and its the twins. just to symbolise that they are inhumane. where human relationships are flawed, their relationship isnt. they are in constant synchronisation and the perfect pair.
I've been looking forward to your reaction and commentary on this episode for a bit. I'm currently stuck in hospital awaiting surgery asap and I am very thankful for the distraction and entertainment. Thank you. Love your work.
This is widely considered one of the best episodes of the series. I like it a lot, myself. It's capturing the sort of bottle episode energy of Fly in Breaking Bad, but more dynamic and at a time when we really need to firm up Saul's relationship with Mike. Still, it only works with the track we have lain before, and it only matters in the context that will come after. Also, love the glasses, Tyler. Very Neo
Marco's the sloppy one ever since Héctor dunked his head in water way back then... that's an interesting call forward as he also drops the bullet with which Hank finished him off.
Even the color choices of the glow sticks when Mike and Jimmy talk at night are significant. This show truly cares so much about the tiny details in a way that I’ve seen few shows do. And so do you, Tyler, so thank you for everything you do!
They hinted at it in season 2 but Mike was in Vietnam and was a sniper since he knew about the rifle and why it shouldn't be in a jungle. So after Vietnam he became a cop which explains how he learned all his skills.
I know this episode is mostly just Saul and Mike in the desert, but I appreciate the call to attention of Rhea Seehorn's performance. They keep giving her bigger scenes to do and she keeps giving an A+ performance. Way back in season 1 they hadn't yet conceived of the show centering around a Jimmy/Kim relationship, but just like how Aaron Paul convinced the writers through his performance that Jesse should have a bigger role in Breaking Bad, the same came true for Rhea. In so many ways, she carries this show as Kim Wexler.
Rhea Seehorn is so good as Kim and some of her best work is still to come. Her brilliance is almost subtle but it’s 1 of the better acting jobs in recent memory IMO and yes I’m still upset she didn’t win an Emmy lol
“I understand it’s a prequel and he’s safe, but….” This show is incredible for how effortlessly it can make the viewer feel that. Also, it’s not a spoiler to say if you think Rhea is awesome now, she gets even better.
I watched this show with my mom, she hadn’t seen breaking bad at the time. She doesn’t watch any episodic TV other than Days of our lives. This is her favorite episode of the show, which I find interesting. For me it’s up there, but I’m surprised she liked it so much
That monologue Mike has feels so indicative of his character, and where his morality ultimately lies. Of course Mike only goes on to become more cold-blooded as time goes on, which I have a lot of thoughts on and how it reflects the real truth in his character, but no matter how murderous and awful he becomes and is, unlike Walt, at the end of the day Mike is comfortable knowing that he tried. That doesn’t mean that he didn’t get caught up in his own luck, and he ultimately pays for that when his money is taken, but there is still an extra layer to Mike that does separate him from the rest, even if it’s only slightly.
"The alternator is shot" the cars in this show represent the characters, and Jimmy is having a tough time alternating between Jimmy and Saul. Other images that portray this is that Jimmy's coffee mug is shot, and the Esteem has to be discarded
The end of Chucks Space Blanket
Vince Gilligan has stated that this was the hardest episode for him to direct

0:44 Fun fact: that twin is the one that drops the bullet that hank uses to kill him in breaking bad

I find it odd that you missed the part about Jimmy not wanting the "space blanket" from Mike because it probably reminds him of Chuck.
Truly elite TV making. Subbed for more. Love this show
The sunglasses were oddly appropriate
Man the stuff Mike went through to get murdered by a stubborn nerd

My favourite episode of the entire series. Thanks for the review! 👍🏿

That's the crazy thing about Rhea Seahorn. Where the hell has she been up until BCS? She is so amazing.
First time I saw this episode I had such a feeling of dread when Kim goes to see Lalo ugh lol
Reacting to a whole episode of a tv show in 2024 is crazy work
Really great episode and end of season. The next one is my favorite.
A good TV show, yet the Emmy Awards somehow petty enough to not give it any trophy.
Next ep is one of my favourites. I'm looking forward to your analysis on it.

speaking of twins!! LOL 😆 LOVE the shadow. GREAT REACTION... AS ALWAYS!!!❤
The glasses are working.
