To anyone who thinks this performane is too 'aggressive': you do realise roxie shot a man? If that's not aggressive please someone tell me what is!

She’s perfect as Roxie, the way that she acts out the song and shows how much fame has gone to Roxie’s head and made her act like a big star. Absolutely perfect!

Ann Reinking was without a doubt the master of this character. Every move, dance and note wise came from Ann's choreography. I can't believe no one else has mentioned that.

To be fair and give credit where credit is due...
Reinking is classically trained as a ballerina and worked as a professional dancer and choreographer for many years before choreographing and headlining the Broadway revival of Chicago. Not to mention how she dated Fosse, and has been credited as a major inspiration in reviving his style of dance.
It's a little unfair to expect other actresses to get anywhere near her level of dance performance, though Henshall, Zimeba, Neuwirth, and countless others have done their damned best at it.

I freaking love Ruthie Henshall and would pay to watch her sing the phone book but yes for me, Ann Reinking will always be Roxie. I was lucky enough to see her and Bebe Neuwirth in the Chicago revival and it was amazing

Amazing talented lady, so privilaged to have seen her perform in Chicago as Roxie, she really drew me in with her portrayal. I really empathised with her Roxie, unlike others I've seen. She really bought something different to the character.

I love this! Unfortunately I have never been able to see her in anything, and won't be any time soon, but I am hopefully going to see Chicago in the west End this summer and I really hope whoever it is playing Roxie will be somewhere near Ruthie's standard. She's great! She really makes this song her own and performed it wonderfully.

@TheSelfEspresso no not really, I'm not sure which I prefer. I think who she's performing with can make a lot of difference because I think Roxie always has to have a slightly more innocent front than Velma so it depends how fiercely Velma is being portrayed to see how fierce Roxie should be. x

이사람 커버가 제일좋음 록시가 너무 유혹적 례쁘고 교태부리는 것처럼 그려지는게 싫었는데 이분은 진짜 흥이 있고 약간 강한 느낌이 나서 좋음

I wasn't really "bowled over" by her interpretation. I'm aware that in "Chicago", there is some variation allowed in dance numbers. She's talented and all, but I much rather prefer how other ladies do "Roxie."

As usual - Ruthie Henshall is amazing and makes all the correct artistic choices with her voice and her body.
Yet something doesn't fit... You'd expect Roxie to have a less raspy voice wouldn't you?

she is without a doubt butchering the character of Roxie. This is a musical, not a wolf growling at a Metallica concert. She is awful. This makes me think that I could become a singer. All i would have to do is growl a little and howl a little and strut my legs around. This is ridiculously sad. I can't comprehend how she has fans. I have obviously failed to see something.
