I also live by the hills in SD and own a Raptor 700. Just curious, why didn't you run it a few times to clean out the water jackets on the cylinder? Supposedly Engine Ice and regular coolant gels up when mixed. Have you had any issues since this video?
Nice man! And after flushing it out I did fill it up with water and run the engine for a minute.. after rewatching the video I must've left that part out, sorry. I did the same with my Daytona. I haven't had any problems running Engine Ice. Thanks for commenting, I'll pin this so others see.
Sorry that my comment is a year later but, you mean it's recommended to run the quad a couple times with soft water before the addition of coolant, is this right? Sorry I just want to make sure I do this right. Thank you!
@@EduardoRamirez-ny6fw yes fill with distilled water not soft water an run the quad a few min just idling etc to get coolant out of cylinder jackets. Thats why I would use OEM coolant so if mixes its ok. Ur not a pro racer. OEM is great. Use full synthetic oil too only. Any motorcycle specific engine oil brand. Mobil 1 /maxima/ yamalube
Nice straight fwd tips / process 👌. Keep it up!
Thank you! I have 2007 YFZ 450, but no one has a good video of a coolant flush. Your video demonstrated how to properly do one, and I can apply the same procedures to my 450!
I just flush my coolant first time since 2008. Worked out good. Nice video
thanks man u made it look easy
Love your quad
Thanks for teaching me how to do this my man, much appreciated!
Just got an 2009 Raptor 700... it doesn’t look as mean as the 2012’s and up but man it’s my dream quad and that’s all that matters... thanks for the vid!
I bought a 2009 too! I just love it
Take good care of it!
I noticed on your most popular video you said you lived in South Dakota and i was surprised because I lived there too. I knew I noticed some of the places your drove by!
Yea me too!
Western Ohio!
Oh ok thank you so much!!
can you add distilled water to the reservoir tank if its low? mines just under the low line. mine is a 2020 and got about 35 hours on it now. just started noticing it getting low each weekend. I'm guessing it finally got the air pockets out... just wondering if i can add distilled water to the resovoir around the full line or just in between? and another question, should i check the rad cap? will i put air in the system by checking it there? and if so, should i top it off with distilled water there also or just do the reservoir? thank you!
This guys like the crisfix of raptor 700’s
Good afternoon.
What model and where can I buy a tachometer to tune my raptor 700's idle
So I just got a raptor and the dealer filled it up to the low mark and that's it I was wondering if I can just add some coolant without needing to drain?
Yo how did u get the bleed bolt out w that wrench it wouldn't fit in there???
Where does the bottom house on the reservoir go to? Or does it go to anything?
Thanks Great video !!! but is that a Gallon or a 1/2??
What brand is that mirror you have mounted on the handlebar?
Do I need to rinse it ?
Had my 06 raptor engine running and coolant reservoir burst due to overheating. What should I do
Engine ice is the best I use it in all my dirt bikes and atvs
Use yamalube coolant as recommended by the owners manual
What’s the purpose of the over flow tank?????
Hey bro, what's the ratio between coolant and water
How much did you put in for the Main one
Was curious if I can mix the stock coolant (green) with yamalube that I grabbed? Idk if you can mix different colored coolants. Any help appreciated.
You can mix them as long as they have the same type of glycol. But the color will turn a nasty brown if you mix green and red... works just fine just looks bad
@Rj Cherk Everything has been fine thus far. I was also hesitant but talked to a mechanic and he said it doesn't matter. So far so good
ijust bought a 2008 mtx 450 sport and i've noticed that the engine heats up withing about 5 min, enough heat that i have to move my leg or shut her down. any suggestions on how to keep it from overheating? thanks, and love your videos.
Engine ice is an Coolant that cools A few degrees cooler than most coolants.
Thats A start.
Also heat tape around gastank and stuff
Il a rempli à jusqu’à rabord son radiateur ?
Hey there I’m just asking a question how long do it take for your machine to get hot when your riding?
What do you mean hot? It shouldn't ever overheat
Do a clutch cable adjustment video!!!
Literally just ordered a new clutch lever yesterday, I'll upload a quick video soon!
Hello, can I use cars coolant ready to use without mix it with water?
No you need to mix the coolant so it's half coolant and half distilled water
Can I also add new coolant to my tank witch has older coolant in it? The tank is almost at the low mark but I dont have enough new coolant to replace all of it
Yes that's completely fine to do
Can we use the coolant you used on any quad without messing up the engine and stuff
Yes. Just flush your system with distilled water first
Hey posh I have a questing I have a yfz 450 and the resoviour doesn’t seem to wast it’s been at the full and I’ve been riding it for mont hs
That's the way it should be! Your engine just recycles coolant, the coolant level may vary a little bit in your overflow tank but it should always stay at about the same level
On the coolant overflow tank, where does the top hose connect to? I pulled it and I can’t see where it reattaches.
Right below the black rubber cap on the tank, on the back side. (Towards the front of the quad)
Should have specified, I meant from the tank where does it go? Does it attach up near the radiator or is it just a purge hose.
I'm 99% positive that is your coolant overflow tube. It doesnt go anywhere important. I cant remember where mine is routed.. I think mine is routed where the gas tank overflow line is
the coolant you changed was mint already bud. on a car, coolant is usually at least 60,ooo miles. On a quad, it's probably 30,000 at least. Be careful not to void warranty with a non oem product. Some companies are like that also, not sure on Yamaha.
It probably was totally fine yes. But theres no harm in keeping fresh fluids in it, and btw... warranty on there is a pitiful 6 months 😂 Its long gone
Hey been watching your videos got a question: just got a ‘19 700 the other day. I rode it for about 15 mins. Today I notice the reservoir tank is just above “low”, the coolant almost touches the top of the “o” in Low... maybe the dealership figured that was fine? My question is, is that okay or just I add some distilled water or coolant to make the level halfway between low and full? Thank you!
Thanks for watching man. After you've been riding it tends to suck more coolant into the engine (I've noticed mine does the same thing)... it's pretty normal for your coolant level to change a bit. When I did my coolant change I just added a touch more. You're okay to do that too either with distilled water or coolant. I thought the same thing as you when I got mine
MotoPosh Thanks for the quick reply! Subscribed
@@eric89q did you end up adding water or coolant? Also if you did what kind did you use? My 19 is doing the same thing but I have about 15 hours on it
ImVaiiderr hey, so I added yamacool to it (my machine has green coolant, the manual say add yamacool so that’s what I did and it’s blue, the dealership said it’s fine.) I put it so it’s just above half between low and full and it’s been staying there and I have 2 hrs on it. From what I’ve been told from a few ppl, it’s brand new so fluid needs to go through it; and if it’s cold it may look low when you ride it may fill up a tiny bit as this is a “reservoir “tank. I even went to 2 diff dealers and looked at their raptors and they’re all close to “low” marker. Hope everything works out for you.
@@eric89q awesome, thank you for the info I appreciate it
I forgot to remove the bleed bolt is this bad
HOW CAN I TUNE THE RAPTOR 700R INTAKE WELL - IT HAS A LEFT SIDE SCREW THAT IS FROM THE AIR.
AS THE TUNE
????
Good afternoon.
What model and where can I buy a tachometer to tune my raptor 700's idle
Any major process differences for the raptor 660, or pretty much the same?
I believe they're pretty much the same machine. The process is the same yes
@@Motoposh thank you sir!
Nice video..the manual says “remove air bleeder bolt” how can you insure you are getting correct air out when you said to only
loosen and not remove the bolt ?
Depends how fast you add coolant. I added very slowly so I didnt remove bolt completely, just loosened a good bit. But you can remove the bolt of course.. it can get a little messy when you add your coolant though if you dont watch it close. Leaving the bolt in less coolant bleeds out when it's full
MotoPosh yea def less of a mess leaving it in just want to ensure all air is out. How critical is it to run the engine with water before adding new coolant. Any risk running only distilled water in the engine ? Thanks
No risk. I would definitely recommend running it for like 10 minutes sitting there until the thermostat opens and starts circulating coolant. Make 100% sure you use distilled water. This is the way to truly "flush" the system.
MotoPosh thanks
MotoPosh Thanks for all the replies
What if you don’t have city water and your house just has well water so basically a septic not city water can I use that water?
That's even worse. Well water is full of minerals that will leave deposits all throughout your system. I would advise you not to use well water
Did that jug do it all
Hi, you know what the screw is called to drain the cooling system, I lost it
Dumbass part# idiot
Just replace it with a pan head hex screw of Stainless or Zinc plated. Brass or copper washer. Make sure its about the same length and obviously thread type 👍🏼 to find size M6 screw = 6*1.5+1=10mm spanner. Its probably an M6.
We’re does the tube on the top of the reserve tank go
Down the steering column. It's just a vent tube, it doesn't connect anywhere
Should use Evan's coolant, never boil over and is good for life of machine. Google it check it out
I'll check it out... From reading a quick minute it looks like pretty good stuff!
Why should I replace the coolant on my raptor ? And how often ?
Because coolant degrades over time and becomes less efficient in your machine. Every 2-3 years
Does the coolant help the exhaust pipe not get got
No, it's meant to keep the engine from overheating
What coolant is best to use I have a 06 raptor 700r
Engine Ice or just some standard 50/50 ethylene glycol to water coolant is fine. Coolant is coolant, the differences between them aren't much
Yamalube
What tires are you using?
Duro Scorchers
Can I use well water to clean the thingy?
Well water would be about the worst you could use because of all the deposits in the water. Definitely would recommend you get some distilled water
@@Motoposh ok thank you👍
How often do you need to change coolant?
Every couple years. Engine ice degrades faster than traditional coolant but I still only change it every 2 years
@@Motoposh ok thx!
Where can I get the water
Walmart
Can we use bottle water ?
No
Can you just add Coolant instead of draining it and refilling it
A healthy engine does not use coolant. Shouldn't have to add coolant ever
I have 2020 raptor 700 r , so I shouldn’t change the coolant
You need to drain the old and replace with new every couple years
@@Motoposh i feel like there is something wrong with mine but i don’t know it’s a 2020 but someone else owned it
Always replace crush washers 🤦♂️
Fuck I wish the raptor was air cooled and call it a day
I’m not really an expert sorry
