While what he said was certainly both obvious and completely condemning of Sarah Palin, I find it fascinating that he didn't even need to mention anything at all about the kinds of policies she was liable to back, lol. We dodged a serious bullet in that election. I like Matt Damon. I met him while studying at UNLV when he was filming Ocean's Eleven. He seemed intelligent and is a genuine person, he didn't seem like a typical celebrity who felt he was above anyone else. He said he was more lucky than gifted. Unfortunately, Matt got sucked into the Hope & Change Obama campaign; so much so, he actually mobilized volunteers across the country to get Obama elected. Sarah Palin became the enemy. I admire Matt's passion and I would die to protect his right to say whatever he wants to, but I have actually met Sarah Palin and she isn't just a hockey Mom from Alaska, she was the Governor of Alaska. This was a talking point to get his candidate elected. Now, he is embarrassed that he was duped as many Americans are. Celebrity is a high currency and Matt used his on this campaign. I believe in many things he has gone on record politically, like education reform. WI could never hate someone like Matt for believing in Hope and Change, what American does not want Hope and Change? I think next election round we should ask ourselves what kind of change and what are you hoping for before we put a candidate, whatever party, in the White House. Sarah improved the lives of Alaskans and would have tried to improve the lives of all Americans. What exactly is scary about that? Yes, there were still problems in Alaska when she left the Governor's office. How has your life changed since Obama was in the White House? Is it better, worse, indifferent? I think we should stop fighting each other politically, whatever camp you are in, stop following political rhetoric, learn everything you can about a candidate and form your own opinion. Not based on what they will give you, but if they can make an environment better for you to be all that you want to be, not just give you what they think you will take for their vote. Look around and ask yourself, are you happy where you are? If Matt would have been more open minded at the time, he could have learned more about Sarah Palin than he ever would have learned about Obama. There has never been a Presidential candidate less vetted than he. Hopefully we all learned something by all of this election. That no matter who gets in, government will never be the answer to our problems. That there is no perfect society no matter how well a country's economy is doing, someone will always have the least amount of money. That we Americans are not victims and we do not need the government to protect us from the enemies they made us believe we have. That we should not hate people because they disagree with us. That our votes are worth more than any government handout. That each individual should have the right to be who they can be, even Hockey Mom's from Alaska. The Matt I met, would not say these things, I guess we all got caught up in the hype. Hangovers suck.
Matt Damon is an entertainer not an expert on U.S. history/politics/political science or constitutional law. He does not know the ins and outs of how things work so he really doesn't know why President Obama makes the decisions he does. Hollywood actor Matt Damon said President Obama is being bullied, and the American public should give him a little leeway - he’s only trying to bolster his manhood.
Mr. Obama is being unfairly pressured into making unpopular political decision - and he’s struggling, especially since he doesn’t have a military background, Mr. Damon said, the New Republic reported.
Some of Mr. Obama’s recent challenges: Obamacare and the Edward Snowden spy scandal, Mr. Damon said.
But he’s not to blame - and the American public should cut him some slack, the actor said, the New Republic reported.
Mr. Damon said in the Guardian Weekend magazine: “It just seems to have taken this weird, Orewellian turn. It’s surreal. I don’t know where we are now … I think it’s tough for guys who weren’t in the military. One, their manhood is kind of challenged on some level, I imagine, and they allow themselves to get bullied. And two, they’re just politically afraid of either looking soft or looking incompetent, so they overcompensate.”
