    The thing is. This doesn't work a lot of applications regarding healthcare settings, despite that's what it was supposedly originally used for.
    Sure, we (yes, I work in a hospital) can use it on patients with dementia or are experiencing psychosis, but a big reason we go hands-on in the first place is to obtain blood draws or place IVs for patients that are either on a legal or medical hold, or "lack mental capacity" and aren't allowed to leave because their caretakers gave approval to keep them there. And there needs to be access to a vein in order to do so.
    How do we have access to the AC vein when the person is stuck in this gift wrap position? (yes, I train BJJ too) the arm has to be fully extended in order for an RN or lab tech to get a good insertion, thich will require a third person to control that arm regardless. So while this might work with police, it is no better than just laying a patient supine and extending their arms while the lower body is being controlled.
    The BJJ community is not happy with this dude trying to copyright a basic gift wrap and leg lace. He might be a Gracie, but that still doesn't give him any right to do so.

      Yes, you are correct, however; it is the combination of 2 pinning holds, the method of instruction, and the law enforcement application, that make the system unique and revolutionary, add to the equation the pretty scientific words, The Gracie BJJ name, and the testimonials after people try to get out of hold, and it makes it something unique, it is more than a gift wrap hold or a figure 4 leg lace, it is a combination of the other things.

      You mean they will be required to learn the simple technique that has already been taught effectively to other law enforcement agencies and is used quite often already?

      @@concernedcitizen5971 I've trained in various martial arts since I was a child. I've never had to handcuff anyone but I see how the technique is being applied and why it's effective.
      Can you squirm and make life difficult for the arresting officer? Sure. But to pretend that this technique isn't as good as some untrained cop trying to hold someone's arms by mere force is asinine. It's being a contrarian for the sake of it without extrapolating why this will work in most cases of an unruly criminal.
      Or we can just tell them to shoot anyone who struggles because that's the only real solution to handcuffing someone 100% of the time when they don't want to be.

    • @concernedcitizen5971
      @concernedcitizen5971 Месяц назад +1

      @@illuminahde Being a martial artist since a kid can mean very little just look at this guy’s family the Gracie’s made fools of similar people who trained their whole lives also and were found to be lacking.
      A lot of people cook for themselves anmd their family every day that doesn’t mean they are chefs or even decent cooks.
      Unless you are in their shoes I think you should reserve your opinion, Ive always found it funny that cops are always getting criticized by people who feel like they could do it better or know better and they make these statements from a self entitled sense of moral superiority. But yet you don’t really see that in other professions. People don’t go into an operating room and pretend to know better than the doctor or in the court room and pretend to know better than a lawyer which is the very reason you pay these people when you need a Dr. or a lawyer. And don’t try and pull at peoples emotions and make the leap from someone struggling and automatically being shot because not even the statistics are on your side with that one. Try harder next time instead of virtue signaling.

      @@concernedcitizen5971 My uncle is a sheriff. My cousin is the police chief in Lake Charles, LA. I have multiple family members that are police and have been on several ride alongs.
      I think it's funny that police like to pretend that they are somehow special when it comes to restraining someone. I've seen the technicques they use IRL fail because of their pathetic understanding of how the human body works.
      Yes. You absolutely see change in every profession. Especially the medical field. They change how they do things constantly. It wouldn't matter if a child came up with the idea, they would accept it.
      Now I know you're little ego is hurt but normal officer training is pathetic. The fact that you think you can handle yourself without pulling you weapon means you're actually dangerous. This is why women are more likely to taser a suspect as well.
      What's sad is how you think controlling people who don't want to be controlled is somehow strictly a police thing.
      You're condescending and uninformed about your opinion.
