What a great man and interview. I cut Lothar Stahlbergs (Datsun 510) grass as a boy and am so familiar with sedan racing because of it. It and Can Am and Endurance racing of the day were the best its ever been.
While some "might" be more familiar with Carroll Shelby...I've always felt that 2 of the most underrated men that have impacted the automotive racing world more/differently are Dan Durney and obviously Peter Brock... Fantastic Upload!
Awesome interview. I love Mr. Brock and his work. I hope he writes his stories in a book maybe even his biography but it might be couple of volumes. The life he lives is astonishing and inspiring.
I was married in 1970 and in the classic sacrifice I traded my 68 GTO on a 71 Datsun 510 2 door. optioned ac, a must here in SC and a tach. Never was sorry; I loved driving that little car. A lot of car for the money. Peter Brock quickly became my hero. Check out 510s on line occasionally and nice ones are bringing a good price.
I had never even heard about Datsun 510s until I came to America in '80, we had a different line of Datsun sedans [saloons] in Jamaica and of course the 240Z. Shortly after my cousin bought a 510 I heard about BRE racing but not Peter Brock, and now to find out that he built so many other race cars and was such a prolific creator of other things is quite a pleasant, interesting surprise! Nice interview!
I met Pete Brock a few years ago at the Solvang Roadster Classic Show . He had recently opened his BRE Shop in Henderson. He was a fantastic guy to talk to. As a Datsun guy it was like meeting our guru. 😉🏆 Pete helped to legitimize Datsun here in the United States. In order to do that you had to win. And that he did.
I have always been a fan of Mr. Brock’s work even before I knew who he was, from my best HO slot car which was a Cobra Daytona coupe to my car trailer that uses the best ideas I could apply from the aerovault.
Please publish the entire interview. Better yet bring him along to my house for dinner. I will invite 200 of my closest friends. You can continue the conversation at your leisure

Saw Pete give an exceptional talk at the Datsun NW gathering in 2019. He and Gail are wonderful people!
