Wow! A WTA player with a single-handed backhand!! And young Diane Parry's got a fabulous game, too. Like others have said, any player (especially female as it's so rare to see) with a single-handed backhand has my backing. 100%. Well done, Miss Parry.
No, I don' t think it is a surprise, Krejcikova has not played a match for almost 3 months, she has not played a single clay court event leading up to the defense of this title. I am surprised that she did not even play the Strasbourg event just to get at least some feel for tournament play.
top 10 players out in R1: Kontaveit, Jabeur, Muguruza, Krejcikova and 4 still to play. I can't remember a more inconsistent era of WTA, its literally a coin toss every match except for Iga
@@krishnancom yes, Raducanu is not that good but is more consistent, she plays like 7.5 to 8 out of 10 all the time. Muguruza fluctuates from like 4 to 9.5, Krejcikova played like a 5 in her 1r, Iga is playing a solid 8.5 to 9.5
I think Parry's one-handed backhand is similar to either Gasquet or Evans. Her serve is almost like Dan Evans but her one-handed backhand is somehow easy to adapt or copy. It's rare to see women playing one-handed backhand.
Sometimes its better not to play a slam if you are not ready. Thats if you KNOW you are not ready, otherwise take a chance if you can digest the criticism. Women play best of 3, so no diff than other tournaments with regards to max time on court. 💫 sure Barbora will bounce back, but emotionally this loss seems to have hit very hard. 😪
This first-round loss of a defending champion reminds me of J. Ostapenko, which happened a few years ago. I Hope Krejcikova doesn't go that path and comes back stronger in the next slam. congrats to winner
Do seriously people thought that she would be able to defend the title? I am amazed by some of you. Like wtf Krejcikova skipped almost the entire clay season, as she played no matches on clay before RG and she was also recovering after an injury. I am surprised she was even able to win a set. She was a favourite only on paper.
I didn't think she would able to defend her title, it's something that's rare (the last female player to defend a grandslam title was Serena if I remember correctly and that was like 6/7 years ago??). But I didn't expect her to get eliminated in the first round.
Look at the vast difference in the standard of tennis between the Top seed and the second seed. Krejcikova’s tennis wasn’t at the level of a second seed of a grand slam. Of course not taking away from Parry’s sublime tennis performance. She played an amazing match and deserves to win
@@simonpegg1196 you can see also Becker, Edberg, Sampras, Lendl, Noah, Ash, Panatta, Nastase, Rosewall, Newcombe, Smith, etc.. 🤣 Luckily Diane Parry has a personal interpretation of the game, and isn't a copy of another player. Her game has a majestic traditional style, but you can't compare her with Justine Henin or Steffi Graf
Really happy to see krejcikova long bathroom break tactic didn't work. She has a beautiful game but I'm sick and tired of her antics and frankly I couldn't care less about her sportsmanship. Well done parry
They "freeze" your ranking points where you're recovering from an injury. Her ranking will adjust quickly to her current form (so is, she starts playing at the level she was playing before, or she will sink quickly in the ranking).
It's unfortunate for Barbora as she simply was not match-fit having not played for 3 months due to injury. I think its quite noble of her to have competed at Roland Garros this year given that she didn't play the entire clay swing, and she herself said she had no expectations to win because of her injury lay off. Good job on Parry though.
Krejcikova didn’t look like she cared after the first set. That’s what really bothered me. A defending champion should always try their hardest to not lose and win the title again. I didn’t see that in her. Excellent match from Parry.
I am not sure why on earth Krejcikova decided to play after being off the tour for so long, with injury and without much of physical preparation, i.e zero matches before..I am not surprised she's lost
STOP SHOWING THE WINNER IN THE THUMBNAIL especially because I can't watch the matches live because of my time zone. Krejcikova is the 2 seed, show her instead instead of spoiling the whole fucking thing. What the fuck is the point of watching the video when Roland Garros RUclips tells you the winner BEFORE YOU CLICK???
Anyone using one-handed backhand has my support by default.
For reals! Rare commodity on the WTA
😁😁
Agreed! Somehow I just find myself cheering for them
Like the long handled putter was banned in golf so too should the double handed backhand be banned in tennis !
Here here!👍👍 She has good form ...beating an exchamp on first match! Great!

I see a lot of Henin in her
Wow wow wow single handed backhand. Ha ha ha
why though? whats so special about it? I'd rather they have a great looking double handed one, dont get all the hype around a hand.
Golubic did better
Carla Suárez
Her single backhand is just a beauty to see!
Big win for parry. Beating the defending champion with a comeback from one set down.
Anybody Isn't perfect. Barbora Is better player but today maybe no. This Is only tennis
WOW! So very rare and refreshing to see a woman with a single backhand!
Indeed! I absolutely love it!!
Golubic did better
Carla Suárez
So shocking to see Krejcikova go 😞
Fair to say, that was astonishing performance for 19-year-old Diane Parry who defeated the defending champion 👏

That single hander is NICE
top 10 players out in R1: Kontaveit, Jabeur, Muguruza, Krejcikova and 4 still to play. I can't remember a more inconsistent era of WTA, its literally a coin toss every match except for Iga
I agree it is awful..I can't believe Krejcikova was defending champion?!
That’s why a poor player like Raducanu can end up winning a major

Her one-handed backhand is similar to Gasquet's. I like it.
Absolutely!
Gasquet’s a good one to copy. But I actually see it more similar to Mauresmo’s.
@@dougnaquin7611 the hairline and backhand of Amelie
Not... Gasquet's is unique, it's a Dalí, a Leonardo da Vinci.

Congrats Parry! so good to see a one-hander in WTA tennis.
Not an upset.. Bora has injured since 3 month without any warm up Clay tournament

Love the backhand of Parry
What a beatiful tecnique from both players. Smoth like silk. Love it!
So pleasant to see a 1h on the wta
Congratulations parry clearly a well deserved win👏👏
1 handed backhand and no grunts! Already cheering for her!

which people thought that she could defend her title? i mostly read here that they aren't surprised that she has already lost.
On top of everything she just announced she got covid as well and is withdrawing from the doubles competition..
Babora looks more like a coach than a slam champion and world number 2
Reigning champion out in first round, absolutely ridiculous
Not ridiculous when she's missed the entire clay season due to injury
who is Diane Parry? I love the one handed backhand The new Sabatini -Mauresmo ??? Congrats
Golubic did better
Henin
Dream come true
Krejcikovas toilet break was longer than these highlights.
Good one!
Please upload all the matches' highlights.ty
Krejicikova was clearly not “match ready” and should not have played…
Parry will be my favorite player from now, a rarely one-handed backhand player in women side, her backhand like Justin Henin 👍
Какая шикарная девочка! Просто загляденье! Поздравляю!
Very rare to see ladies use a one-handed backhand these days, very impressive, well done!

I will never forget the way she cheated against Garbine. Truly sickening.

Diane Parry has a Pierre hugues herbert serve and a single hand backhand hahaha love it!

Very nice old spanish topspin tennis there.
