I just wanted to drop you a line to express my sincere gratitude for that brilliant video on how to stream your PS5 games while juggling the chat voice and audio simultaneously on OBS.
I really appreciate this video! I don’t recall changing my optical ports because I recently streamed without a problem but this really helped me out. It was such a hassle trying to figure it out, thank you!
Hmmm you sure you have the cords the right way like the base station to the ps5 the cords in the correct spots? The optical in the right one on your base station. I don’t use the elgato software but I feel If it works for my Streamlabs it should work with elgato
YES you can! I actually have mine working that way right now as I'm typing, listening Spotify, and hearing my PS5 in my astro A50's. All you need to do is make sure your USB portion of you Astros is plugged into your PC and the optical portion of the astro headset is plugged into your ps5. @@ItsOmare_
k but on obs it picks up headset mic audio from my ps5 and it overlaps with my yeti i want it to just take my yeti audio from me and audio from my friends without picking up my headset mic when i talk to friends anyway to fix this?
is there a way to set more filters on your yeti to cut back on the microphone bleed? Ill be honest I never had that problem and I used the yeti for years. are your friends on the playstation as well...cuz playstaion did do an integration with the discord app. that you all can use discord instead of party chat.. I do that now. We all join discord now and i never use my headset mic
I have the astro a50s but i have a xbox series x that i want to stream to my pc, i know that i will need a capture card but how do i need to setup my a50s to where i can just use the mic on the headset to talk to my party and my stream without having to buy a second mic?
that im not to sure about...i have a dual mic set up. Idk a way unless you stream directly off of your xbox. Once again there could be away, I'm just not too sure.
So I know two years late but like my audio is blasting the streams ears out how do I fix it I have everything set up not sure if this is broken or if it’s something that I messed up
I tried all of this and even changed the optical and still got no sound to the headset. I understand sound has to be set to the hdmi and not the headset to be clear. So what am I doing wrong???
I'm a lot of years later, I did all these steps, I have my audio output device set to HDMI because if I don't then the stream has no game audio. But when I have it set to HDMI (even before streaming I would notice this) the mic is not as loud and good as it was when it's set to the normal "usb headset". I can't hear any footsteps or anything but as soon as I switch the audio output back over to USB headset it's perfect, but again then the stream has no game audio. What do I do? @ThoseGamerGirls
@@Xheniy it’s how you have it hooked up then. Did you turn off the setting on the ps5 like enable hdcp or whatever it’s called? Recheck the cables are plugged into the right spots? Do you have the aux cable for your Astro a50 plugged into the correct hole on the back of your Astro a50 basestation?
@@Xheniy I feel it’s not a pc thing but rather you don’t have the wires hooked up properly from the elgato to the ps5 to the little Astro adapter box. If it is a pc thing idk if I can help you. Your Astro is plugged to your ps5 right and not your pc?
Yes! Thats how I have mine set up. You just have to make sure you have a separate microphone that goes directly in your PC and added to streamlabs or OBS whatever your streaming software of choice in the mixer section. That microphone alone will let your chat (Viewers) hear you. If you try and just use your headset mic that wont work. Your headset mic is only for your party members or players in the actual game/console. There are plenty of good and cheep USB mics you can use if you dont already have one. If you aren't streaming but still want to hear your PC just make sure the USB for the ASTRO A50's is plugged into your PC and not the ps5. MAKE SURE the optical is plugged into your ps5 and you should be good.
Wondering if you can help ive set this up as you have shown but when i switch the output to my monitor so elgato picks up sound i then have 0 sound on the headset
hello I want to know how I can continue to hear and talk with my friends on play so in the audio part without hearing my friends on the stream thank you in advance any help and welcome (I use the astro a40 with mixer)
If I’m understanding you correctly you want to hear and talk to your friends while on the PlayStation, but you don’t want their voices to be on your stream? If so I believe there is a setting you’re friends have to do on their end. I believe they need to not allow their voice to be sharable. It might be in the voice settings.
Are you using an external mic? For stream or to hear your voice broadcasted you need to have an external mic plugged into your pc and added as a source under your mixer
@@LuGNuTT yeah the only way you can use that is if you stream directly from the ps5. If you are going to use the elgato you will need an external mic any usb mic will work. I use a yeti. But they have so many options at all budgets.
Im stuck at the part on the mixer, I havent got one that says elgato and I cant figure out how to add it there. Apologies if this is an stupid question!
Not a stupid question at all you have to add it to your sources first for it to show up in your mixer. So go sources hit the plus button and the Capture device that says for things like webcam or capture card. Click that name it elgato or whatever you want so know what it is. Then it should bring up a window where you can actually add the elgato and once you do that it should show up on the screen and mixer section. Hope this is what you meant
What’s buzzing? It could be placement of usbs. I know I have to place my elgato usb at the top of my case because it won’t work in the back properly. It could be a bad hdmi cable? Im not too sure. I don’t believe mine ever buzzed. I would try moving the usb of your elgato from the back to a top usb on the top or front of your pc.
Any suggestions to help out why my external Mic can not be heard in voice chat parties? My voice is heard on my Streamlabs streams but no one can hear me in the PlayStation 5 chat party. My Astro's A50 can hear chat and game but chat can not hear me, only on my Stream. Need some good suggestions please 🙏
Your a50’s mic doesn’t work for party chat? Your external mic should be plugged into your pc or whatever you have your elgato running to. And that is ONLY so stream can hear you. The external mic should be showing up under the mixer section of your Streamlabs or broadcasting service. My Astro a50 mic is what my party chat hears. So what you’re saying is your Astro a50 headset mic isn’t coming through to your party chat? Is the basestation plugged in directly to the ps5? And this happens to me a lot so this is why I’m going to say this. The ps5 controller has the neat feature that you can mute your mic from it. So for example usuallu if you wanna mute yourself you pick your mic up to the straight up and down spot. Well with the dual shock controller the ps5 has now has a mute option built directly in. So you can keep your mic arm down in the on position and hit the mute button on the controller and it will still mute your mic. So sometimes I forget my controller mic button is muted so my a50 mic isn’t broadcasting to my party even tho my arm is down. The color orange/amber light in the bottom part of your controller will be lit if your controller mute mic option is on. Idk if that make sense but I hope this helps some.
@@ThoseGamerGirls ok so your saying I can have my Astro's A50 Mic down while streaming and talking in the external Mic for streaming while I am in the PS5 chat party? Depending on what generation headset of the a50’s you have the base station optional ports could be switched. Make sure the optical cable on the base station is in the right one and make sure the headset basestation is plugged directly into the ps5 itself. Also I would just double check the headphone output on the ps5 is to hdmi/tv and NOT Astro a50 headset
I don‘t get any sound on my Astro. That‘s maybe because i don‘t have a direct connection from the base Station and the PS5. But how should i do the direct connection? Thanks for help.
I should clarify. The usb portion of the hdmi adapter that gives the adapter power, that cord I have plugged into an external usb hub that’s plugged into my pc
I don’t believe so since I think the pulse headsets are usb. Any usb type headsets won’t work with the elgato or mix amp. But I could be wrong. But my gut is saying no
Honestly I can’t answer that I never had mine plugged in without it. It kinda sounds like an issue with the headset. Did you do a hard reset on the headset
Yes sir, I had the same issue with my PS5 disconnecting on me constantly. You need to purchase the Astro's adapter and follow her video to take care of the issue you are having. Also go on Astro's web site and sync your headset for additional upgrades might help.
Yeah the headset is so you can hear and you can communicate to party chat. You need an external mic plugged into your pc and added into you mixer section of your broadcast software (obs, Streamlabs obs etc) that external mic is so your stream can hear you when you talk.
I had an issue where the output device was not sending sound to the headset but it was going through the elgato. I fixed it by turning off the ps5 and then switching the micro output cord on the back and forth from behind the bay station a few times.
@@ThoseGamerGirls I just plugged the station power to the front of the ps5 USB port instead. This is very confusing because your base station is different from mine and I’m not getting any sounds from my mic on the obs sounds section.
@@NocSlays you can’t use your headset mic to talk to stream. You have to have an external mic. I use a yeti usb mic. @@ThoseGamerGirls Yes I know I realized that after I got my Elgato, if I know that you can’t play on all audio and just use 1 mic just to stream and play and talk on stream I wouldn’t have purchased it. Are you using the mic from your headset? If you are you need an external mic so your stream hears you. The only thing the headset mic does is communicate with other ppl that are also on ps5/4 party chat. If you want your stream to head you you need an external mic. I personally use the blue yeti it’s a usb mic. Very easy to use it’s basically just plug and use. But they have so many different usb mics you can get now that are at many different price points for any budget. All you do on your pc is plug the mic in and on Streamlabs in the mixer section just add the mic. Hope this answered your question.

Lastly, i'll be able to hear pc audio as well on the a50s? This would change my streaming experience like no idea if u can help out. Please and thank you!
Okay so yes and no. Yes it will do all those things EXCEPT for you won’t be able to communicate with your stream unless you get a external mic you plug into your pc (where you have to plug the elgato into anyway) your headset will only be able for you to hear game audio and party chat as well as chat to them in party chat. The external mic will be what you talk into for stream to hear you. Also as I have my a50’s set up now I can hear ps5 and pc audio as well as chat to stream, BUTTTTT that’s because I’m using discord to chat with my friends with. If you wanna use discord you will be able to hear pc and ps5. But it’s a little different set up. Remember discord is now supported on ps5 for a chatting option.
@@OmaarFlex so I have mine all plugged in but the optical cord still in the ps5 but the usb portion of the headset is plugged into my pc. @@ThoseGamerGirlsA little update. The new gen A40s were trash too. The mic was extremely sensitive and talking a little to loud would cause a popping and crackle noise. It’ could be possible if you have the a50’s and have the optical plugged into your ps5 and your usb playing through your pc. It would also help to have some software like wavelink by elgato so you can see everything easier that’s going to your stream and what you can hear on your stream. I use to have mine set up this way so I could hear my pc and ps5. The only thing is you couldn’t be in a private chat on ps5 I believe. I used discord to be in party chat. So the answer is it could be possible. But not entirely.
Oh I also know if you have a capture card for your ps5 the function to make the capture card work like the enable hdcp or whatever that thing on the ps5 is called stops the ability to use Spotify on your ps5.
Does it use a usb that you plug in to the ps5 to make it wireless? If so then no it will not work. USB headsets don’t work with this because of some firmware on PlayStations end. You’ll need either the Astro’s or a headset you plug into your controller
Any sound I hear from my pc like alerts comes from my pc speakers. So I’m Not sure you can have the Audio of both the ps5 and pc in the astros UNLESS you have your headset plugged into the pc and you leave your elgato game capture software open so you can hear the ps5 audio.

If I’m understanding you correctly you want to hear and talk to your friends while on the PlayStation, but you don’t want their voices to be on your stream? If so I believe there is a setting you’re friends have to do on their end. I believe they need to not allow their voice to be sharable. It might be in the voice settings.
Hey everything works fine but I’m not able to record my voice and party chat through obs
Are you using an external mic? For stream or to hear your voice broadcasted you need to have an external mic plugged into your pc and added as a source under your mixer
@@ThoseGamerGirls no I’m just using the Astro a50 that are connected to my ps5
@@LuGNuTT yeah the only way you can use that is if you stream directly from the ps5. If you are going to use the elgato you will need an external mic any usb mic will work. I use a yeti. But they have so many options at all budgets.

So just to get Everything straight I have to get a yeti so I can talk to my stream and record my voice
Hope this is what you meant
i see that you dont have a buzzing sound so how do you get rid of that?

Yeah the headset is so you can hear and you can communicate to party chat. You need an external mic plugged into your pc and added into you mixer section of your broadcast software (obs, Streamlabs obs etc) that external mic is so your stream can hear you when you talk.
i followed your steps to a T and CANNOT see my elgato in obs, what can i do ??

Okay so yes and no. Yes it will do all those things EXCEPT for you won’t be able to communicate with your stream unless you get a external mic you plug into your pc (where you have to plug the elgato into anyway) your headset will only be able for you to hear game audio and party chat as well as chat to them in party chat. The external mic will be what you talk into for stream to hear you. So I have a ps5 and I use the ps5 headset, hooked up to elgato , why is my headset volume set with my ps5 volume ? So basically I have to have my headset cranked to have the ps5 volume decent for stream . Will a50 have the same problem
I didn’t think you could use the PlayStation headset with the elgato. Because it’s an usb connection. That could be your issue. Also what broadcast software are you using? You should be able to turn up the elgato on your broadcast software. That way the stream can hear the game party chat but your headset can be at a good level for you and have no bearing on if stream can hear. I use Streamlabs obs. But obs you can control the level your elgato is being broadcasted.
@@ThoseGamerGirls I have slobs
@@ThoseGamerGirls to control my head volume I have to turn up in ps5 and it also comtorls my streak volume in sync
@@ThoseGamerGirls I have a 3.5 jack from headset to chat link that plugs into the 60s
@@boondockergames4907 you might need the chat link cable for a 3.5 mm Jack headset. You should look into a video that elgato did of what headsets work best with the elgato. They explain each on abs any external stuff you would need to use it properly.
This work with ps4?
I set it up the way you said but when I plug my usb in to my ps5 I get a loud echo in the adjust microphone level and my teammates say I’m echoing any suggestions?
Hey are you using a tv?
I tried streaming last night and my twitch couldn't hear my voice only my teammates and the game. How can I fix that?
If you’re using a capture card and like Streamlabs you have to have an external mic for stream to hear you. Unless you stream straight from your console then they will hear you through party chat or game chat. But you have to have an external mic for stream to hear you when using a capture card. I use a yeti but a blue snowball is a great low budget usb mic you can use. There are also other mics you can use that are prettty low budget.
If you plug your headset into your pc you can use the mic that way but you would have to have the PlayStation app or something on your pc so you can still communicate with your teammates. And you would have to have gamecapturr open so you can actually hear your PlayStation. So easiest is to just get an external mic
@@ThoseGamerGirls I stream from my pc, my A50 base is plugged into my PS5. I’m not trying to capture any content, just trying to stream and allow them to hear myself and my teammates:/
@@realeasymoney8741 yeah that’s how I stream too. The only way I can have my chat hear my voice is through my external mic because my Astro a50’s are plugged into my ps5.

Does it make your headset sound any less quality when doing this?
I haven’t noticed or no one has said anything to me that would make me believe it does that. Sounds the same
@@ThoseGamerGirls do you know if it’ll work on the Xbox series x?
@@bozeybtw4611 honestly I couldn’t tell ya I’m sorry
Yes , I lost a lot of quality
I have every Sound, except my own and i dont unterstand why. I have the Same settings but my voice is mute
Are you trying to use your headphone mic as your mic for stream? Because if you are that won’t work you have to have another mic for your voice to be heard on stream. I use the blu yeti and it’s plugged into my pc and then added into obs. There are plenty of usb mics at many budget friendly prices. I hope this helps
I can’t control party chat audio vs game chat audio with these settings. Any recommendations?
Most games that you place have their own sound settings in their settings menu. I usually turn the game I’m playing up or down in the game Audio settings depending on what chat needs.
@@ThoseGamerGirls thanks for the reply. I mean on the astros headset, you can increase or decrease specifically the voice volume or the game volume. And with these settings of output on HDMI instead of to the Headset, I can’t do this as they are mixed together as “game audio”
On a game like call of duty for example
@@Syphus323 hmm idk if I ever noticed that. I feel like I’ve used them and they work. I’m in the middle of moving so I just packed mine up so I can’t check but in the settings what is your headset audio set it. All audio or chat only? It’s right below where the hdmi output stuff is for your headset. Mine is set to Chat only.
WOW!! I feel dumb as hell now lol...it was def my optical cord....thanks! Great video! Subscribing to your youtube and following the twitch channel ASAP!
Hey so glad it helped! Don’t feel dumb it took me forever too! Happy gaming! Thank you!!
do you use another mic for your stream becasue my astros are working fine with sound and everything and the stream can here my friends in party chat but my own. I have no mic levels and the audio coming in from the elgato is basically taking my mic levels out so the stream cant here me. Any ideas how to fix this?
Correct. You need another mic plugged into your pc and added into obs or what er broadcasting software you are using. I use a yeti usb mic. But there are plenty of options out there for usb mics at all price ranges to suit your budget.
@@ThoseGamerGirls Do you know if I use discord and just plug in my mixamp to my pc I should be able to use my headset mic as a microphone input while having my friends voice in the stream too? I should still be able to get game sound since its dual input from optical cable
@@Smitaye- that might work try it out and let me know :)
Will this work for Xbox series X?
Thanks for the vidéo.Is it the same with xbox series X ? What about the graphic , this is only the graphic of the hdmi splitter not for the elgado/capture card, does it require to plug an additional 3.5mm cable or fiber cable in elgato or only the hdmi cable from the hdmi splitter ?
I can’t fully answer if this is the same setup for the Xbox. But I didn’t have to plug in any extra cables other than the ones I mentioned. I know the Astro hdmi adapter on their website says for ps5 I don’t believe it mentions Xbox.
@@ThoseGamerGirls thanks for your quick answer I saw à Guy on youtube who use the same hdmi splitter so I guess it works the same.thank you
@@STARSHIPJVTEK you’re welcome :)
Just want to confirm… You HAVE to have a SECOND mic plugged in STRAIGHT to PC if using Stream labs in order to have viewers here any commentary?
Awesome video by the way… the optical cord was the issue for me 😂
So sorry my notifications never tell me I have any but yes. You need to have a mic plugged into your pc or laptop and added to the mixer section in the software you use to broadcast so your stream can hear you.
I have the a50's with the smaller base station and if I change my opt to the port closest to the power cord I lose all audio in head set. I fixed my game audio problem just cant figure out the mic situation. #stressed lol
You have everything else hooked up right abs the base station is plugged into the ps5
@@ThoseGamerGirls yea it's plugged in via usb. idk if it matters but i use streamlabs obs. the elgato mixer is active but the mic/aux is inactive.
@@env_got_chea6865 do you have an external mic plugged into your pc? You can’t use your headset mic to broadcast to stream. The headset mic will only broadcast to your party chat or players in the game. Not to the stream. I use the blue yeti as my external mic that’s plugged into my pc. That mic is used so stream can hear what I say. Also, I too use stream lab obs
Does this work the same way on the PS4? I want to start streaming but I’ve seen soooo many problems with audio and streaming from ps4
Streaming on the PS4 is so much easier with this. You don’t need the hdmi adapter because the PS4 has an optical port on the. Back of the unit. I use to stream from the PS4 all the time. I never had any bad audio issues. Especially if you are using an elgato.
@@ThoseGamerGirls sweet! So I can use the Astro headset and hear all party chat and stuff? I’ll definitely purchase a decent mic for the stream.
@@HammerHealth yeah all I used was my astros my PS4 elgato hd60s and then a yeti mic for my pc to have the chat hear me. I never had an issue. The ps5 is the one that seems to be having issues because they don’t have an optical cord on the ps5
@@ThoseGamerGirls sweet! Thank you so much!
@@ThoseGamerGirls sooooo I’m having trouble getting game audio through to my pc :(
When I switch to hdmi , i loss the bass in my headset why?
Is the headphone option on all audio or chat only? The headset works better on chat only. Also sometimes my headset sounds better out of hdmi but I just go into the Astro command center and beef up my headset profile. You can try that.
Did you do this for PS4 system?
No I didn’t I’m sorry
@@ThoseGamerGirls it’s okay. I’ll try and research it or figure it out

Sure you have the settings on the ps5 set to hdmi/tv for output? Abs you have the right spot on the back of the basestation for the optical. Depending on which gen you have it could be different esp if you have first gen Astro’s
I've tried both ports and the only thing I hear is is nothing but thanks for the reply
@@kidd772 I know this method as worked for others. I feel it has to be something simple. Is your base station plugged into your ps5 directly?
@@ThoseGamerGirls yes it is
Is this going to capture Party Chat Audio on stream too or just Game Sound?
Yes party chat and game chat should be heard on this. You will need an external mic plugged into your pc for your voice to be heard to your stream.

Quick question, do I need to have my pc turned on for me to use my ps5 when I’m not recording or streaming?
Yes. I know it’s kinda a pain sometimes but he’s because of the elgato

You have to have an external mic so stream can hear you. If you use your headset mic only people in your party chat on your ps5 will be able to hear you. You need to have an external mic plugged into your pc and added as an item on your mixer in obs or your broadcast software. I use the blue yeti but they options to fit almost every budget. A lot of people enjoy the blue snowball mic it’s cheaper more low profile and gets the job done. Razer has the I believe it’s called siren mini and lower budget and is supposed to sound really good plus it comes in three colors. Pink white and black. Hope this helped some
@@ThoseGamerGirls Thank you so so much for replying!God bless you!

Hey everything seems to work except I can’t hear myself in my stream, do you know how to fix that?
Do you have an external mic plugged into your pc and in your obs or whatever broadcast software you’re using? The headset is for you to hear the game abs communicate with people in party chat or game chat. For your stream to hear you, you need an external mic (I use the blue yeti, but you can use whatever you would like). It’s just a mic plugged into your pc so stream can hear you
