  • David Pawson says that Revelation is the only book of the Bible that nobody decided to write. John simply wrote down what he saw and heard at the instruction of an angel. Jesus appears to him in a vision, but now his glory is apparent. David says that we need Revelation to fill out our picture of Jesus. Jesus reveals a knowledge of 7 cities and their churches to whom he is giving personal, individual messages. These cities in The Fertile Crescent are a melting pot of culture, politics and religion where roads between Europe and Asia traverse. Also, it was the area where Satan had his headquarters. The number seven is God’s perfect number and appears throughout this book. There are 7 parts to the letters - the Address, an Attribute of Jesus, an Approval of the church, an Accusation, Jesus’ Advice to put things right - sometimes with a warning that they will be closed down if they continue in wrong, an Appeal for them to heed, and finally an Assurance. For two of the churches - the largest ones - he has nothing good to say about them. For those who are suffering persecution, he has no accusation. David gives an outline of the whole book, and though things will get worse, they will ultimately get better and stay that way.
    David also has a book on this series find out more here: www.davidpawso...

    I'm confused. How can John be in Ephesus and Patmos at the same time?

    • @irishslave51
      @irishslave51 5 лет назад +2

      He got "exciled" to Patmos...

    • @princebarnabas
      @princebarnabas 3 года назад +2

      after his exile to Patmos... he was given freedom and he returned to Ephesus during his last days. From church history, we get these informations.

      @@princebarnabas Roman Catholic church history makes that claim. However, some historians and scholars claim that John died while on Patmos. No one is certain when or where he died. I'll take the uncertainty before I take the word of the Roman Catholics.

    Do we know whether John could write in Greek directly? Is there any supernatural aspect when writing the message?

    • @DavidPawsonMinistry
      @DavidPawsonMinistry  3 года назад +3

      HI Alexis - an interesting question - the oldest copy of the Book of Revelation dates back to the 3rd Century and is written in Greek - I am not aware that we know whether John wrote in Hebrew, Greek or Aramaic which was the spoken Language of Jesus but the only reference I can find is this :
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Language_of_the_New_Testament
      - hich implies more Jews spoke Greek than Hebrew - I confess I am not an expert

      @@DavidPawsonMinistry I have heard that also, but I would ask, wouldn't most Jews at least have a semi fluent understanding of Hebrew seeming as how the whole of the OT was written in it...i would take a guess and say it was probably equivalent to a Hispanic person who was born in the US with parents that where born in a Latin country...it would be extremely rare that the parents didn't teach the children some semblance of their national language, I have only met one or two who have Latin native parents that don't teach their kids fluent Spanish...speaking and writing. does that make any sense?
