- David Pawson says the letters of John are grandfatherly letters because John was an old man - and the only apostle to die of old age. John sees things as black or white. It’s in contrast to the relativism which has swept across the world in modern times. He seeks to ensure that his readers’ joy may be full, that they may be living blameless lives, that they may be safe from the wiles of the Devil and that they may have assurance. David puts John’s aims this way: To Promote Harmony; to Produce Happiness; to Protect Holiness; to Prevent Heresy - (David says “we have to be on constant guard against it”) - and to Provide Hope. The arrangement of John’s teaching is characteristic of Jewish Rabbis’ manner, not analytical but unstructured wisdom. The heresy of the time came from Greek philosophy which separated physical and spiritual, secular and sacred, temporal and eternal - and gave the impression that anything physical was dirty. They could not see that God could really become man. David says when we come to Christ, only our past sins are forgiven at that time. Future sins must be dealt with as they happen. This is a very important study for all.

Yes , i am drawn more and more to Jews in these latter days . I've never disliked them , ever , but now my love is growing for them. Thats a beautiful story about Prince Philip. After i was born again , when i felt Gods love i became more confident too. K
I feel the same way, never disliked the jewish people but today I do love them and one day, God’s willing, I will be able to visit their land 🙏🏻

As christians we should love everyone whether Jew or gentile; nothing special about any one particular group.
Jazz Jazzman I agree on value of all groups but the calling of God is different with the Jews. They are to be a light to the other nations, the “eldest” brother who is the executor and administrator to all the other families/nations about how to worship God.
100% agree. The anti-Semitic comment was not necessary…. A reminder that we are all human and imperfect.
Love his ministry. Not persuaded by his insistence on only males in church leadership. But apart from that, I enjoy his material.

Interesting exposition
Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit and were struck dead on the spot, would their salvation still secured and go to heaven? This question troubled me for sometime just as the ungodly believers in the Corinthian church when Paul instructed they be disciplined so their souls be saved. I would greatly appreciate David provide his view on this. Thanks in advance.

David does not know because the Bible does not say ...... we can speculate but we just don’t know for certain til we get there ......the consequence of sin is death and because we are all sinners we will all die ......but salvation is another question ....

Yes i thoroughly agree about keeping short accounts . The C of E has many faults but prayers like the confession and absolution are biblical and spot on. Likewise the prayer of humble access ( Cranmer ) is so right . I always say it silently , even if its not included in a simpler service. K

34:00 The jewish people are not sons of God and for Pawson to even say this is heretical. He just goes through the letters of John where John is clear that you only love God if you love His son. God's children are ONLY those who believe Jesus is the promised Messiah.
God has a plan for his chosen people the Jews. The church has not replaced the Jews. We are grafted in to the vine Romans 11 the seed of Israel will be saved.

If God is just then why are you troubled by false teaching?for God does not judge you for what you do not know surely?
Because false teaching can lead others astray. Also, if you're using a tool incorrectly, would you not want someone to show you the correct way to use it if you have a large job to do?
Read Romans 1 and note what can be known about God through creation and how men supress the truth. If you go to Bible Hub and you can compare different versions as well as look up cross references. Please pray for eyes to see with a humble heart and ask God to teach you.

@@gjeacocke Thank your for the dialogue. Once we are saved as His Children, we share His message and Stand for Him and in Him for Others to see. Imagine how God feels when he looks down upon this sad place, full of filth and worldly desires, man's foolish ambition.. He cried and the floods came. He will now come with His wrath for He is RIGHTEOUS. Take Scripture to the false teachers. Stand in Him against such Sin against His Way. I just cringed when David Pawson said “…there are now non-sexist versions of the Bible that…”. I don’t think David meant that but still very CRINGE-WORTHY !!
Sadly even the publishers of the NIV version of the Bible decided to make it gender neutrol - but - due to public outcry that was reversed in 2011 and since then all versions of the NIV revert back to the original 1984 version - be careful if you have a copy of NIV published between 1984 and 2011
