    This is my absolute top tier Tool song personally. It is so achingly powerful emotionally, lyrically, musically. For me, it's a mic drop on humanity.

      The song is a great reminder about how ridiculous we as a species are.

    Never saw that video I hate fan vids and even the official ones can be distracting. I think just finding one with lyrics only on the screen and no video make it easier to concentrate on the song. This is one of my fave Tool songs!

      @@B-Drags-Den I didn’t even notice your arm so no worries, you don’t need to be self conscious! You’re doing great, it’s just that Tool videos are mostly very abstract and strange ha and I know many Tool fans say don’t worry about the lyrics it’s all about the music but I guess as a Literature major and lover of words I find the lyrics an integral part of the music not just an afterthought. Maynard often blends his voice into the instruments actually as just another instrument but that tactic can also make his lyrics hard to figure out. Which is frustrating sometimes because he writes great lyrics! He actually waits for the other 3 guys to finish all the music and then he writes the lyrics and fits them seamlessly within the parameters of the music. I am an almost 62 year old gal, retired teacher and have been a Tool fan since their beginning. I take care 24/7 of my adult autistic daughter who is in her mid 30s and she had a stroke at age 19 so in a way I understand your struggles with mobility etc. My daughter still slightly drags one foot, has balance issues if she’s standing still very long and will stagger backwards, trips on curbs or stairs and when she’s tired she slurs her words a bit at times. Blessings to you, you are doing great and Tool has some really fantastic songs with some deep philosophical or spiritual meaning, some which pinpoint the worst aspects of our human nature ha and several devoted to his mother, as she suffered from paralysis for 29 years and remained a devout Christian despite it, and Maynard had a lot of anger towards God for awhile over his mom’s suffering. Several Tool songs address that theme (as well as the song ‘ Judith’ from Maynard’s other band A Perfect Circle. He’s a busy lead singer, he has 3 bands in all, the third one he fronts is called Puscifer).

    • @B-Drags-Den
      @B-Drags-Den  5 месяцев назад +2

      I misunderstood your comment then. I think you meant the Tool videos are bad due to being distracting when listing. Thanks for all the info. This is an intriguing band.

    Also, if you have not noticed, the drummer ,Danny Carey is one of the Best drummers of all time, and that is not just fan Talk, He is a pro drummers , drummer..
    The man is a machine and you may have noticed the crazy timing signatures they use also.. Tool is my favorite band to be honest, these guys are almost 60 now still playing like this.. Starting with Aenima they really took off! Their first EP Undertow was not nearly as good in my opinion, but for one song on it called "Sober" really stood out for me as the beginning of what "TOOL" was to be..
    I hope to catch them just one last time as I know they will likely stop touring in the next year if I had to bet on it! Freaking Maynard was lead singer of 3 bands at 1 point and is still front man for 2 of them, TOOL and Puscifer and used to front for A perfect circle also, Crazy thing is all 3 bands sound very different from one another despite having the same singer..
    The second album Aenima was a masterpiece and Maynard was younger then and he could sing in an unreal range back then, of course many years of singing and nearing 60 he does not have the range he used too, But TOOL has mellowed out with each album and age so it's not necessary for him to hit the vocal ranges he was once able too anyways, Plus he still has a smooth voice despite all the years of really belting out crazy highs and his shear vocal range, he used to really be able to scream, but loud and clear at the same time, Once again, if you have not listened to "Aenima" , I highly recommend that you do if you want to hear Maynards voice in his Prime, of course being younger their music was more dark vocally and lyrically, as with most people they have grown in wisdom and mellowed out with age... But as far as the drummer goes he has only gotten better with age, Unfortunately with singers their voice wares with age especially when they sing like Maynard has for years, just belting out high shrills, Yet his voice is still silky smooth some how, Like I said he is just not able to scream like he used too is all.. I am just amazed that his voice is still so smooth after years of vocal torture to his vocal chords you would think his voice would be ruined..
    Ok I have rambled on far too long as usual, "Blame it on my ADD" ...SAIL!

    Another fave! Right In Two put Tool in my GOAT tier. The composition, melody, song meaning, and Danny Carey playing like a god throwing thunderbolts down from the heavens. It’s everything.
    Both tracks you heard are from 10,000 Days. Consider finishing this album all the way through? Songs hit better in order. Really adds to the experience and story arc. Especially on Lateralus.
    Note: in 30 years Tool’s released 6ish albums. I.e., They don’t release filler. Each track hits. Tho’ waiting for the next LP to drop is incredibly frustrating. Five years to release 10,000 Days. But the reward was “Vicarious.”
