Honestly when i found out why she learned the spell to make sour grapes even just that little moment put me into waterworks this is an 11/10 anime for me, studio madhouse knocked it out of the park on this one, scenerey and soundscape are freaking gorgeous
I guess if you are looking at the surface level you could come to this conclusion, but its much more deeper and broader. I guess you can say overall its about acceptance and maturity as it covers existential topics such as time and evolution. It is not a tragic story and its not about the people we lost, but its about the acceptance of reality and what we have. I am a little annoyed people overanalyses the first episodes and misrepresent the show as a whole. Spoiler: Her main way of deceiving her enemies and the people around her of her magical prowess suits this form of storytelling. It is also very well encapsulated by the demons as a race of different origin which seem human, but are not the fact frieren exists isn't for her own growth, but as observer, an invariant factor in which her environment is ever changing. Looking into the demons a bit further you can see the dream of the demon king was peace between humans and demons as they simply couldn't accept reality. Overall its a story about acceptance and maturity.

It reminds me of Spice and Wolf. Definitely one of the best shows this year

Have you seen to my eternity? I put it on par with it. Both unique and great.
I have, but haven't gotten around to watch season 2 yet. Which reminds me I should get on that 😅 .
@@okgin4239 season 2 is quite a direction change than just s1. Simular to Vinland, s1 vs s2. It is awesome though.
