+Radical Reggie Dreamcast is a favourite of mine for 2D fighters, did you know that the ps3 had a update of JoJos Bizarre Adventure (All Star Battle) and one is due out on PS4 i think?
One of my favorite 2D fighting games is Capcom vs SNK 2. For my xbox it was the first time that I ever played online on a console. I am a huge fan of the Street Fighter and the King of Fighters game series and CVS2 was a game that I put countless hours into.
I am only disappointed with Tatsunoko Vs Capcom because they want to add the Samurai Pizza Cats to the Tatsunoko roster, but due to the strange international distribution rights, it likely will never happen. :(
good job MJ and Reggie, I consider myself a fighting game enthusiast and I've never even heard of those of these, I really do appreciate your hard work, I will now go and try to buy these games.
Awesome video! This is by far my favorite youtube channel (just to be a part of the comment police) Pai is her name , Double Dragon Neon is amazing, Pocket Fighter is Chibi, A good entry fighting game WITH ROBOTS is Rising Thunder!
Battle of the Planets in the 80's but it was cut to bits, and then they added some extra robot animation scenes. Then got re-released as Eagle Riders in the 90's. :)
Tatsunoko is one of first anime producers companies, they released great 70's animes and other gems like Shurato, Zillion, Firebird, Doteraman, Macross, Judoca, Speed Racer.
The recent 2D fighter that really grabbed me was Killer Instinct on the Xbox One. I bought the complete season's one & two set's (was on sale at some point, time to grab it I thought) and just feel in love with the game. Really feel it's a game that should have been sold in physical form packed in with the first two seasons, hopefully they will do this once season three comes out early next year.
double dragon neon came out just a few years ago digitally. two gatchaman related series that came out to the states were re-named to eagle riders and battle of the planets. it was only an exclusive for the states, but snk vs. capcom: svc chaos is another game only available for xbox.
"Weaponlord" on the SNES/Genesis very hard to master, but rewarding when you get used to the controls. It had tons of combos which could lead to a gory finisher with you juggling a decapitated head with your blades before it hits the ground.
It's not strictly a Double Dragon game, but Rage of the Dragons was released as a homage to DD, with Billy + Jimmy LEWIS (instead of Lee), Kang in place of Burnov from DD2, and Abubo instead of Abobo. It's also a stonkingly fantabulous one on one fighter. Reggie, you should check it out.
+Metal Jesus Rocks Awesome . Fighter Climax is a cool game and it's the first game that we get to see both Akira and Pai Chan From Virtua Fighter in 2D. Awesome. Thanks.
Cyberbots is on the Saturn, but Japan only. Please do more of these, but like Japan exclusives on the Super Famicom, PC Engine, PlayStation and Saturn.
Sengoku Basara is also a great beat em up (like Dynasty Warriors) on PS3 and Wii, and both got released here in the US. there's also the anime, which, last I checked, Netflix has. ALSO, there's an absolutely awesome, unknown fighting game on PS1 I found a flea market called Evil Zone. It's cool in that it only uses two buttons, and the attacks you pull off depend on how close or far you are from each other. It uses 3d models, and shows real-time battle damage, which is something I didn't think was possible on PS1.
SAMURAI SHOWDOWN for the 3DO was actually pretty good, and sorta forgotten. BATTLE MONSTERS for the SEGA Saturn is a weird, digitized looking game with freak-show characters, but man its funny to look at and fun to play on 2P mode!
That tatsunoko vs capcom game was the reason for me to get myself a WII.. After getting a wii for a nice prince inclueded some games, went to a game store and they had 1 copy just brought in.. talking about luck.. to bad i don't like the wii controles when i'm used to the playstation controler / arcade stick
Neo Geo Battle Coliseum on the PS2 is a weird kind of SNK All Stars game. It's not amazing, but it is pretty neat getting to play as characters you don't normally see in fighting games like Marco from the Metal Slug series.
Reggie, you are the one! Man, I loved Cyberbots when I was young, but after I sold my original PS with all the games I completly forgot the name of this game, thank you so fucking much dude!
That Basara X game is actually called Sengoku Basara X. It's from Capcom's Sengoku Basara series, which is kind of their answer to Koei's Samurai Warriors series. The first game was called Devil Kings, likely in order to avoid a lawsuit from Koei.
Its pretty cool that Reggie will still recommend games, despite not really getting into them or going soft on them. He still understands regardless of his experience, its a quality game that many gamers will like.
Gatchaman was called Battle of the Planets in the American Version . The cheesy late 70s version had a poorly animated (american added ) Robot named 7-Zark-7 as the narrator
The US version of Tatsunoko Vs Capcom has more characters, then the Import version. I won both versions. The music on the import release is straight from the perspective anime and games, while the US version uses acid jazz like MvC2. I also used to have a modified PS2, but the pawn shop claimed they lost it. It was changed to a clear blue system with a top loader, and had the original 40 GTB Hard Drive. Man I miss it...
Man, hearing Reggie's process to run a PS2 game really makes me realize how much I take my PS2 for granted. Hardly gets used nowadays But it's been running since I got it for free in 2001.
Great episode! Double Dragon came out on the Neo-Geo CD, and that is supposed to be a more accurate port of the original arcade game then the PS1 port.
Power Quest on Game Boy Color. You buy a robot of a class suited to your fighting style, fight other robots, get money, enhance your own robot, and fight some more! It's a terribly underrated game
I briefly had the Japanese version of Tatsunoko running on my US Wii way before the system was fully cracked open... so much fun, but my disc went bad. Fun fact - the Japanese version has an alternate intro cutscenes with slightly different music.
Hey Metal Jesus ! I watched a lot of your videos and I especially enjoy the hidden gems ones. I also know you love shmups, you talk about some in your (hidden gems) videos but what dyou think about a hidden gems video dedicated to shmups ??
+Radical Reggie Oh but it is man!! Yeah um Arc System Works is publishing the JP version and they are releasing it physically in japan on both PS4 and Vita, release date of Jan 28. I'm importing them lmao.
Force G was the name of that 70's looking anime i was raised in PR so i saw it in Spanish when i was a kid back in the 80's great series and great video 👍
Oh man, I've been searching for years now for a 2D fighting game that I used to play as a kid and the character I used to play with was a tiny dog. I couldn't remember the name of the game but today I learned it's called Jojo's Bizarre Adventures. Thanks Reggie
tatsunoko vs Capcom was the only reason I bouhggt a wii to many of my favourite anime charcaters in one fighting game ahhh the memories fyi it was also realised at the arcade
Haven't seen it said yet, but MJ mentions thinking that Gatchaman was a 70s or 80s anime in the US. While now it is more commonly known as G-Force, it was first brought to the US in 1978 as Battle of the Planets. That particular adaptation was edited for content to make it more palatable to an American childrens audience.
Nice video as always guys, and cheers for introducing me to that game on Wii, going to try buy it right now, I love Battle Of The Planets which is what Gatchaman was called over here in UK.. and enjoy a good fighter game so this I have to try
Gatchaman - or Battle of the Planets as it was known in the UK (Since rerun as G-Force on Fox Kids) was a cool anime... Remember watching it in the 1970's... A shame that it never actually got its own game!
The people who made SkullGirls just hit there goal on INDIEGOGO to make there new game called Indivisible its a RPG platforming hybrid its looks very cool ;D
Gundam Battle Assault 2 is amazing Fighting game and really underrated. The game have so much interesting mechanics. Some characters are really big and take entire screen , really tough , high damage but cant block and easy to target
Some games I wish I could have added are....
The Rumble Fish Ps2
SPECTRAL VS GENERATION Ps2/psp
Melty Blood Actress Again Ps2
Waku Waku 7 Ps2/Saturn
+Radical Reggie
Waku Waku 7 has a port for PS2?
+Alexokrat yep. Look up su soft collection for ps2
+handclapsand808s I didn't own then at the time we did this video
+Radical Reggie Also, Last blade 2 was included in the previous 2d fighting game vid
Best fighting game all-time IMO
But that’s not a hidden game.
Tastsunoko Vs Capcom is absolutely fantastic, great choice.
Tatsunoko Vs Capcom is FUCKING AMAZING. INSANELY underrated.
I am only disappointed with Tatsunoko Vs Capcom because they want to add the Samurai Pizza Cats to the Tatsunoko roster, but due to the strange international distribution rights, it likely will never happen. :(
jediknightgeo yeah is really nice underrated because is on the wii
HD Loader and McFree Boot is the way to go to play those PS2 import games. Good Job Reggie & MJ.
+Kacy DaGameNerd Thanks Kacy! Also...Nice Sega CD/Saturn games in your Black Friday pickups!
The term Reggie was searching for is 'Chibi'.
Yes, 'Chibi' or 'Super Deformed'. You can tell some Japanese games are Chibi style if you see 'SD' in the title
Forgot to mention that cyber bots also has an Akuma cyberbot as a secret character
good job MJ and Reggie, I consider myself a fighting game enthusiast and I've never even heard of those of these, I really do appreciate your hard work, I will now go and try to buy these games.
I love your video! "For meee" sound like super mario voice and that fact makes it perfect ;) Keep up the good work guys!
that was some of the best singing I heard all year right there at the end slate. well done jenn is singing it right now as we speak
Awesome video! This is by far my favorite youtube channel (just to be a part of the comment police) Pai is her name , Double Dragon Neon is amazing, Pocket Fighter is Chibi, A good entry fighting game WITH ROBOTS is Rising Thunder!
meanwhile I'm still waiting on Capcom vs Snk 3 lol
That would be a dream come true if they made that
Heck yea that would be awesome
Nobody believed, everybody desired.
+jade d hell may freeze over and thaw first lol
Hello no.
Crapcom just ruins snk's characters
Double Dragon Neon was a pretty good Double Dragon game... Probably the game with the best credits I've ever seen (that or maybe Undertale)...
idk if it's a hidden gem but X-men vs Street Fighter is amazing and i cant seem to find it anywhere except a few copies online
you are one of the best youtubers keep up the hard work
+sanic speed Thanks very much! I appreciate the feedback :)
+MetalJesusRocks He's right, you're great, plus thanks to you I have discovered the great channels of your friends that are really nice.
Battle of the Planets in the 80's but it was cut to bits, and then they added some extra robot animation scenes. Then got re-released as Eagle Riders in the 90's. :)

+ Metal Jesus Rock ... Great video as always !!! What a beautiful singing voice , I see a record deal in your future !!! haha
double dragon neon came out just a few years ago digitally.
two gatchaman related series that came out to the states were re-named to eagle riders and battle of the planets.
it was only an exclusive for the states, but snk vs. capcom: svc chaos is another game only available for xbox.
I love when Reggie is a guest on MtealJesusRocks. It is a great back and forth.
You started with one of my top ten fighting games, SUBSCRIBED!!
The arcade hardware for Tatsunoko vs Capcom is actually also a literal wii.
For some reason Reggie just meshes really well with MJ's slightly awkward humor, there are always funny moments
"Weaponlord" on the SNES/Genesis very hard to master, but rewarding when you get used to the controls. It had tons of combos which could lead to a gory finisher with you juggling a decapitated head with your blades before it hits the ground.
reggie's great bro, 10/10 would hang out with
Anytime bro
+Radical Reggie Shin Kidou Senki Gundam W - Endless Duel for the snes gets no love for some reason lol
Always love your videos with Reggie! Keep up the great work!
the Tatsunoko game the name is G-Force, was very popular and one of my favorites.
My favorite video are with REGGIE that guy so cool and chill !

+Metal Jesus Rocks Awesome . Fighter Climax is a cool game and it's the first game that we get to see both Akira and Pai Chan From Virtua Fighter in 2D. Awesome. Thanks.
Great video! Awesome to see Bass in a fighting game I like that character a lot.
I think 2D fighter is better than 3D fighters. They some good 3D fighters.
Sweet video keep up the reggie videos!
Cyberbots is on the Saturn, but Japan only. Please do more of these, but like Japan exclusives on the Super Famicom, PC Engine, PlayStation and Saturn.

The fighting game hidden gems are my favorite that you've made so far Because I'm always looking for new fighting games.
I know this may sound silly, but a short audio cue when on screen text appears might be helpful. Love the video!
You gotta do a part2 of this please! There are so many more :D
Finally! Wanna see more of you and Reggie soon
Tatsunoko Vs Capcom and Neo Geo Double Dragon are hugely under-rated. Love them
I love the Tatsunoko vs Capcom recommendation, because I loved that game and I thought it was so underrated.

I love these videos with reggie!
REGGIE...REGGIE...REGGIE!!! THE CROWD CHANTS. REGGIE episodes r the best!
That Basara X game is actually called Sengoku Basara X. It's from Capcom's Sengoku Basara series, which is kind of their answer to Koei's Samurai Warriors series. The first game was called Devil Kings, likely in order to avoid a lawsuit from Koei.

My boy Reggie always brings the good shit!
Everybody was kung fu fightiiiiingggg! Great video, thanks for making it!
Great fighting games but for me personally I love more realistic games! Tekken, Tekken II, Dead or Alive are one of the best!
Man, hearing Reggie's process to run a PS2 game really makes me realize how much I take my PS2 for granted. Hardly gets used nowadays But it's been running since I got it for free in 2001.
And yeah, nice to see Reggie again, Jesus.
Metal Jesus saying, "huh" never gets old xP
Great episode! Double Dragon came out on the Neo-Geo CD, and that is supposed to be a more accurate port of the original arcade game then the PS1 port.

I was hoping you guys would've mentioned these games: Rage of the Dragons, Mark of the Wolves, Waku Waku 7, Last Blade 1&2, Golden Axe: The Dual.
Golden Axe: The Duel isn't a hidden gem. It's a pile of garbage.
I mentioned the last blade 2 and mark of the wolves in the previous fighting game vid we did.
at 9:10 they are called the Ninja Science Team very old japanese cartoon and very rare to find in episodes for sure XD
Reggie's back, love that dude.
Samurai Shodown/Samurai Spirits. The Saturn one is good, and Tenka on PS2 is fantastic. Best 2D fighter series ever.
Hey Metal Jesus ! I watched a lot of your videos and I especially enjoy the hidden gems ones. I also know you love shmups, you talk about some in your (hidden gems) videos but what dyou think about a hidden gems video dedicated to shmups ??
that skull girls game looked really fucking cool thanks for showing it
Yeah, I just wish it had a physical release
+Radical Reggie Oh but it is man!! Yeah um Arc System Works is publishing the JP version and they are releasing it physically in japan on both PS4 and Vita, release date of Jan 28. I'm importing them lmao.
+PhantomExdeath dude!!!! Are you serious!? I wonder if it will be dual language
This is an on point video.
tatsunoko vs Capcom was the only reason I bouhggt a wii to many of my favourite anime charcaters in one fighting game ahhh the memories fyi it was also realised at the arcade
top work again guys!
I'm not very big into fighting games, but these were some pretty cool titles. Thanks for sharing!
Haven't seen it said yet, but MJ mentions thinking that Gatchaman was a 70s or 80s anime in the US. i love the sengoku basara series!! great show and great games
they do mostly beat em up games
Awesom t-shirt Reggie! 😀👍🏼
Cyberbots do have a Saturn version and is really good, the Double Dragon was release in NeoGeo CD, there is a review the Nerd does with Mike.
Gatchaman was called G Force in the US, awesome series.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Fist of the North Star was on here....I am pleased :D
"Yatagarasu attack on cataclysm" is a great fighting game released on pc this year with really good animation.
I'm still waiting on the console release
killer shirt reg, made my day
Speaking of Virtua Fighter, there is a 2D version of Virtua Fighter 2 for the Sega Genesis/Sega Mega Drive.
It really shows you how many barrels the Best Friends Zaibatsu has gone through considering I only play stuff on PC and I know about most of these.
Can you do 3d Fighting hidden gems? here's one 'rival highschools bounded by fate' and another bloody roar
Cyberbots is on Saturn. Its amazing too, especially using the RAM cart.
Yea,h, it's Gatchaman!
Nice video as always guys, and cheers for introducing me to that game on Wii, going to try buy it right now, I love Battle Of The Planets which is what Gatchaman was called over here in UK.. and enjoy a good fighter game so this I have to try
Love these videos. Any love for the 3d fighters?
Gatchaman in North America was called G Force
It was called Battle of the Planets
Gatchaman - or Battle of the Planets as it was known in the UK (Since rerun as G-Force on Fox Kids) was a cool anime... Remember watching it in the 1970's...
A shame that it never actually got its own game!
+Warren “Phoenix” Marris There's a Gatchaman game on PS1, but it's a top-down vertical shmup.
Mark Mahabir Hmmmm may be worth checking out... I like a good SEMUP
The people who made SkullGirls just hit there goal on INDIEGOGO to make there new game called Indivisible its a RPG platforming hybrid its looks very cool ;D
+TheKingcwm ooh, sounds fascinating.
+TheKingcwm
Cool just downloaded the Prototype and love the battle system
+Jon Danger labzerogames.com/indivisible-prototype_win.zip
+Jon Danger you can also find it on the ps store
V true, though I hadn't been made aware of that until I read your comment. Totally awesome for saying Dude. Cheers from the U.K
Eternal Champions on the SEGA CD Lol!!
You two make an awesome tandem! Like comfort food, easy to digest. 👍
Battle of the Planets = Gatchaman. Best anime of all time. Anyone who grew up in the 70s loved Battle of the Planets.
Reggie xbox usa has the exclusive snk vs capcom chaos, , doa3, doa ultimate, a bloody roar.
+Patkillskenny SNK vs capcom isnt exclusive to xbox, it came out on the AES
+David Garcia you are so right David.
David Garcia That i did not know
Patkillskenny Most people forget about the AES since it was so nitch and around for so long
David Garcia I thought snk vs capcom for the aes came out only in japan. Didn't know it came out into the US too
Reggie came through with some bangers and buy bangers I mean good game
Chibi is small character with big heads and extra cuteness.
+Bobbynibbles That's what I thought...but it was hard to recall that in the moment. Thanks for the clarification.
Anything for one of my fave RUclipsrs.
The bloody roar series as one of my favorite 2D fighting games.
Man...I was getting stuff done today and then I found this channel...and then this video...aint shit getting done today!
Gundam Battle Assault 2 is amazing Fighting game and really underrated. The game have so much interesting mechanics. Some characters are really big and take entire screen , really tough , high damage but cant block and easy to target
Yay Reggie is back baby !!!😁
