There is a way to manually install the Win 8.1 driver if you really wanted CCC for some reason: 1: run the installer but close it after it unpacks all the installation files to C:\AMD. 2: in Device Manager, under Display adapters, right click on the adapter and click Update Driver Software. 3: Browse my computer for driver software. Click 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer' in the next menu and Have Disk... 4: Click Browse on the pop-up menu and go to: C:\AMD\AMD_Catalyst_13.4_Legacy_Beta_Vista_Win7_Win8\Packages\Drivers\Display\W86A_INF. 5: Select the first .inf file - C7156445.inf - and click open, then select the model HD4870 from the list and click Next. 6: The driver should install with several screen flickers. 7. Now re-run the legacy driver installer with administrative privileges and have it install the Catalyst Control Center. 8. Restart the computer.

IT WORKS ! But you have to get egzackly AMD_Catalyst_13.4_Legacy_Beta_Vista_Win7_Win8 package ! Other packages will not install Catalyst and the video driver - I spent 4 hours yesterday trying to get that work on my Radeon HD4800. Now i have everything and it works fine. Yesterday I bought a 27" ACER Nitro monitor and the image didn't fit the whole screen of my monitor. That's why i decided to swith from standard Win 10 graphic driver to the ATI catalyst drivers. There in scaling options you go to zero and you have full screen and you can tweak your old Radeon to it's perfect performance.

Yeah and this windows update triggers black screen upon starting windows 10 on an intel hd 3000/radeon 6490m hp probook. The moment the radeon driver is installed, the black screen appears. Completely useless update.

Thanks ! Catalyst Centre now successfully installed for my ATI HD4870 card on Windows 10 and working OK so far. For info, I didn't need to uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2013. The official ATI driver that I installed was dated April 2013 (as opposed to the Windows 10 default drivers dated Jan 2015) but should hopefully have more functionality.
Hi, do you have 1080x1920 option in Catalyst Centre? I could buy that kind of card for very cheap.. But he didnt have that resolution with windows drivers

if you want to install catalyst control center, but you can't, here is the way, i fixed this on radeon x1700 fsc, to do so, extract installer, but close installation after that, and go to folder where you extracted installer, right click and select properties, find compatibility and set compatibility to which driver's operating system it was made, for example i downloaded vista driver for x1700 fsc, so i select windows vista sp2, then i launch installer again, and it works perfectly (i haven't checked installing display driver because i installed it manually), also if your video card only goes up to windows xp, you won't be able to use the driver, because windows 10 and 8 dropped wddm 1.0 support, so you will need to downgrade to windows 7.
Thanks for this but not needed anymore. Just installed Win10 on a motherboard with built in HD 4250 graphics and it works great with no need to load/reload any drivers. Dual monitors with different resolutions were up and running at native resolution right after install. Win 10 21H2, build 19044.1415.
This worked a dream on my old acer aspire laptop i was running an up to date version of windows 10. I did try the same trick on other AMD drivers but didn't work. It only worked with the same drivers you used. Thanks

@@UltimateDIY yes the 64bit version worked for installing catalyst, but unfortunately the catalyst program did not allow any changes to the desktop colors, contrast, gamma, settings (options grayed out} which is what I was trying to achieve, but all other catalyst options worked ok so still worth having installed it 👍

You don't have to delete all drivers and can install in compatibility mode with all the drivers installed already. Don't have to disconnect from the Internet neither - Windows will not look for drivers in compatibility mode

Depends on the models, but I don't think overclocking is worth too much on older hardware.

After uninstall drivers it isnt microsoft adapter(((
You don't have to delete all drivers and can install in compatibility mode with all the drivers installed already. Don't have to disconnect from the Internet neither - Windows will not look for drivers in compatibility mode
